Kusum is another example of selflessness, which viewers might call "mad"...is she really mad? I opened this topic to salute ladies like Kusum, who are indeed rare, but in every one thousand or one lac people we meet, we are sure to find one Kusum, who work from behind to keep a family happy and united. Its again people like Kusum who sacrifice and leave this world in silence, so that a Vasu can give her marriage a second chance and live happily. Any average woman in place of Kusum would have aborted the child and had a second marriage and live happily, and on one fine day, when she faces Inderjeet, they just waive each other and leave. I know that has to be done and will be done by any average person, its not bad. But ...what Kusum did made her unique. She also did her work complete...she knew after her death, Inder and Vasu's life might be in trouble if Karan comes to know about Inder, so she did her work well and left a note for her son.Two women of two generations, Kusum and Sadhna.... but with the same motif, how to keep a family happy and united, even if that means inflicting pain on oneself. When there is a general feel that women like Sadhna are idealistic and hard to belive, creatives brought another example in the form of Kusum, that characters like Sadhna or Kusum are rare, but not impossible. It takes a character like Sadhna or Kusum to build a family, they make sacrifices such that many other women in the family can stay happy. Thanks CTs for showing that characters like Sadhna and Kusum though rare are the ones who drive the goodness of this world, as they are that one "UNIQUE" in the crowd...Hrishikesh Mukherjee's movie "chhoti si baat" had an intense dialogue that "no matter how much crowd is there in the average/middle level, there is always room at the top...because at the top, only a few can reach and the people who reach the top are the ones who are not average-minded"People like Kusum never die...because their goodness, their motifs do not die...when one Kusum dies, another Sadhna is born to unify a family.
Bani, sleeping with another woman's husband is not selfless. That's disgusting. Did she think about the lives she would ruin? What about the wife? She's a woman too. How would she feel if her husband did that? If indeed she fell in love then she should have waited for divorce before taking any other step.
Letting him go was not selfless either. He LEFT her for property. Any self respecting woman would turn her back on such a man. She's going to spend the rest of her life knowing he only came back because she was pregnant, not because she meant more to him.
Sadhana would never do anything like that so I would never compare Sadhana to such a woman.

In all of Kusum's life and staying away from Vasu and dying silently, you could see only her "sleeping ",,,although CTs never ever revealed that part of the story, whether she knew Inder was married from the initiation only. CTs just wanted to show how great the character is. It was mentioned by the CTs that Inder called Kusum later and talked to her. And even if she got involved with Inder, she gave Inder the chance to lead a tensiopn free life, and before her death, she left note for Karan so that he does not create trouble in their life..anyways, I was expecting comments like these also...
please do not say sorry...I was expecting your point also, which is also quite probable..because one thing is she did not know Inder was married, so she is not to be blamed then..but it could be she knew..so I admit she committed a sin...but she didn;t commit the sin alone, she committed with Inderjeet...but she even if Inder was leacing her for property, if she had walked a path like Karan and asked for her son;s rights, what could anyone do...accept Karan ...
I'm sorry Bani, but in my eyes a sin is a sin and it doesn't change just because she didn't go after Indu. Indu left her. If someone leaves you for property/money, would you go after them and make them stay with you? That proved to her that Indu's love is superficial.
I don't agree with the cts on this one. They can't show that Kusum is a great lady. That doesn't mean that I undermine her sacrifices because it's obvious she has sacrificed but sacrifices don't amount to anything when you've come between a man and his wife.
And if she didn't know that Indu was married then Indu is the worst human being ever on Bidaai and he doesn't deserve Vasu or anyone's forgiveness.

Kusum ... is Kusum, she is good. Par Sadhna is Sadhna na 😳😊
Its very usual in Poland ... I've been there a few times ... There are many women who, after 45, are soon living with a KOT (cat) ...
They would love to get married ... but marriage is not really working in that part ... plus the VODKA wala masla and all...
They all would LOVE to give birth to a kid ... raise it ... so that at the end of their days, there is someone to call their own.
It might sound harsh but its true for many people...
I myself know a person, who is a half Pole half Indian ... her mother had an affair but didnt pursue more with the relationship ... and this guy was born. His mother was more interesting in raising him then go after her ex lover ... she didnt want to bother anybody.
She died at 50 ... she knew Hindi well ... although he is not that good in it... (I didnt meet her by th way)...
Its not uncommon in post soviet slavic societies .... its usual ... specially after the soviet era when they really got to know so many different kinds of people ... they thought "they are better to have a relation with" ... and those guyz would just have a "good time (?)" .... and things would go wrong and all...
Kusum's story is not so unique ... I think...
It happens ... people would like to live together forever ... but when the man would not really show interest ... or infact run away or smth ... or just dont give THAT LEVEL OF ATTENTION to the girl, the girl becomes defensive and want whatever she could get out of that relationship she shared - Even if its just a baby, not the name.
There are people who get so less in life ... that they end up trying to remain silent and thankful with whatever less they have ... MEMORIES and A CHILD IS A BONUS.
agreed. kusum knew wat she was getting into when she got involved wid a married man on da rebound.Bani, sleeping with another woman's husband is not selfless. That's disgusting.
