i'm seeing some envy of the QH/KAJEN forumers with the fabulous SARASWATICHANDRA.
Thanks for getting back to me, TM. I'm on episode 12, I guess, as of now and I watch a lot of international shows as well so the catch up is going really slowly. Also, I'm not really a viewers viewer who watches for entertainment value or simply for the heck of it. When I watch I notice a lot of things such as camera angles, continuity, editing, lighting, subtext, dialogue etc etc. I also like to be aware of the context in which specific tracks have come about. So for me it is not plain old telly time but an analytical and technical exercise, of sorts. Also, since SC is a literary adaptation, I attach significant interpretational value to it. Call me an elitist, but by virtue of that, I consider it a more superior piece of work. Sometimes I have to stop myself from taking notes!
My biggest draw was SLB as well, but to be honest, I find his magic very sporadic in SC. Not to say that the show is not gripping because till now it is, but that signature SLB sorcery is inconsistent. The flashes of HIS genuis are far and few in between. The worlds that SLB creates are highly immersive such as that in Saawariya, now, as a viewer if you find yourself unable to become lost in his vision than something needs working upon. Or maybe it just me hoping too much and I need to take my expectations down a few notches. Because he is NOT the director, after all.
I have said all that I had to say regarding Jennifer. When I make an observation, I need to word it out and my apologies for making your thread the platform to do it. I guess I'm afflicted with the curse of "writing essays" *wink* I do still stand by my words and conviction that something is definitely amiss with the lead girl of SC. Whether or not that affects her on-screen performance, I'll reserve my opinion till I come to the episodes in question. If it is not too much of a hassle, I'd sure like to read the "I go home and cry" interview of J that you have mentioned in your response. Can I get a link to it, please? Thanks =)
>>> thanks IdiotViewer for getting back and mentioning your reasons to watch the show. you have lots of wonderful reasons to watch the show and analyze it. For me the reasons are slightly different. I have seen the movie Saraswatichandra many years ago. A good movie and story for its time when the families had certain expectations from women, and the extent to which a women would go to fulfill them. I continue to watch the show out of curiosity to see how the story will be altered, keeping in mind the changing times, and the evolving role of women in India today. How the current Saras will handle situations. I thought, SLB would do a good job, a person who adds his Mom's name to his. Apart, from the story, I thought I could watch SLB magic on a small screen as well, however, it is rare. Since I have given up on SLB magic, another major reason for me to continue watching the show has been Gautam Rode's acting. It is my small way of appreciating his sincerity and honesty, and contributing to his success in this jungle of Indian soaps.
>>>> no apologies, please. As mentioned before you contributed really well to my post. Regarding the interviews, I have seen them at dailymotion.com, here you can give the search option - saraswatichandra's kumud (jennifer winget) misses
In addition there are other interviews by Gautam Rode, and also a Gautam rode fan interview at his home.
