i have seen the picture but have not read novel and know only the abstracts that r available on internet...they do have novel on google read but its in gujrati which i dont understand

as for the show well SLB is known for changing stories to suit his very own adaptation of passions which we have seen in devdas ...though he did not change devdas death in end lol...and do u know i am quit hopeful someday a devdas will be made with devdas alive in end lol lol

Now coming to SLOB .i have read his interviews ...he always mentions his show Saraswatichandra as love story.This has been been quit criticised in Gujrat as Gujraty critics consider Saraswatichandra novel as a life journey of a man to mukti and lok kalyaan and how as a family man (Saras is forced by Kumud to marry ) one can do this too...

But but SLB is not interested in that part all he is intrested is Saras passion for Kumud and Kumud for Saras and how these two keep it alive all through the twists and turns their faithful life caters them

So basically is is making an Ekta Kapoor love story in a SLB style...how...see down

lead male female in love ...but female gets married to someone else...so she has two men in life...one love another kartavya...female gets defamed for her love though she is pavitra bhartiya naari ...female widowed ...chances to get married to hero but again we need tow run the show for next two years so...family shadyantra...hero marries lead female sister...leap of five years...and story goes on and on till SP TRP aunty and SLB want...dont worry u will have a passionate romance all through ekdum SLB style lol lol

All i have heard her say is why you think about him? why do you care for him? why can't you see that he has rejected you not only though his letter but his actions too! WHY? Well because maybe your sister is in love!

@ bold - I meant before he expressed his feelings. I felt CVs kind of went back and forth with Samud being aware of each other's feelings then wondering why the other was going out of the way to care or help them having a complete memory lapse of the awareness.

Your post in some ways gives me hope that Samud will be together one day. I dont mind Kumud marrying someone else, being widowed and then eventually settling down with Saras. But I cant bear the thought of Saras marrying Kusum. Sowwie. Creeps me out. 🤢😳

Thanks for picking up 'name symbolism'. In fact, Author has an ardent penchant for it and was brilliant in naming all characters, even most minor ones. After a while, it becomes a fun to identify peculiarities and traits of each as they get written down in the course. To give an idea of author's this penchant, giving just a few minor ones;

• Guman's brother ( here she has a sister), " Dhurtlal". Dhurt in Gujarati for con/ fraud.😉
• Dharma laxmi ( Kumud's dadi, VC's mother, not taken here in serial); always busy in religious rituals and hence it came on Guniyal to fulfill domestic responsibilities in running such a huge family.
• Sahas rai ( Dukh baa's husband) who has gone abroad to try out his luck, also his financial adventures/ speculations lent him bankrupt. 'Sahas' for 'adventure/ speculation' in Gujarati.😛
• Kumari too had a meaning, her delayed marriage was a perennial worry for Dukhbaa ( unlucky and unhappy in book, an entirely changed adaption here). Remember that funny dialogue? ' jado, kaalo, taklo' var also not available, if one does not perform certain prayers to Shivaji.😆

Many such like, shathrai, dushtarai, pramad etc...more sometimes later...

P.s. yes, in book Sc's mother's name was Chandra Laxmi. LN's beautiful, auspicious first wife.

the present SC track is very much different from the original SC novel or the SC film as well...i think they will use different events altogether to bring twist in the tale ...they have bought the rights of the novel and now they will re write in there very own way yet keep the soul of novel alive ...which is Saraswatichandra and his affinity to lok kalyan and brahmcharya and his pious unending love for Kumud

SLB has made it clear that he is treating Saraswatichandra as a passionate love story of Saras and Kumud ...thats why when Kusum comes to Saras with tea instead of Kumud ...here in the show Saras knows it already that she is not Kumud ...but in original novel and film Saras did get confused and mistook Kusum for Kumud for a while

So this proves SLB is in full mood of giving us what we want a passionate love story of Saras and Kumud...so may we will see Kusum Sunny together helping sparks fly !!!!!

Thats interesting.. !!! I havent read the novel so I rely on smrth's information most of the time.. Yes I know SLB has brought the copy rights.. and eventhough he has a pechant for tragic love stories, we know that this is not a 3 hour movie ..this is a daily show where audiences and TRPs matter unlike in movies where director shows his own vision.. I dont know how Kusum's character is in the novel..In the show they have kept her in the background.. Even Kumari has a track going but Kusum has none..We'l see... what exactly SLB means by saying '' adhoori dastan ab hogi poori '' only he knows.. Not thinking about the ending yet.. But it was interesting to know more about Kusum from you guys.. So thanks Shana and smrth :)

Your analysis on SLOB's (!) style is interesting. And this may well turn out that way, which in turn, won't be my cup. Ekta patented genre; leaps etc. well. Soon it would be off then for me. Somehow soaps are not working for me.I have no patience for Devdas style wastefulness, irresponsibility either. And even in book, these lok Kalyan, kartavya of pativrata etc. were so pompous, artificial, they manage to diminish considerably the brilliance that transpires in first two parts.😕 Your inputs on copyrights and movie are interesting too. But does a classic not fall under public domain after over a century? And if copyright obeyed, then would it not require end to be adhered? I hope, that won't be a case.🥱

@bold ...they can very easily change the end as the classic is now in public domain and people are free to interpret it in there own ways ...so its not at all necessary that SLB follows all major turns or the end...Saras Kumud by sure will be together in this show I have a gut feeling but in a Star plus daily soap way...milengey... alag hongey... phir milengey ...phir alag hongey ...kinda thing...may be thats why SLB chose to make tv show out of it coz novel itself is a big Khichdi ...

5000 episodes ainway hi nahi ban jaayega they need to chew it like a chewing gum 🥱
