One more thing, you are unaware of, on the last day of your Mumbai visit, you were standing exactly opposite Govardhanram Tripathi's book shop for half an hr, now run by his grandson.

That is so heartwarming and heartbreaking...at the same time...I did not visit it inspite of being there..Though I did see a Gujarati books sign...not sure it was the same...but am sure I didnot read 'Tripathi' but it is so good to know...feels like a connection!!

Thanks for all the information! I had studied parts of the novel in high school, but did not know this much about the author. Truly it is a masterpiece of literature. I hope SLB can do justice to the novel. He has done it in the past with Devdas and HDDCS (which seemingly was inspired from 'Na Hanayte' - bengali semi-autobiographical book). Hope he can repeat his feat.

OH SLB has chosen a masterpiece to show his talents on the small screen...and looking to his penchant for exuberance and ala grand stories, he will ace it ...Hope at its best!!!
