What happened that two people who had promised to love each other and be there for each other forever decided to end their relationship? Why they decided to stay apart despite loving each other? Will they ever come back together or let their ego decide their fate ...

A piece of paper and a few blots of ink that's all it took to end what people like to brand as a commitment for life, an unbreakable bond...its weird but we always seem to find a loophole or some way out when we make up our mind to discard something even though till a few days back we would vouch for the fact that it is sacred...Sanyukta could not believe that today she did what a few months back she could not even imagine of doing...she broke it !... they broke it... today they put an end to what they thought would remain for a life time...a life time of promises , a life time of sharing, a life time of joy , pain , love? ...all came to an end just so easily...with just a piece of paper?...all the fights they shared, the laughter , the joys, pains , they meant nothing? ...was it her fault ? or his? ...or may be both of them were at fault...Couldn't they hold on to their relationship for sometime more?...forever?...may be they were not meant to be...may be they were too impatient to give it a try...there were questions galore... there were numerous answers...there were never ending excuses... her head was paining, her throat was dry...there was a ache in her heart that she could not comprehend...she just wanted to close her eyes...sleep...drift away!..
Sanyukta looked up at the overcast sky, it looked similar to what she was feeling...gloomy, grey, bleak...she felt a bit of moisture on her cheeks...her hands went up to brush it off...was it raining? ...no ...she looked up again ...it was definitely not raining!...those were her tears, she had not even realized when she had started to cry...she wiped the tears away ruthlessly ...tears were sign of weakness...and she was not weak...she was broken...she was shattered ..but she was still strong...determined not to let anyone know her inner turmoil she tried to put on a straight face and walked down the stairs after meeting her lawyer...she felt herself stumbling on a broken part of the stairs , she tried to save herself , but alas she lost her balance ...she closed her eyes waiting to crash down the stair case when she felt a strong pair of arms holding her around her waist saving her from the fall...she knew the touch, the smell of the strong cologne...that warm feeling that she felt in the pits of her stomach whenever he touched her, it was back...she opened her eyes and saw herself staring back into those deep dark eyes, that had once captured her heart long back...those eyes still had the power to hypnotise her, to make her heart skip a beat, to make her breath come in gasps...she composed herself and tried to prise herself from his hold...his smirk was back...oh ! how much she loved that smirk of his...and how much she hated that !
"Take care of yourself, sweetheart"
His deep voice breathed into her ears , she felt her heart stopping ...to feel him so near her after so many days, to hear his voice , to feel his touch...one part of her wanted to hug him ...never to leave him...but she knew she cannot...
"I will have to..." she replied and struggled to get out from his arms...
Randhir gave her a small smile and released her.
"Just don't hurt yourself..." he said gruffly
With that, he turned, and in brisk steps, left the place, leaving her all alone...yet again..
"Sanyuuu...." A shrill voice cried from her behind .
She turned around to see her best friend Kaustuki , coming towards her running...
" I am so sorry , Sanyu , I am late..." , panted Kaustuki .."Actually my car broke down and I was not being able to find any mechanic...I am so sorry I left you alone in this mess , when u needed me the most..." , Kaustuki looked ready to burst into tears...
"Its alright Kaustu...doesn't matter..." said Sanyu with a sad smile
"How can it not matter?...are you alright?...what did the lawyer say?" Kaustuki asked, and after pausing for a minute she added slowly " did he come ?"
Kaustuki waited for some response from Sanyukta's side but she seemed to be in her own world, staring far away ...she put her hand on Sanyukta's shoulder and shook her a bit...
" Sanyukta...is everything fine?"
Sanyukta realised that she was not paying any attention to whatever Kaustuki was saying for a last few minutes...she pulled herself together and said " Its raining Kaustu..lets go and sit somewhere..."
Kaustuki nodded and they headed towards a small caf just across the street...
It was raining relentlessly; Sanyukta looked at the rain and sighed
"Sanyu?...umm" Kaustu said, unsure of what to ask her, she had never seen Sanyu looking so sad and lost before...
"Yes Kaustu...I know you have a lot of questions" Sanyukta turned and looked at her...
"We signed the papers today Kaustu, its over...its going to be over in a few months that is...he came and signed it , Kaustu...we are getting divorced " , her voice breaking on the word "divorce".
