Please don't mind me pointing this out; it doesn't get justified in any scenario. No matter how much twists, turns or new manoeuvres are stretched into adaption. Even less in the original story line, which in itself ( the reason given there) is so regressive, it makes the probable epic collapse in the end. Even though i have not read it second time yet, early teen's first reading made me recoil enough on this novel not to place it in my favourite list. And even if I were to go over it again, with greater maturity perhaps, I am at loss to understand ( a query I had been repeatedly asking to insightful readers here though been overlooked/ avoided so far) how it ever justifies so many characters? For in reclusive Kumud consigned to oblivion, they all are failing; SC, Kusum, VC, Guniyal...all.
