It was painful to watch a devastated Gopi stepping back from Ahemji and Anita. She was broken last night, but still stood behind her husband, even though not next to him during the scene. I felt she was making a stand that she will be behind Ahemji in supporting him with Anita but she won't stand next to him to share the burden equally as she did when he was posing as Nilesh.
When Anita was hugging Ahemji and he almost hugged her, Gopi moved backwards. She was distancing herself away from him mentally and physically as if saying - I want no part in this any more. That moment told her the story of her marriage poignantly that even though in the last two years she had come a long way to stand next to her husband, but all that was taken away from her in a devastating moment. She is back to her misery where she had started two years ago. As Navya said in her analysis this is the first time she is taking one of her vows back in reality. She is giving up her right to support him and stand next to him.
Gopi's life is an endless chain linked with agonizing pain, tears, and heartbreak. She has come out of this darkness before. Ahemji or no Ahemji, I hope she rises like a phoenix from her ashes again.
