This isn't a 3 hour movie, this is a series and the audience will tune out if the "break-up" lasts too long, after all, how many months of that can keep the audience interested?

I think people have to give the show and the CV's some creative leeway to change from the book or story, if you already know how the show is and will end, that's no fun, its already pre-determined. The difficulty in adapting books to movies is obvious, the books are always better, so the movies that succeed, use the source book as inspiration, touch on the main points but allow the series to grow beyond the book. So what if its a little different, its no disrespect to the original story, that's a classic and always will be, but adapting it to the tastes of the modern audience will allow the series to last for a few yrs.
Have the tension and heartache of separation, have the moments of true love and passion, have the plot thicken with the addition of the new family and parallel lead but also use the supporting cast and develop a few of their own storylines, albeit in the background. Have the Danny/KumarI story parallel for a little while and then have a storyline with Kusum, the actress is good, pretty, so allow her some moments in the series to grow, and no, not just have her wind up being with Saras just because the original story says so.
Anyways, everyone has their opinions, none are right or wrong, just coming from a practical TV modern audience member, a series that lasts has to adapt and change in accordance to the times, blindly following a pre-scripted novel will not make the series last for 2 yrs.
P.S. If the show carries through with Kumud marrying someone else just because the original book says so, the series will lose a large amount of viewers because although it sounds very noble and romantic to still be in love with Saras while being married to someone else, lusting for somebody else is wrong, no matter the circumstances and to me, the love story between Samud will be tainted. A tragedy can work in a movie, not a TV series that expects to run for a few yrs at least.

I really like what u said! Nd agree with u completely thats y I don't think she will be marrying someone else I mean even is she does how will she be able to be Saras nd will her husband give her a divorce?

Some people like to watch emotional movies that make them cry and deeply touch their hearts.

You're right, some people like watching emotional movies that touch your heart, make you cry, they are beautiful works in their own right, I enjoy those MOVIES as well. But not a TV series that's supposed to last a year or two. People would think I have a disease if I had puffy eyes for 2 yrs of crying 😆
Rona dhona tragedies are emotionally draining, that's why you can handle them in small doses, not a constant daily helping of it. If Kumud winds up being with someone else, what possible happy moments or sunshine could we see? It would always be a constant heartache and although I like powerful emotional tragedies, TV is supposed to be a break from the realities of normal daily life, some nice happy moments with a little tension, drama, heartache thrown in as well as a strong emotionally engaging storyline.
I am not saying anybody is right or wrong, some people like sad powerful shows, I just can't handle that everyday for a year or 2.

I think it's wonderful that they're following the novel but yeah I think an adaptation doesn't have to be a word for word copy of what was written in the original story. The channel wants to gain revenues out of shows so they have to look at the concept/storyline and also whether or not the audience will actually be interested in watching that show. I know that I won't be able to deal with heartache and rona dhona for an extended period of time and I'm sure most people won't be able to do that either. With all tv serials about epic love stories, the lead pair always ended up together despite of all the hardships the storyline threw at them e.g. Prerna and Anurag (Kasauti Zindagi Kay), Armaan and Riddhima (Dil Mill Gayye) so on so forth
Even though directors and CVs promise that their show will be different from other love sagas, they will at some stage have to follow the basic format of a conventional love story 😊
Anywho, Samud forever <3
