I know right. Making him die was dramatic. It would have been more realistic if they had shown him coping up with his now free life with his wife (who he married later on, she was pregnant too). I say 'free life' because he had been on the run all these days since he escaped from Prison so the police were behind them and also there another set of bad guys who were behind them too to kill them.
