+ + THE BABY PROJECT - PART III + +
Randhir's eyes widened.
"What did you just say?" he asked, even though Sanyukta was sure he had heard her the first time. "I said" Sanyukta hissed through her teeth, clearly enunciating each syllable, "We're partners." He pushed her away from the notice board and started reading the list again, carefully, while Sanyukta thought of ways to strangle him as she stared at his back. Randhir turned around then and smirked at her, like he had just gotten some very good news.
"Sounds like fun." he said, although his devilish smirk told a very different story.
Sanyukta widened her eyes and turned away with an annoyed huff, walking towards the Library where they were supposed to be getting the required materials for their 'Project'. As soon as she turned around, Randhir rolled his eyes and looked upwards. "Why me?" he groaned softly. Already, he was having a hard time staying sane around Sanyukta Agarwal (that girl irritated the hell out of him) and things had just gotten worse. With the occasional grimace from time to time, he followed Sanyukta to the library.
PKC was handing out the babies along with the other things that they would require, and he was smiling like a child on Christmas morning. While everyone else's faces depicted varied degrees of unhappiness, PKC looked like he might start dancing any second with overwhelming joy. The rest of the Dream Team had assembled there too, in groups of two now. Sanyukta ran her eyes over the others. Vidushi was standing with Parth, Kaustuki with Jiggy and Sahil and Yoyo were loitering in the background, as though unsure why they had followed everyone else inside the Library.
As Randhir fell into place beside her, PKC eyed them and wiggled his eyebrows. "So I hope you will ace this task, like you have done every other one, Miss Agarwal!" She hoped the expression on her face at his words looked more like a smile than a grimace.
"So." PKC said, once he was done, and started pacing the length of the library. "So" he said, again. "Vardhan wants you to work on this project, and he hopes that by the time that you are done, you will have learned something about working together." At that point he glared at Sanyukta and Randhir, like they were the troublemakers. "From this moment onwards, your task starts. At all times, you have to look after the baby, make sure all it's needs are satisfied and the most important rule of all - you have to work with your partner." he said.
"The responsibilities must be divided and both the partaking members must put in equal efforts when it comes to the well being of the baby, though how and what they might be is up to you." He then plucked the baby out of Kaustuki's arms and poked it in the stomach. "Oh and the Baby is fake, of course" he said. "But it cries like a baby, gets hungry like one and basically does all that a normal baby does, except that it isn't, you know, real." he added as an afterthought.
No one seemed to have any reply to PKC's pronouncement, they all stood in a stunned silence. Apparently satisfied with himself, PKC nodded and left. What he did not realize was that he had left a colossal mess behind him.
"What the bloody hell?" Randhir asked, of nobody and everybody at the same time.
That sums it up pretty well, Sanyukta thought. What in hell?
She turned towards him, "Work together" she said, "With you?" she pointed at him, her voice disbelieving.
"I just can't wait!" Jiggy put in, happily. "Me and Kaustu now have a Baby!" His eyes were shining with happiness.
"Yeah." Sanyukta packed as much sarcasm in the sentence as she could, "I just can't wait."
A/N: So that was it for Part III! I've never written anything longer than a TS, so this is technically the first time I'm continuing a story (Which is, well, what a Short Story is),and I think that this is longer than Part II. But sometimes, they have to be short because, well, they do :3
For PMs, Buddy me or Lil!
