Although the conditions of that endgame even may leave some to be desired because the "affect" and classiness which held us spellbound and riveted, have been replaced in favor of cheap thrills and spectacle. The best part of today's epi, for me: The start. She blissful, hopeful. And then, reality strikes. Red on Kumud's hands. Saras's blood on Kumud's hands. Kumud is finally culpable for Saras. The last he got drenched in Red (wedding night), she got adorned with a shagun (payal), because she was innocent to a point. Today Kumud is not in the least blemish-free. And her realisation could not have happened at a better place. Her straightaway beescheeing Krishna... Her first and only thought was Saras. The more she tries to shake it off, the more it spreads. It was a (pardon me) fond knock on Kumud's head from the Divine. And was the other Goddess, Saraswati? Once, another Saraswati blessed her and today, this one, marked Kumud's fall from grace. They all bear witness to Kumud's transgressions, and her deceptions at large. Today, Kumud was very effectively singled out as 'culprit'. Why? Because she persists. She digs herself deeper and deeper, she chases mirages... She makes promises that she has no control over. She gives others false hopes. Pride comes before the fall. But for Kumud, it will be her touching the stratosphere, before she is unceremoniously thrown to the ground. And no matter how much she tries to wash off, that red has already drenched her hand, left scorching marks upon her soul. Haath kabhi saaf nahin hoge, Kusum ji. And neither will your Didi's conscience. She now owes Saras. Just lift the frickin' kasam off already, woman!
Apt thus that Kusum wiped off Saras' red, just like she assured Kumud her 'guilt' has been washed off. A desecration of memories, on one hand, yes. But, let's keep a detached optic, and it also betrays a misplaced desire and determination of Kusum, not to let Kumud owe Saras ANYTHING. Too late for that, now that Kumud's karz has been divinely rubber-stamped. But still, Kusum will persist. She believes Saras is there to hold Kumud back. Saras of course has the opposite agenda. But how to make Kusum understand? Kumud did not swipe that cotton ball across with haqq... She instead crossed her hadd while doing it. Remember, Kalika's first point of attack on Kumud? Kusum. Kusum is going to hasten and make Kumud's downfall even grander, because she does not even know what makes Kumud tick anymore. Not until Kumud actually lets her in now. Which she won't because of her desire to protect Kusum and her family. But unfortunately, Kumud's downfall, won't be hers alone, she is going to take her entire family for a crashing nose-dive. Kumud forgiving Saras. The littlest 'red' on him... And she scrambles to cut him loose. You could see Kusum believing and approving every sentence that featured a 'leave, Saras'... But Kusum only saw what she wanted to see... She did not witness a 'Radha' entreating her 'Krishna'... She was and always will remain blind to the "ehsaas" between Saras Kumud. Kusum can never fathom the trials these two have endured, post-estrangement. Kusum calls Saras a culprit, but Kumud has already been brazenly ousted as one.
Edit: Just to clarify... I meant Kusum is kept unaware and she also refuses to see how much that "ehsaas" has evolved. Previous standards don't apply to Saras and Kumud's bonds anymore. They have transcended. Kusum still has to take that leap of faith. If she will.
Pramad and Kalika are a team. They have already started tag-teaming. So, to right the scales a bit, why shouldn't Saras and Kusum. But remember, Kalika is hiding things from Pramad, so it is natural to expect a bit of powerplay on the other side as well. Kalika has just become more dangerous. She is a rogue agent now. But Kalika-Pramad fans 😛, another marker for the two 'soulmates' today... Himmat. Pramad rues that he lacks himmat. And Kalika completes the thought that he lacks himmat to stand up for her, for them. Aww, how cute that the two are on the same page. Remember when Kusum arrived... Two 'D's' followed her on every step practiced by the Dhan's... Delight and Distract. Add another D to it today, and you can somehow make sense of Saras' stance. Defer. Saras is going to 'defer' to Kusum just to keep her on-side so he can follow his kasam made to his Maa. He will try and test each one of Kusum's theories, just to buy him more time to make good on his kasam. Like Kalika too, Navin is going to be a 'rogue agent'. His 'yes ma'am' to Kusum is superficial. Saras knows Pramad. Kusum only knows of him. Couple this with Pramad and Kalika's lament on himmat and resolve... And it still is Kalika and Pramad. All other combinations are futile. But these idiots need to touch the flame before they actually believe that it is really hot. And they will come away burned. Because kids like Kusum should not be handed matchsticks. VC, please take her away. Both your daughters are going to end up 'defaming' you, one wilfully and the other, unwittingly.
And now, lets go back to yesterday: The "aap bhi khalena" bit... In total contrast to the food actually packed. Or was it? How could mere appearance simply suffice for Saras? The answer is because he wants it to. Yesterday, that tiffin box functioned as a microcosm... Three layers, remember? Today, one layer has been revealed on a macro-scale. The 'ostensibly spicy one...the one not for Saras but for Pramad, by Saras' own conviction'... Just how could Kusum's sheer debating powers awe and overpower Saras... Again, because he lets her convince him. He is refusing to give Kumud the benefit of the doubt in both instances, that the food was not spicy, it only appeared so, and also, that Pramad's jealousy is towards Kumud as a human... No, she still remains a cheez, a damaged, second-hand piece, at that. And Saras is now consigning her to that fate, believing that she will be seen and treated as a person. Kumud has been thrown to the dogs today. Pramad will continue playing with her. It will be repugnant to us, as viewers but... Pramad is going to equate to proximity now... To borrow a line from 'Now You See Me'... The closer you look, Saras Kumud, Kusum and us viewers, the less you are actually going to see. And when Pramad in his promixity will command, to all (Saras, Kumud etc) "look at me"... It will only be because the real trick is happening somewhere else. And he doesn't want us to see that. Neither do the CV's.
So when Pramad says "look at me", I for one, am gonna look elsewhere... When Pramad comes close to Kumud... When he gets into Saras' face... When he appears 'good'... The closer he comes, the further we should broaden our optic. Because CV's are counting on us to focus intensively, and become outraged. When we focus extensively, markers will be thrown aplenty because they will believe no one is really looking 😉 It is not all the little tricks, it is one heck of a grand illusion. Just ONE. And the mirror which will shatter last, it will be the one to end all.
