What are the chances of meeting one's ex out of the blue, especially on the eve of a wedding? What thoughts would have flashed through one's mind in this encounter?
Ahem was no different when he came face to face with his past. Key moments of times spent together flooded in: their confession of love to each other, her proposal to him, him telling her that his marriage was already set and him jilting her.
In this encounter his words were short but inside he mind was racing like a torrent river of hot blood.
Now he knew that the watch is likely to be for her fiance.
He kept his rage inside, not showing it to anyone, especially Gopi or his mum. Yet displayed it through his wild driving and keeping aloof.
The real Ahem appeared when he closed his room door and unlocked a drawer in the cupboard and took out his diary. He looked on at the contents of his precious, personal and private possessions of Anita, which included a birthday card, a written confession of love and a little card with a confession of love and words saying, I cannot live without you. These were all just plain words and material admiration, they hold no value at all for him, his mind reeled as he went through them.
His mind was at near bursting point when he saw a photo of them together in happy times. He simply could not stand the sight of it any longer and he ripped it with all his might. Him shredding the photo, squashing it and throwing it out off the room was symbolic as his heart felt it no longer belonged in there anymore.
Ahem is in a volatile mood now. He is about to fly off the handle. He is aware of his lack of control when his temper flares from past experiences.
Gopi will be going to give him his green tea, which is one of his best moments he has enjoyed as he gets to see his wife and her smile. How will he react to her this time - as a wife whom he loves, as a wife who has brought on his misery, or as something else?
Like the mehendi that would take a few days to fade away so too would this moment pass by for Ahem, hopefully leaving him in a better place.
