Is Rachna's self pity justified?

In today's serial, Rachna was feeling sorry for herself - saying Gunjan was so blessed?

Who has a tougher life Gunjan or Rachna?

Gunjan

Lost mother, away from father in aunt's house where most of the residents hate her

Fell in love, was victim to the schemes of the wicked witches, betrayed by Mayank, her love married another girl

Was made a victim by a guy - Vihaan, because she tried to help her sister

no friends

Sister is jealous of her

abducted by mintu and poured acid on - for no fault of hers

Mayank causes more drama each day - so she has no peace

Is not consciously reaching out to Rajeev

Rachna

Lives with family - has mom dad aunts uncles cousins - and loved by everyone there

has friend chaya

has sister who protects her no matter what

is looking for romance desperately and makes bad judgement calls bcos of that

was jilted by fiance - who she was unable to judge correctly

refused by Rajeev - who never loved her

Shouldn't someone tell Rachna she needs to get a life. Just because 2 guys she likes do not give her attention, she is feeling sorry for herself and thinks Gunjan is better off? Where is her brain - can she not reason and see how much she has that Gunjan does not. She needs to start understanding herself - her strengths and play to them instead of comparing with Gunjan. Gunjan does not fall for every man who enters her life - look and learn Rachna and guys will maybe then fall all over you then.

I hope Rachna realizes that and stops competing with Gunjan.

Great topic!

Rachana and Gunjan lead very different lives. Where Rachana has family Gunjan doesn't. Gunjan was blessed in love Rachana wasn't. Looking at this statement even Gunjan can self pity after all her mother passed away and her father left her here.

So I would say realistically even if they don't show self pity from Gunjan's side, it would be there. And it is also human nature to want what we don't have.

Sister jealously is bound to be if you look at it my way. Though I feel Gunjan has it worse because the only thing Rachana lacks is love from a man. Gunjan lacks a family and love. Many would argue that Shail is Gunjan's family. True but you can never replace a mother.

I did feel bad for Rachana today though. The reason was Rachana was jealous, yes. But it wasn't the green eyed monster like before that wanted to beat Gunjan. There were no negative feels towards Gunjan, she was being genuine.

The point is both sisters have somethings to be jealous about from each other. I hope they show this from Gunjan's side more again because it is so much more realistic.

I agree with you.I somehow feels sorry for Rachna but she is young, beautiful and single she will find the right guy she just has to be stronger and get use to such ups and downs in life. She thinks Gunjan has everything but since Gunjan mom died her life became a living hell. Rachna have her entire family to support her when things are tough but Gunjan has no one but Shail.

Sisters jealousy is natural as it happens in real life as well Rachna will get over her jealousy as soon as she gets love in her life. Today she was being nice to Gunjan even though she was a little jealous .

I do hope both sisters get lots of happiness, and love in their lives

I agree with everything that has been said thus far. Rachna has low self esteem so its natural for her to fell jealous of Gunjan. Once she participates and wins the "Fresher" competition in college, she will look at herself and her life differently. These are after all the different experiences in life that molds a person.
