Not working for you in Season 2? - Page 2

Hmm for me for the main problem is the gags rnt making me guffaw anymore... Even if we forget S1 n their set characterizations for a minute n watch this as a fresh show, I don't find any nice gags that I could laugh at... Ok 2 or 3 out of 10 do make me laugh, but that's just not enough... S1 was a hit bcz 7-8 gags /10 made ppl laugh!

I personally have to say that I am enjoying the return of the show and the characters and each episode has managed to draw a few laughs from me. But there are a few things that don't really work in some ways. I like the fact that the cast is still the same and they acknowledged the change in locations as well, but there are a few characteristics that have changed in a rather undesirable way.

1. Maya and Sahil are coming across as too aggressive at times, particularly in the way they interact with Monisha. In S1, Maya and Sahil did also show a lot of annoyance with Monisha, but it was wrapped in sophisticated insults by Maya, usually ending in "Don't mind Beta" and Sahil having a more sarcastic approach. In this season, their annoyance is bordering on excessive anger in their expressions, and their insults towards Monisha are rather aggressive. Ratna Pathak Shah is a great actor, but she is really acting up a notch higher than usual. Calling Monisha "stupid" "mad" comes across to be in very bad taste and definitely not in sync with the characters or the Maya and Sahil Sarabhai of S1. The moments like where Sahil asked Monisha "Madam, yeh parantha medium brown mein milega" (LOL) is more like the Sahil I would like to see.

2. The use of slightly inappropriate and suggestive language on the show has also increased substantially this season. In S1, they did have such references too but they were sparse and well placed. The use of words like "randwa" "Superprostitution" and Sahil trying to give Madhu phupha the sanitizer, were quite unnecessary to be honest. Not being a prude here, but just hoping the frequency of the language would be toned down. Such scenes and words draw more of a cringe than a laugh.

3. The bad VFX and bad dubbing are also taking away some of the charm this season. The mannat epsidoes were quite crappy with the horrible VFX. They could really make use of the sets to create more scenarios within the home space, where even the dubbing is a lot better.

4. Sonya's scenes seem to be fillers and add no humour to the show. They could really try to create more humour with her character. I am not sure if it is an issue with the writing or the actress playing the character, but her scenes really take away from the flow and tempo of the show at times.


I still do love the show and watch it quite avidly even this season, but if they ever decide to follow up with a S3, I really think they can improve on a few of these things.
