Star Plus UK doubled the ratings in the 19:30 slot last night with the launch of its big budget drama 'SaraswatiChandra' produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The much publicised and talked about show had a 217,000 viewers in the 19:30 slot – peaking at 232,500 viewers – that's twice the audience 'Yeh Khamoshiyan' was getting in the same slot in previous weeks.
The launch episode of 'SaraswatiChandra' has certainly connected well with viewers but the question of sustainability arises. The coming few days will determine how well viewers have gelled with the show. The upcoming romantic track between the two leads starring Gautam Rode and Jennifer Winget, will certainly keep viewers engaged to the show.
'SaraswatiChandra' came second only to old favourite 'Saathiya' in the UKratings last night. 'Saathiya' at 19:00 attracted 231,500 viewers – peaking at 272,300 viewers. Next in the list was 'Diya Aur Baati Hum', which managed to garner 203,100 viewers at 21:00. In fourth was 'Pyar Ka Dard Hai', which delivered 187,700 viewers at 22:00, followed by 'Kaali Ek PunarAvtar' with 184,500. 'Veera' at 22:30 pulled in 175,100 viewers and 'Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai' was next with 161.000. 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' was at the bottom of the list but with a good number of viewers. It delivered 154,000 viewers.
