After the failure of 'Amber Dhara' and 'Do Saheliyan', was it conscious decision to pick a hit show ('Bidaai') and not opt for a new one? I wouldn't say it's a conscious decision. I've always been an instinctive person. In the past, I used to look into the pros and cons of a character before giving my nod. Besides, I wanted to be part of a Star Plus or Colors show. It would be unwise to snub this offer. So, are you going to be the new girl in Alekh's life? I'm not supposed to reveal about the track, but certain things look obvious. It would be better if you see the show. It's alright to be stepping into a hit show, but the timing has to be correct too. Viewers and readers on TellyCafe, have given the thumbs down to 'Bidaai' after Sadhna's death track. Rating is something I'm not aware of. I won't talk just for 'Bidaai', but frankly speaking as an actor your job is merely to act. Scripts, tracks aren't in your control. Actors are like kathputlis (puppets), you simply move in the direction where the string is pulled. Angad Hasija has said he's bored without Sara and Kinshuk. How did he find your company? I've started shooting for just a week. Besides, I've only shot one sequence with Alekh, where I save him from a mishap. If Angad is bored, then I'm here to entertain him now. Coming to your last show 'Do Saheliyan', where do you think it went wrong? Hmm, I don't think I can point out any particular reason because there were many reasons why it failed. The story got really complicated. There was lot of confusion as actors too, failed to understand what really was going on. The story that was to be told in two years was finished inside two months. That meant what do we do next? Besides, I felt that the show lacked a bit in promotion. We only saw the hoardings month after the show was on air. Besides, the 10.30 pm slot has never worked on Zee TV. The show that has replaced us too isn't getting any great numbers. Apparently, it was buzzed that the show changed track completely with the death of a main protagonist. Well, this is a call that's taken by the creatives, writers, production officials. It's not fair to blame any one individual. Let's not forget that the final call lies with the channel. As I said, as actors we don't have any say here. At best, we can give few suggestions, but nothing beyond that. 'Amber Dhara' and 'Do Saheliyan'. Have the two shows failed in giving you any satisfaction? While their problems were similar, 'Amber Dhara' at least had the distinction of being a different show. Beisdes, it was my first show. People still know me as Dhara. And it lasted more than more than 'Do Sahelyian'. Isn't that a worry for you that you're tagged as Dhara? No, I don't buy that. Smriti worked for eight years as Tusli, yet she went on to do other shows. But barring one 'Kyunki..', Smriti failed in all her other shows. I don't think I should have any image problem. I'm here to act. Hopefully, people will appreciate me as Saskhi. While television is coming up with many shows there is hardly any talent emerging for them. Would you agree? Yes, I don't deny that. That's not all, but I hardly see any pretty faces too. There are barely 3-4 faces that possess acting skills. If one has neither talent nor looks, then you wonder what is he/she doing out here? You're one of the few pretty actors around. Haven't you found any suitor? No, not yet. My mother is upset that I've been surrounded with too many girls. However, my career is the priority for me now. The rest can wait. --Mayur Lookhar/TellyCafe.com |
