Yes Krithika last year during these times Bidaaii was doing well and it was No1 when it ended the risk of the leap and the characters introduced and the change in storyline even though it did'nt change the focus and with a little dip it did its best with it .

Too bad they ended it with a word that its on a break and they will get it back. I hope they live up to that promise and what it did worthwhile with the competition from other channels and the change in storyline appreciated by the viewers should be taken into consideration.
If shows are slot leaders or consistent on the charts its foolish to let go of them, but then a channel uses its own rules and regulation and what when about with the channel and the PH is not known but yes its the viewers who are deprived at present so my hope to see Angini back

Yes Shanti ,many old serials are still running in colors, why they have to end bidaai which was running succesfully post leap. When Angini's story was about to start they ended the show, if they continue from where they left ,the show will definitely rule the charts.Hope it happens soon.

Sony manages to dislodge Colors from No. 2 position

Just after dislodging Zee TV from its No. 3 spot last week, Sony has now dashed ahead of the long-standing No. 2 Hindi GEC Colors, for the week ended August 20, 2011.

The GRP battle for entry into the top bracket is getting progressively interesting, week after week. Just after dislodging Zee TV from its No. 3 spot last week, Sony has now overtaken Colors, the long-standing No. 2 Hindi GEC, for the week ended August 20, 2011.

Riding on the back of its biggest reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), the channel has scored 245 GRPs, thus adding 50 extra points to its kitty as compared to the previous week (Week 33). The channel's relative share has also moved up from 16.1 per cent in Week 33, to 19 per cent in Week 34 (TAM, C&S 4+, HSM).

While KBC, the leading show for the week with a TVR of 5.4, brings in this major boost for the channel, its fiction property, Bade Achche Lagte Hai, and its flagship investigative show C.I.D. continue to drive the channel forward. Bade Achche Lagte Hai is the sixth-most watched property on television, and leads the 10.30 pm slot with 3.92 TVR. Meanwhile, C.I.D. is the tenth-most watched property on the channel, with a TVR of 3.6.

Sony is aggressively eyeing a consistent spot in the top-three bracket by the year-end, and will be adding more shows to its line-up in the next one month. The channel has already started running promos of Kuch To Log Kahenge, a fiction, and another non-fiction property, Prayaschit -- Gunaho Ke Jakhm (both from Rajan Shahi), with Tisca Chopra as the host. Both shows are expected to go on air within the next one month.

Kuch To Log Kahenge talks about a budding love relationship between a senior doctor and a bubbly young girl-intern. Prayaschit, meanwhile, has a unique concept, wherein participants on the show, will apologise for mistakes committed by them, and to those who have suffered due to their misconduct.

Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice-president and business head, SET, says, "We will further consolidate our position over the next four-five weeks. We are confident that fiction will be the main growth driver on the channel."

N P Singh, chief operating officer, MSM, adds, "Sony is on an upward curve, with the excellent opening of Kaun Banega Crorepati. We are ready for the next level of growth for the channel and our upcoming shows will simply add to the performance of the channel."

Meanwhile, Star Plus continues to lead the GRP charts with 297 points, while its relative channel share is 23 per cent. In Week 33, the channel's GRPs stood at 277, while its relative share was 22.8 per cent.

Colors has slipped down to the No. 3 spot with 232 GRPs (236 GRPs in the previous week), and its relative share is down to 18 per cent, from 19.5 per cent.

Zee continues to be at the fourth spot. However, the channel has added 4 GRPs to its bag, to end the week with 194 points. Its relative share has however dropped to 15 per cent, from 15.7 per cent.

At No. 5, Sony's sibling channel SAB TV is one point ahead of its last-week grade -- 128 GRPs. Its relative share has seen a dip from 10.5 per cent to 9.9 per cent. Imagine TV follows next, having earned five additional points, to end the week with 76 GRPs. Its relative share is 5.9 per cent (5.8 per cent in the previous week). STAR One is at No. 7 with 32 GRPs, and a relative channel share of 2.5 per cent. Just one point behind STAR One is Sahara One at 31 GRPs, while its relative channel share is 2.4 per cent.

STAR Utsav and DD1 follow next with 30 GRPs and 23 GRPs, with respective relative shares of 2.3 per cent and 1.8 per cent, respectively.

Kaun Banega Crorepati (Sony) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 5.24, followed by Saathiya Saath Nibhana (Star Plus) and Balika Vadhu (Colors), with TVRs of 5.01 and 4.61, respectively.

The fourth most-watched programme is Pavitra Rishta, with 4.49 TVR. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (4.18 TVR) and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (3.92 TVR) follow next. Sabse Bada Mahasangam (Zee TV), Uttaran (Colors), Pratigya (Star Plus) and C.I.D. are also a part of the Top 10 list.

Kuch tho Log Kahengay is about a mature love story again .. and quite male oriented...Looks like the new trendis male protagonists shows . Promos are interesting.

SONY has done well with fiction and reality

@shanti..thanks for sharing these articles..
seems SONY channel all geared up to take the numero uno soon.
step by step its getting closer to SP..
that was obvious AMITABH BACHAN is a crowd puller and KBC was sure to get good TRPS...
Ekta another producer who can attract viewers with her unique concept sometimes and BALH is one of them..
love the title of rajan sahi next venture on sony KUCH TO LOG KAHENGE reminds me of that golden days song...lets see how its fairs with the audiences..
every channel getting a revamp axing serials for new ones..
we have to see how far this competition benefits the channels but one thing SP has already lost some of its peak time slot ..i will say they gave it on a platter to other channels..i fear how the new show replacing gulal will fair in the 9pm slot as it will have KBC as competitor..
