What bothers me most is Saraswatichandra is a great literature piece with very well written characters and really meaningful story line. I understand that Kumud's dress would be noticed and people are bound to make a comment on it. But for god's sake why stretch it more than it should. some people like it and some don't. Simple as that😊
I personally don't feel I have right to tell anyone he/she must agree with my pov.

anyways, so far show is good so will tune in. as far as discussions go, well I had opened thread to discuss meaningfulness of character and symbolism; it wasn't as famous😆

Lets start it 😉😉 im ready 😈 😆😆

Thats exactly my point.. Every discussion like this will start of with sumthing , and at the end we really dont know what exactly we want to discuss and puff arguments start..Der is never a rule that we have to agree with everyone but sumtyms its gets personal without one knowing it.. I know a person here who used to make kumud hate posts...that person's comments were baseless ...All were fed up..hate is such a strong word..hmm..i dnt know sumtyms i fed up readin some posts.

hhaha now i dnt know what im typing haha...😆😆

I even see some indecent posts in the Name of gutter post😲

There is lots to discuss here. Both are such strong characters. Even the side characters are so strong.

And People need to accept things that they can not change and agree to disagree in respectful manner without getting personal😳

hey bhavi..nice to see u around...u r rite dear...Sticking on one point n arguing abt it is just useless.. Rather than that we can analyse situations, characters etc..as u said every character has its own shade.

Sometimes people do get personal...cant help it..u can put ur point forward without hurting others

I totally agree. I mean, clothing is a personal expression and should be respected just like someone's name and background. Like if I want to wear T shirt and shorts one day and the next I wear a sari, does that make me immoral? This is the twenty-first century. I don't find it at all vulgar what Kumud wears.
Men wear UB shirts or even dance shirtless like Salman Khan, but their morality is always above question. They do it for the same reason women do it, to please their fan base.
I have seen actresses wear a lot less than the one playing Kumud, so a little thing like a backless choli doesn't bother me. If that is her style, then what is the big deal. 😕
Kumud Desai is a young girl with great taste in jewelry, clothing, and makeup. If anyone doesn't like it, noone's forcing them to watch the show. 😳

Without looking at her dress as one part under microscope, (I agree jennifer has a great body, nothing wrong in flaunting it and it is after all show business) if you take the whole picture of the story set up, her dress is not appropriate.
Take the other characters of the show. They all cover themselves from head to toe. Even Kusum though wears a ghagra has full blouse covering her abdomen. I can take the window of the blouses as it seems to be the trend but the way the dupatta is worn and the transparency does not suit the village atmosphere and definitely not the house of vidya chatur. I do agree that dressing is a personal thing, but how far can you go in that without losing the integrity of a character is the question. Forget about village, this dress is too much even for a city.

My opinion that's all.

You would be surprised how little appropriateness means to producers whose only concern is maintaining the TRP's of their shows. This is not limited to Indian television. They had a Hollywood show where the women lawyers wore sky high hemlines to the office, they were high enough for a disco. Now, lawyers in real life do not dress like that but in a market-driven show that has to compete with other shows for ratings, you better believe they are making the most of every actress' figure.
As for the other characters' covering themselves head to toe, you could argue even the other male characters are covered too. This is because noone really notices much what the sisters of Kumud are wearing, or the other males apart from Saras.
They want the focus to be on the lead pair as much as possible.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali as creator has artistic license to do whatever he feels appropriate and I respect that. You're right, maybe not all village belles dress like Kumud. But how many people do you think are going to tune in, make sigs and VMs or write posts if the wardrobe is totally bland like a period piece?
I feel it's a reflection of the current decade. Jennifer is just like the other actresses of her generation who have to expose more than previous times to make their living.

Agree. To be honest, she has a nice body so it doesn't look that bad at all unless you are looking at her with a gutter mind. There are characters who show of their bulged abs wearing a saree that makes me puke sometimes.

Guys,
sorry I don't have time to reply to every one at the moment.
Given Kumud is a character that tries to convey something be it with attitude, ideology and even dress. So one would have a comment or two. We are not commenting on real person here😛
But regardless of all things pro or con; this is a show business. Makers want viewers and they will do whatever to get it. Be it Kumud's khidaki or Saras's darwaza. Simple as that
Tomorrow is dressing her toe to head brings in trps, they will do that as well regardless of her choice, sense of expression or freedom. 😆

See, it all has to do with audience appeal. They used to make actresses maintain a soft and flabby midriff to cater to the village masses who were accustomed to seeing working women with hard abdomens. Now the tastes have changed, people want to see actresses with fit bodies just like in Hollywood. Even the actors didn't have to work out in previous times but now pretty much any guy wanting to make it big needs to do this.
I agree, I do not like seeing bulging middles and love handles. I mean, that's not what anyone needs to see while eating dinner. 😆

Arguing over this is not going to change her dress ways. I am fine with it - we live in modern times

I have nothing particularly against the clothes and yes, everyone has their right to dress acc to their choice. But this is a fictional character and I think as viewers it is ok to discuss whether the creatives have done justice to the character's dressing style.
In my opinion, the short, backless blouses actually do not suit Kumud's character since she has been shown to be a conservative person belonging to a conservative family. Now if they weren't showing these characters to be conservative, these clothes would have been ok. For eg: Dugba seems to always scold Kumari for not tying her hair and she says how Kumud does everything perfectly. Now if Dugba is so particular about these things... I'm sure she should be having a problem with Kumud's clothes as well. And then the scene where Kumud's dupatta was about to come off and she switches off the light... now if Kumud is ok with wearing revealing blouses along with transparent dupatttas then she should not have had any problem when the dupatta was about to fall...
