PART FIVE Ahem stood still and saw Gopi walking away, he remembered Anita's words (if you need to confess your feelings... dont stop yourself from doing it.. just stop her from goingg) he kind of got a strength from those words and closed his eyes and inhaled deeply and determinately said "Gopi, if you want to go, you can go.. but (pause) hear me out (pause) if you think after you leave me then i'l marry Anita, then (pause) you're wrong, because am married to you Gopi... if you think that i love Anita, then (pause) you're wrong, because I Love You, Gopi... yes... I Love You nad none else " his voice almost echoed in the deserted place, hearing him say this, Gopi stood in her track and faces him, with tears rolling down her cheek. Ahem gathers more determination and says "Yes, Gopi.. I Love You, and only you... " There is silence between them, which allowed the each other to absorb The Confession. Breaking the silence, Ahem in an accussing tone filled with love said "I Love You, Gopi... But you dont love me at all.. and why will you?? your heart i alreday busy loving your mamiji, your mamaji, your dhawal bhai, your kinjalbenm your rashi ebn, your maaji, your dewaarji and see there is a new member in this list your Anitaji (pause) so you tell me, where do i stand in this list?? last??!! (pause) or mb am not there in this list. Gopi (pause) you care for everyone and take other's worries on your head, but you dont care for me and least bothered too" Gopi managed to say "noo.. ahemjiii.. i do care for you..." "yeahh, i can see that... thats why you're leaving me" he said in a dejected voice "noo ahemjiii... am leaving for you happiness... your happiness is with.." "my happiness??!! (pause) Gopi my happiness is with you and none else... but, you want to leave me right?? So go (pause) what are you waiting for?? christmas??? you go, wherever you want to.. goo" he said in a dejected voice. Gopi's tears kept running down her cheek and she gave him a smaal baby look, his heart melted seeing her face and Ahem smiled inwardly seeing this. Ahem continued in slight shaken and accussing tone, but with love in it and said "you want to leave me, right?? Soo.. why arent you goinggg?? why are you standing here?? Its me who loves you (pause) and not th eway other way round. What do you think?? I cant manage you without you Mrs. Gopi Modi... then (pause) you' re hardly mistaken. I'l easily manage without you. Dont bother yourself about anyting related to me. I wont miss you at all (pause).. yeah, there will be few times when i'l miss you.. do you know when??" Gopi lowers her graze. Ahem continues to say in the shaken tone "I'l miss you, when i wont be seeing your face the first thing in the morning... when i wont be getting the green tea made by you, its then when il miss you... when rashi will cook her tasteless food, its then il miss having you're tasty food... (pause) when il be going to the malls for shopping, il miss holding you close to me on the escalator... when others will call me ahem, il miss hearing your ahemjii...even during the puja, il miss hearing your melidious voice... (pause and wipes the tears rolling down his cheek) when il be back from the office, il miss spending time with you... after the days work when il retire to the room, which is no longer mine, you have made it yours il miss having you around it ... when il see RaJi's kids running in the whole house, il miss having our kid, Gopi (pause) our kids...(silence) Gopi, il only be surviving, il miss living life... il .. " before he could say anything further, Gopi had ran towards him and threw herself on his shoulder and was crying her out on his shoulder. Ahem, took sometime to realise that Gopi was in his arms and slowly Ahem too put his arms around her and hugged her back, they stood like that and their hug kept getting tighter with with passing of every second. Once, gopi was done with her crying, they broke the hug. Ahem took her hand in his and said "Gopi, without interupting you' re going to let me say.. what i want to" she nods her head in approval and Then Ahem goes down on his knees and lowering his graze he says "Gopi (pause) am really very very sorry.. i have hurted you immensely and terribly... please gopi forgive me, if you acn... (pause) i know, my sorry is absolutely nothing to what i have done to yu.. but, trust me.. il do everything possible to wipe out the pain, suffering, trouble that i had put you through... but (cries) please... dont leave me, dont... I wont be able to live without you... i know, i have failed to be a good husband, forget being a husband, i was never a good human being towards you... Gopi, i feel disgusted for my behaviour, but (pause) i promise il try and be a good hubby... i have no clue (pause) what should i say... but Gopi, please dont leave me... pleasee..." Gopi could also no longer see her hubby crying so hard and she hersself kneels down and says "Ahemjiii.. look at me" he nods a no, she takes her hand from his and makes him look at her and wiping his tears says "Ahemjiii... you never wrong... never... it was the circumstances, which made you behave like that... (pause) i have forgotten and forgiven you long back Ahemjiii... long back... (pause) in these recent days, i had even forgotten that our marriage had such a rough beginning... and btw, ahemjiii... who said that you have never been a good hubby??(pause) i know it, my heart knows that you have always been and will always be a very good hubby... you dont need to make promises for that ahemjii.. you dont... (pause) if you wouldnt ahve been a good hubby, you wouldnt have coming searching for me, when i got lost in switzerland.. if you wouldnt have been a good husband, you wouldnt have nursed my wound during diwali... if you wouldnt have been a good hubby, you wouldnt have taken the responsibility of educating me... (pause) if you wouldnt have been a good huby, you wouldnt have taken care of me day and night when i met with an accident... if you wouldnt have been a good hubby, then you wouldnt have bought a saree for me on the Navratri... (pause) ahemjiii... no human being is flawless... every human being has flaws... its upto us, what we want to see in them their flaws or best in them... i always saw the best in you and will continue to do soo... " Gopi couldnt say anything more and GoHem kept looking at each other with tears running down their cheeks and only eyes to the talking... Ahem asked "you love me so much, Gopi????" she smiled and said "I love you more then my life... Ahemjii... i love you very very veryy muchhh... (pause) even i cant live without you... " "if this is os... then why were you leaving?? (wipes her tears)" Gopi lowers her graze and says "because... i thought you still loved anitajii" he curls her hair behind her ears and questions "why you thought so??? (pause) tell me the truth" "because, i had seen you'l on the terrace (pause) and you'l were hugging and you even kissed her, soo... i thought... " he kept looking at her. Ahem cupped her face in his hands and said "Gopi... you're such a gawaar..." this makes her smile slightly he continues to say "Gopi, always remember that I love you... i love you very much.. its only who has the ability to complete me, my life and my family... there is absolutely noone has the ability to take your palce (pause) its who has the right to rule my heart and noone else... Gopi, you're my present and will continue to be my future and even the mother of my kids (hearing this Gopi blushes).. but (pause, he extends his hand) promise me one thing.. you'l never leave me... you'l never even think about leaving me..." Gopii places her on it and says "promise ahemjii... il never leave you again... never ever... " hearing this ahem kisses her forehead and hugs her and she hugs him back tightly. Ahem breaks the hug and makes her wear the maangalsutra and says "this looks better, when its around your neck , Mrs. Ahem Modi" she touches the maangalsutra and says "ahemjiii... am really very sorryy... i dint" he quites her by putting his finger on her lips and nods a no and they keep looking at each other. Ahem gets up and hepls gopi getting up too and says "lets go home" she nods a yes and he puts her bag in the car and they leave to the MM. I stop here... Next part soon...
