Arshi,
So today we did have a Saras drawing from last reserve of his spiritual core,a last bastion, he so meticulously built. He was struggling hard to fend off all demons that rushed from his nightmarish past to blight his present.
Original has slight different mode. He bore no actual grudge towards stepmom, nor any disrespect towards father. He received father's diatribe in an obedient silence and left in dead of the night. Thinking himself unwarranted and thereby free to peruse his old dream of a spiritual exploration without any attachment hindrances. In the process, he also shook off his new found love for Kumud, telling her not to wait..So here we have suitable adaptation. Mother's suicide is a complete innovation. And tale is not so conformist after all.
But attention is now towards Kumud's predicament. State limbo is already unfolding. And just as LN in Dubai, VC's reaction in RN would be pivotal, unless, a bolt from Dubai instructs Kumud not to 'wait', as in original. Then she may take much of the blame away from an impatient father, I fear.
We also have Budhdhi Dhan and Saubhagya Laxmi. The source preserved as much that he is actually showed a politician and minister, as in Book! The way they were showed disappointed, I think they were already looking for a 'corrective' influence for their errant Son and seemed to have sent a proposal to VC before, learning her 'virtues' from intermediate sources. They are slipping in the marriage inexorably.
Thanks smrth, once again interesting parallels to the original. This Saras is different from the original,
The Saras in the book was a gau, seedha saadha, and not suited for today's world. This one is stronger and more pragmatic.
He has a horrifying past experience that justifies the anger against LN and Guman and I loved the scene of Saras meditating to garner strength for coping up, shows he is still not broken and defeated.
The last straw will acc to me be Kumud's "betrayal" - she will be married by the time he gets to her, and that will break him
That's the scenario that is really scaring me at this point.
So, at the mention of swayamvar by kusum, the parents in law make the entry, not the groom, looks like they chose Kumud as a suitable bahu for their son, as a corrective influence as you pointed out
Good entry of the couple, pramad still the mysterious stranger!
Glad that the team has made up its mind to stick to the story largely and not reduce it to a TRP following daily soap.
To pick up a great story, a classic, start great and then to meander aiming to please all is the worst crime that can be committed against the story!
