This one is dedicated to Shalini di :D Also dedicated to ... Supriya di ^_^ Zyaada din nahi hue hai humaari mulaakaad ko, but you have made a place in my heart. Love you both :*

No proof reading done, so please excuse my mistakes :/

~Forever Mine~

30th May, The calendar read.

30th May, Her mobile flashed.

30th May, The news channel showed
.

She smiled sadly.
30th May. The best yet the worst day of her life.
How, you ask?
How the best day of your life also happens to be the worst day?
In answer to that, only a memory flashes in her mind.

*FlashBack*

She'd fainted 2 weeks ago and brushed it off as a result of stress.
She'd fainted again few days back.
Again thinking it to be just a stressful week, she let it not bother her mind.
But then throughout the week she felt weak.
She couldn't study. She'd felt tired.
Kaustaki even noticed, how the colour of her friend's face was drained by the end of day, replaced with utter paleness.
She couldn't walk through the corridor without feeling weak.
That's when she decided to check with the Doctor.

Two days ago she'd paid visit to a doctor near FITE. Kaustaki had wanted to accompany her, cancelling her date with Jiggy, but she'd refused.
Parth decided to join her instead, despite her refusal.
----x----x----

She'd received a call from the Doctor today, asking her to collect her reports.
She'd thought of asking Parth or Kaustaki to come along with her but then dumped the idea.
Why should she ask someone else to accompany her during college hours, that too when she just had to collect her reports.
----x----x----

Leukaemia
That was the only word that her brain could register.
Everything else, her reports depicted, was a blur.
Her world was a blur.
It seemed as if her entire life had halted to a stop.

She fainted. Again.
----x----x----

She wondered if it was a good thing or a bad thing, that the day she'd learnt about her dreadful disease, he had decided to confess his feelings.
"I love you. You're my world, Sanyukta."He'd said.
"But I love Parth."Was all she'd lied, her face hard and stony.

His eyes told her everything. They were so damn expressive. She could get lost forever, in them.
Maybe his eyes were the reason she'd fallen in love with him.

Looking into her eyes, she realized that she now was probably more broken than he was.
Her heart had shattered into more pieces than his had.
And that was the simple truth.

She concluded that it was a good thing he'd proposed on the day she'd discovered about her ill health.
Else, she couldn't have resisted accepting his proposal.
And she'd have ended up hurting him again. Giving him more pain than he'd already received.
"I am sorry Randhir."She sighed before landing on the ground, her eyes blacking out.

*FlashBack Ends*

A lone tear escaped her eyes.
She looked at the photo she'd framed and hung on the wall.
It was a photo of them.
Randhir and Sanyukta. Sameer was there too, but she'd cropped him off.
She looked grumpy in the picture, but Randhir was smiling.

And that smile was the only thing keeping her going.

Tears streamed down her eyes.
The rest of her life had really been a blur, she realized as she looked at a small picture showing her entire family.

*FlashBack*

She would attend college.
She didn't tell the truth to Randhir.
She told Vardhaan Sir though, and Kaustaki too, after she sweared not to tell anyone, not even Jignesh.
Vardhan Sir refused to let her sit for the exams. He tried to urge her to take treatment.

She refused to take treatment.
What was the use of living? Living only to marry an inhumane creature. Living only to be deprived of her true love. Living only to keep her father happy. Living only to give up her dream so she could for once achieve her brother's love.

She watched Randhir ignore her.
She saw the pain in his eyes.
She died a little inside, everyday.
She studied.
She sat for her exams.
----x----x----

"I have been diagnosed with Leukaemia."
"Sanyu what does that mean?"Her mother had innocently asked.
"Mom..."Words failed her.
How was one to explain to her mother, that she had cancer?
"Mom...in simple words, Leukaemia means Blood Cancer or Bone Marrow Cancer."she said, trying hard to keep a blank face.

"What? You mean we will have to cancel the wedding? Oh no!"Was all Ankit had said.
Her brother was such a selfish person. He never ceased to disgust her.

Her mother simply fainted.
Her father received a massive stroke.
----x----x----

Her brother realized the seriousness of the situation.
Her father survived and recovered.
Her mother revived.

"So now. What shall we do? Sanyukta you have to wed Sameer. And we can't let him know the truth about your illness." Her brother had said.
He was so heartless.

Her father simply nodded, depressed.

Her mother...she was still in shock.

But she had had enough. This. THIS she could not tolerate.
"If you want me to marry then, I will do so but only with the person who knows about my illness and still accepts me!"She screamed.

Darkness surrounded her as she landed gently on the floor.
----x----x----

"I am sorry Mr. Aggarwal." Sameer's dad said sorrowfully.

Seeing her faint, her family had agreed to tell the truth to Sameer's family.
They sympathised with her.
But they did not empathise with her.

Their reaction was exactly what she had expected.
They cancelled the engagement, refusing to marry a cancer patient.

Her supposed fiance had been very straight forward and direct.

"I am so sorry Uncle, Aunty, Ankit. I can't marry Sanyukta. I can't marry a girl who may die anytime. I mean I have a life... I need a girl who will work for me, who will satisfy my needs. Not a wife who requires me to take care of her. And especially not a girl who might rise up to heaven, or hell, any day." Sameer had said.

Sameer was simply disgusting.
He was just like her MCP enemy.
Infact, he was worse.
He was like the chairman of the MCP foundation.
But atleast her worst enemy had humanity.
This guy, her once fianc, had no trace of humanity in him.

Actually, comparing the two was useless.
That would be an insult to the former, her enemy...her love.

Ankit's humanity struck then.
He was cruel.
He was an MCP.
He was wicked.

But atleast he wasn't as cheap as that Sameer was.

Maybe he finally realized that she was his sister.
And he now regretted, even thinking of sending his sister away to such a family...marrying her to such a guy.

Ankit threw the entire family out of their house, shouting ill words angrily.

He then turned and cried.
He begged for forgiveness.

She simply hugged him.
This was what she wanted.
A humane brother, not a cunning MCP.

If a life taking disease was what it took to finally achieve the pure love of her brother, she'd happily give her life.

*FlashBack Ends*

A hand crept around her waist as she sobbed heavily.
She leaned back, relishing the strong manly smell.
She recognized the scent immediately.

Randhir bent down and kissed Sanyukta's neck softly.
She shuddered.

"Why Randhir, why? Why do you do this to me? And to yourself?"she asked, turning around and sobbing on the crook of his neck.

"Because, I love you."he said simply.

*FlashBack*

"Uncle ji, I am ready to marry Sanyukta." He said firmly.
For Sanyukta's family, it seemed like God had come down to help them.

They were overjoyed.

But Sanyukta was simply upset.
She refused to acknowledge the fact that she loved Randhir.

But if Sanyukta was stubborn to not accept her feelings towards Randhir, the latter was as stubborn to make the former his.

And he succeeded.

*FlashBack Ends*

Sanyukta smiled on realizing how stubborn both were.
She'd refused to take treatment even after accepting her love for him.
But he'd even convinced her to do that.
How could she ever refuse him for anything, except marriage. She could never risk that.

She cupped Randhir's face and kissed him softly on the forehead.

He threaded his fingers through her hair, pecking Sanyukta on her lips.

The serene smile on both of their faces vanished, as they both noticed the chunks of hair that Randhir's hand held.

Sanyukta's eyes welled up immediately as Randhir hugged her tight, tears dropping from his eyes as well.

It pained him to see his Sanyukta like this.

*FlashBack*

"Sanyukta I like your hair open."Randhir said, pulling off the rubber band holding her hair in a bun.
"Arghh Randhir. It's so hot. And open hair just makes me feel hotter." Sanyukta replied.
"Really? Surprising that it makes me feel hot too!"Randhir replied mischievously, ducking a pillow thrown in his direction.

*FlashBack Ends*

"It's okay Sanyukta. Anyways your hair was always so rough. It's good you're getting rid of them."Randhir joked.

"Maybe the new hair that will grow, will be silkier. I know for sure though, that it will be more stronger, just like you will be. It will never fall again, and nor will you. Because I will always save you. Now and in future." Randhir whispered.

Sanyukta smiled, leaning in and sealing his lips with hers.

Randhir tried to kiss her as gently as possible. A few minutes later he realized, she wasn't responding.

He let go of her lips and her waist.
She started falling but he caught her in his arms.

He realized she'd fainted again. He feared that it was because of their kiss.
----x----x----

The ambulance sirens rung in his ears.
Randhir stood outside the room as the Doctor checked upon Sanyukta.

A few minutes later, the Doctor came out of the room, his expression serious.

"What happened Doctor? Is she fine?"Randhir asked, worried."

"Randhir, you need to calm down. You must understand, that many Leukaemia patients, experience no symptoms at all throughout early stages of the disease. The case is same with Sanyukta. When she came for the first time to get herself checked by me, it was already late. She wasn't in the early stages of Cancer. She was in the advance stages already. We still tried to treat her. We thought of using Radiation therapy. But Like other therapies, the choice to use radiation to treat a particular cancer depends on a wide range of factors. These include, but are not limited to, the type of cancer, the physical state of the patient, the stage of the cancer, and the location of the tumor. And for Sanyukta, this did not seem like the correct treatment, as neither her physical state was strong, nor the stage of her cancer was appropriate. We decided to go with Chemotherapy. The term chemotherapy, or chemo., refers to a wide range of drugs used to treat cancer. These drugs usually work by killing dividing cells. Since cancer cells have lost many of the regulatory functions present in normal cells, they will continue to attempt to divide when other cells do not. This trait makes cancer cells susceptible to a wide range of cellular poisons. The chemotherapy agents work to cause cell death in a variety of ways. Death of the normal cells produces some of the common side-effects of chemotherapy. And as you can see, one of the common side effects, is hair fall."The doctor spoke.

"Doctor why are you telling me all this?"Randhir asked, restless.

"Randhir I want you to know, that we tried. We tried a lot to help her, to treat her. But I don't think it's going to work anymore. There is no use of continuing the chemo therapy. It's too late. She doesn't have many days or it could even be hours, left. So I suggest you make the last few moments of her life, the best. I am sorry."The doctor replied, walking away.

It was tough for doctors to deal with such cases. The pain that the boy's eyes reflected, showed how much he loved the girl. Yet, life wasn't always fair.
----x----x----

"Sanyukta, no arguments. Just wear it and come."Randhir ordered over the phone before disconnecting the call.
Sanyukta sighed and called the nurse to help her.
The nurse helped her up and took her to the washroom.
Sanyukta kept the now empty package aside, and donned the blue-white Salwar Suit that Randhir had asked her to wear.
It was beautiful, she had to admit.
She put on the simple sapphire pendant and silver earrings that he'd left for her along with the dress.
To complete the look, she sported dark blue heels with silver studs.
----x----x----

"Oh no Randhir. I can't. No, god no!"Sanyukta refused as Randhir pulled her into his arms.
Soft music played in the background.
Sanyukta reluctantly gave in, and wrapped her arms around his neck, as he slow danced with her.

She shivered as he brought his lips close to her ear and whispered, "Sanyukta. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, met and known. You are beautiful from outside, sure. But you are more beautiful from inside. And I consider myself the luckiest person in the world, to have achieved a woman like you. I love you Sanyukta, I really do. Please marry me. Please."

Sanyukta was shocked. She stopped dancing and so did Randhir.

Randhir knew her answer and he also knew her stubbornness.
Thus, without waiting for her reply, he daintily lifted her hand and slid in a beautiful silver ring on her finger.
Sanyukta was speechless.
Tears escaped her eyes.

"Dont cry Sanyukta, please. See, I bought a ring for you to make me wear too!"Randhir said softly, bringing out another ring.

Sanyukta was too weak yet stunned, to fight with Randhir.
She smiled sadly and slid the ring onto his finger and then kissed his hand.

It didn't finish there.

Randhir lifted Sanyukta up in his arms, knowing that she felt to tired after dancing even though they'd danced merely for ten minutes.

He took her to a small arena which resembled a mandap.
A pandit ji sat there readying the place.
A fire was lit in the center.

Sanyukta realized what was happening.
"No please Randhir. Don't do this."She tried to shout but it merely came out as a whisper.

Randhir asked the Pandit to begin and urged Sanyukta to sit down beside him.
The Pandit began the rituals.
Randhir quickly brought a shiny red dupatta, a heavy one and draped it over Sanyukta's head, smiling and mouthing, "You Look Gorgeous."

They stood up and took the Seven Rounds( Saat Phere ) around the fire.

He put the mangal sutra around her neck.

He applied vermillion on her head.

She closed her eyes and let the tears flow.

As the Pandit finished all the rituals and got up to leave, proclaiming that they were now a married couple, Randhir lifted Sanyukta up in his arms again.

"See Sanyukta. I am yours now, forever. Nobody can ever take me away from you now, never. And you're mine as well. Forever and always."Randhir whispered.

"I was always yours, Randhir."Sanyukta replied, kissing his cheek.

Randhir leaned in to kiss Sanyukta.

Sanyukta shut her eyes, relishing the blissful feeling.
----x----x----

"Promise me you will move on Randhir."Sanyukta whispered, lying on the hospital bed.
"No Sanyukta. I am sorry. But I can't promise you that. I have loved you always, and will love you forever."Randhir replied, a tear escaping his eyes.
"Why do you love me so much Randhir. Why? It will only give you pain."Sanyukta cried, tears streaming down her face.
"Because Sanyukta you are the only woman who ever cared about me. You are the only person who loved me more than you love yourself. Yes you hurt me many times. I did too. We were enemies. We hated each other. But now we are lovers, married. Husband and Wife. And we love each other more than we love ourselves. So shut up and stop crying. You are not going anywhere. I told you I will save you always. I will never let you go."Randhir said.

"Randhir...Go to your mom. Try and understand her. Please, just do it for me. Consider it my last wish. Go make up with her."Sanyukta said softly, lifting her hand up and touching his cheek.

"I...if that is what you wish, I will try and do so. But it is not your last wish. It's just your first."Randhir smiled.

"Thank you. Be happy always, Randhir. Never ever be sad. Move on and try to forget me."
"I can never move on Sanyukta and nor can I forget you. And you are not leaving me alone Sanyukta. You are going to be with me till the end, of both of us. So stop saying all this."Randhir replied, angrily.

Sanyukta breathed heavily.
Suddenly she thought her body wasn't working anymore.
She was shortening of breaths.

"Randhir, I love you."Sanyukta gasped.
"I love you more Sanyukta."Randhir said as he sealed his lips with her.

Sanyukta closed her eyes. Memories of her family, of her college, of her friends, and of the times she spent with Randhir recently, flashed in her mind.
She relished this feeling of love...for the last time.

She let go of Randhir's lips.

"Love you forever." She whispered, before breathing her last breath.

"I am yours forever Sanyukta. And you're mine."Randhir whispered, resting his head on her stomach.

Dil tukde tukde ho gaye. :'(
You know, this was so real. I mean, I have myself dealt with deaths in my family of people who have been suffering from cancer. This made me cry. This is such a dangerous and scary disease re. Just weakens the person both physically and mentally. And I have seen so many, it doesn't even scare me now.
I haven't read anything more touching than this, Tanya. This is heartbreaking yet so beautiful. Thanks a lot for writing. I love you. :*
Also, not to forget. I came first! B)

EDITED!

You already love how much I love sadism in stories nah?!

I would say one of the best sadistic stories I have read on Sandhir! How I love this genre? (I am perfectly normal Thank You very much😆)

I don't where to start! Also you already know how I love it when people get their med details right na? So I loved that entire paragraph! That inner turmoil of a doctor was simply put, yet extremely effective!

Moving aside from the medical side of things😆

The Randhir you have portrayed in this OS is actually a duhling! I can actually see such a determined, caring yet vulnerable Randhir! Under all that, there is a simple RD😳

Your Sanyu is strong! And boy have we been deprived of that Sanyu recently!

Loved this OS! Sowwwy for unresing soo late... I hope this comment made it up to you (probs not😆)

*ducks the jhootis and chapals*

Love,
Teri Paridhi😆
