Who are you??
Damn! Am so sorry for the rude first line! Basically, I am gawking at the screen right now! (O.O) You are going to revamping Sadda Haq, it seems. Yes, I can feel it in my veins!
May I know your name? But I'd still come up with a nickname and call you that, most of the time! 😆 So can I call you 'Krak'?

Anywho, I am excited!! The concept isn't revealed anywhere, because the introduction is just what Sadda Haq had set out to do. Only that it went astray somewhere.😕 There were so many expectations.. I am entering this world of the new revamped Sadda Haq (if I can say so!) with a fresh mind and a bright smile!

As promised, an update on Saturday.
Happy Independence Day guys.
I specifically choose to post the chapter today as Sanyu too gets independent from her horrible family!

Italics mean the character's thoughts.

Enjoy chapter 1.

1: Beginnings.

(SANYUKTA
)

She took in a deep desperate breath as she dragged her luggage over the last step.
Breathe.
It'll be okay.
I'm going to be just fine.
I've made it.

She huffed and panted, trying to catch her breath.
Just a few more stairs.
She shook her head at the painful burn in her arms.
It's just my luck that the room I've been assigned is on the second floor. I won't normally grumble but the added weight of the suitcase is not helping me at all.
And since I'm doing this alone...
No Sanyu.
Don't go here.
Don't feel bad about doing the right thing.
Not Now.
Especially not now.
Dam.. Darn it.

She came to a halt at the end of the corridor, pulling down her ruffled chunari.
"Arey Beta, I'm not that old. Let me carry your bags atleast." A white haired man was attempting to pull a huge suitcase out of his daughter's grip.
"Nahin, bilkul nahi, Backache hoga apko." a chirpy voice cut through the older man's request.
"Are! 4 saal hogi hamare sivah! Let Dad pamper you for the little time he has na!" The older man's rich laughter echoed all around.

Sanyu blinked, trying hard to prevent tears from filming over her hazel eyes.

"Daddy! Badme peet dard kare toh mein nahi hungi moov lagane ke liye" the chirpy voice swooped down into a sad one.
"Arey beta...Holidays mein lagana. I can't believe ki meri Choti itni badi hogai"

She couldn't take it anymore.
The lonliness was weighting down on her.
A flash of envy ripped through her.
How I wish...had things been different...

No. They weren't different.
And that is why I am here.
To make things different.
I cannot be weak.

She pushed away the homesick thoughts, the pining for her mother's arms and reassuring words. Her mother's smile.
But now, she no longer had her mom.
Thanks to what her father had made her do.

I'm sorry Maa. I love you but I have to do this.
For me.

Sanyu couldn't get her mother's painfilled eyes out of her head.
Nor could she get the words her brother had spat at her out.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish" he had said.
She tried to tell herself Ankit was tactless and stupid.
She wasn't rubbish.
He was.
But it still hurt.
But what hurt more was her father's voice.
"Walk out of this house Sanyukta and you'll be dead to me."

No. I have to stop thinking of that.
I'm done crying and getting hurt.
It is my life and I am taking it back.

She managed to drag the suitcase to her room after a lot of huffing and puffing (and some censored curse words.)

The door was already open and Sanyukta could hear the faint tune of "Perfect Day" from Legally Blonde playing.
A roommate who liked cheesy movies couldn't be bad, could she?
Running a nervous hand in her messy hair and smoothening her mud splattered Kurti, Sanyukta took a deep breath and walked in.

The music went dead and all that greeted her was silence.
And then, the silence broke.

"My my, look what the wind blew in"

-------------------------------------------------------------

Who is Sanyukta's roommate?
Do you like legally blonde?

Coming up next is a glimpse of Tigress Sanyukta.
Stay tuned

(SANYUKTA)

Sanyukta turned to look at the owner of the voice.
There, sitting on one of the three beds in the room was a girl unlike any Sanyukta had ever seen.
She was dusky skinned with long, straight hair and big brown eyes. Her lips were curved in an amused smirk.
Sanyukta's cheeks pinked at the sudden assessing look that the perfectly dressed girl was giving her.
In contrast to Sanyukta's sweat and mud stained green kurti and white leggings, the girl wore a pair of ice blue jeans and a grey leopard print top.

"Well?" the girl raised a delicate eyebrow " I said look what the wind blew in.!" she pouted her glossy lips.

Sanyu felt her cheeks and throat redden at the girl's comment.
No one gets to make me feel inferior.
No one.

She jutted out her chin and offered the girl a smirk of her own. "And look what the cat dragged in...a welcome party for little old me."

The girl's smirk faded into a prim, cold look. "I asked why you look like a street urchin."

"It is none of your business Miss Prissy Pants" Sanyukta shoot back.
She nearly gasped at the way her voice sounded.

Rude? impolite!

"Miss Prissy Pants? Is that the best you can come up with. Bah." The girl rolled her eyes "How original"

"Well, I don't know your name..." Sanyukta trailed off, looking at her toes.
Mud all over her chappals.

"It's Vidushi. And you are?"

"Sanyukta." Sanyukta held out her hand in a gesture of friendship.

"I don't do friends. You are just Riff Raff I have to put up with for the next four years. Can you do yourself a favour and atleast try to look like a civilized person?" Vidushi scoffed and turned back to her laptop, waving a hand to dismiss Sanyu.

What was with this girl?

First I try to offer her a truce even if she's acted like a total female dog to me and now she insults me again?
I did not come here to take crap from a spoilt brat like her
.

"You know what Vid-U-Shi?" Sanyukta shoved her suitacase under one of the beds and pulled out a fresh change of clothes.

"What San-YU-kta?" Vidushi mocked, her hands on her hips.

Sanyukta walked to the door and turned around.
Her hazel eyes narrowed " I can wash the mud off my ugly clothes but you can't wash the mud off your ugly soul"
Without waiting to see the other girl's reaction Sanyukta turned on her heel and walked out of the room smartly, her muddy chappals hitting the floor, sounding like slaps against the tiles.

Sanyukta never saw the look of pain on the petite girl' face.
She never saw the tears run down the dusky cheeks.
And she certainly did not hear the wounded whimper that the girl let out.
