PART NINE Rashi was standing her cupboard, deciding which colour saree she wanted to wear "which should i wear?? umm.. orange.. purple.. red.. pink... uff... just cant understand which saree should i wear..." she was engrossed in her self talk that Rashi didnt realise Jigar at the door of their room, he smiles at her and tip toes into their room and hugs Rashi from behindsaying "may i help you??" "Jigarji.. you?? when did you come?? Jigarji, the door is open anyone can come in, leave me" she said. "I came in, when you were busy deciding which saree too wear, and (tightens his grip) i wont leave you, afterall you're legal wife, let anyone come in.. ". Rashi smiles and says "Jigarji.. dont you know, its bad manners to hear someone else's talk" "someone else??!! (pause) excuse me, madam.. i was listening to my wife's talk and if i wouldnt have heard her talk, how on earth i would have realised that she is in dilemma and cant decide which saree to wear" Rashi blushed. "I have a solution to your problem (Rashi gives him a questioning look) but for that you need to close your eyes (holding her hand, Jigar turns aroungd Rashi to face him and she gives him a questioning look) close your eyes" he says, "But, Jigarji.." Jigar places his finger on her lips and lovingly says "close your eyes, Rashi". Rashi smiles to his request and closes her eyes, Jigar slowly places a box in her hands, she opens her eyes and seeing the box says "Jigarji.. what is.." "Its for you, open it" saying this he cut her off. Rashi blushes and opens the box and is surprised to see a blue saree and adores it lovingly, "did you like it??" Jigar enquired "ofcousre Jigarji.. i did.. its beautiful" saying this she hugs him and Jigar too returns the hug and they stand like that for awhile. Raji breaks the hug and Rashi says "Jigarji.. il wear this saree now.." and saying this she goes to the restroom.
After about 15mints, Rashi comes out of the restroom. Jigar is awestruck seeing her and she loweres her graze with shyness, jigar walks to her and says "Rashi.. you're looking really very pretty" "thank you, Jigarji" she said "Rashi (pause) you know what, when Arvind and his family come, you dont go down" he said "why??" she enquired "because, what if Arvind likes you and decides to marry, instead of Anita, it'l be a problem then" Rashi giggled and said "then, il tell Mr. Arvind that, am married and that too (places her hand on his cheek) to the best person in the world and by no means I can live w/o him" with RaJi share an eye-lock, their trance is broken, when they hear Koki shout for Rashi. "Jigarji.. il lneed to go.. kakiji is looking for me" and she turns to leave, but Jigar holds her hand, she turns to face him and he says "Rashi, thank me for the gift, atleast" "Jigarji.. i have already thanked you.. Jigarji please let me go" she said, "i dont want a verbal thanks, Rashi" he said. Rashi gives him a questioning look and he pats his cheek with his finger and seeing him do this, Rashi's eyes widens and she shys away, Jigar tightens his grip over her hand,she gives him a pleading look but he avoids it. Rashi realises that, there is no way out then, she steps forward and going on her toes plants a kiss on his cheek and freeing her hand from his grip, flees away from their room.
The entire Modi family is eagerly waiting for Arvind and his family to arrive, whilst RaJi and GoHem are busy with their eye-locks and shy smiles. Anita, is strolling up and down her room thinking about ways to stop the marriage from happening. finally, the door rang and Gopi opened the door and welcomed Arvind and his family inside. Koki introduced every member of the family to Arvind and his family. After getting known to each other abit Koki said "Rashi, go and get Anita down" she nods and leaves to get Anita down. Meanwhile, Gopi was looking after the needs of the guests and this was impressing Arvind and his family, especially his mother. Arvind's mom said "Kokiji.. your lucky to have such a wonderful DIL and especially in todays 21st century" Gopi smiled and Ahem's heart swelled with pride, Koki said "its all by kanajis grace.. am very sure, Anita will also prove to be a good DIL" and with the conversation in the hall continued.
"Anita" "Anitaa" "Anita, open the door.." "Anita..." Rashi kept calling and banging the door, until Anita opened it, "what is it Rashi??"why the hell are you banging the door so hard?? were you planning to break it??" enquired an irritated Anita. "Anita, i wasnt palnning to break the door, but was banging because i thought you have gone to sleep" "Rashi, i dont sleep at odd hours ok" Anita said. Rashi made a face and said "Anita, Arvind and his family has come and you're called down.. lets leave.." with this both Anita and Rashi come down.
On reaching the hall, Rashi says "kakiji" Koki notices Rashi and Anita and says "Anita, come here (Anita walks to her) this is Arvind and his family and this Anita" Anita greets them, "beta, this saree is very pretty and this colour is especially suiting you alot" Arvind's mother said "auntyji.. this saree is mine.. Anita liked it, so i gave it to her" Rashi said, hearing this Anita gave her an annoying look and Rashi smirked. The small conversations were on full swing, "if you'l dont mind , can Arvind and Anita talk to each other in privacy.. afterall, they are the ones who are suppossed to get maried" suggessted Arvind's mother and the Modis agreed to it. "Ahem dikra.. Gopi vahu.. take Arvind and Anita to the garden area, rashi get 2cups of tea.." Koki said and Rashi abided to what Koki and went to the kitchen and came with a tray of 2cups of tea and handed over the tray to Anita and with this Anit-Arvind and GoHem walked towards to the garden.
Whilst walking down the way to the garden, Avind questioned "Anitaji.. from wher have you done your PG from??" "i have done it from US, infact i and Ahem were in the same college, umm... not only college but class too and we used to be project partners too, infact we have spent a great time together in the college, right Ahem??" Anita ans'd, to which Ahem nodded a yes. Arvind said "ohh.. thats good" Arvind said getting a little uncomfortable, but he avoided it. "Anitaji, so what do you do in your free time??" "well i sing, sometimes" she ans'd him back "so you're a singer??" he enquired "no.. no.. not a full fledged singer.. but, yes in the college would participate in many functions.. actually, Ahem would be the organiser of these functions and would persuade me to participatein those functions and i would oblige to whatever he would say, right Ahem??" she said. "hmmm" he responded back, this was making Arvind uncomfortable and Ahem was getting irritated and Gopi was helpless, Ahem saw pain in Gopi's eyes and couldnt tolerate it, so he fixed things saying "Arvind, il need to go to the hall.. as am expecting an important call from a client.. the network in the garden is quite weak.. so excuse me.. But, gopi will take you'l to the garden" "okay, Ahem" said Arvind and they shook hands. Anita was annoyed with Ahem's huff leave, but couldnt do anything. Finally, the trio reached the garden and after settling them in the garedn, Gopi returned back to the hall area.
After, having a conversation with with each other Anita and Arvind returned back to the hall area in 15mints and they settled back on the sofas with the others. "So what have you'l decided??" enquired Arvind's mom, he said "maa, i dont mind to marry Anita at all, expect if she has some inhibitions" smiles spread on Arvind's familys face, "Anita, what have you decided??"enquired Koki "aunty.. am also ok with marrying Arvind" she said. All were happy with the approval from both Anita and Arvind, but Rashi was sensing something fishy about Anita and her behaviour.
