I am not quite sure where to stand on this. I love Gopi's character to bits and have always done so since the start. She is too good for this world and people will take advantage of this. Be it her sister. maami, mother in law or husband. They have not and will not put her first. Regarding calling her dumb. That she is not. But sometimes, I just wish she was a little bit more savvy. If anything she has an excellent mind and can troubleshoot matters in her own way. I want her one day to stand up and command the respect she is due for I believe that in times of crisis it is her words that have offered a solution. In other words, I don't like seeing her as a doormat and just wish to shake her and tell her to get a backbone.

- once her intentions are pure and innocent...but she has to think about other things like...if i help rashiben...what will maaji do when she comes to know about... in her desire to help others she forgets if she is crossing the line (going against koki in helping RaJi)

Yes, she should think. But remember, she wanted to come clean with Koki but Aham stopped her and she can't deny her Ahamji 😉 Still, if Aham wasn't involved and I was in Gopi's place, and if I thought I was right in wanting to mend my sister's relationship with her husband, I would try to do everything possible to help even if my mil go upset with me. I would bear my mil's wrath and hope eventually, she will forgive me. I am doing it for a good cause.

- point 7 : Ahemji said raji are not kids they can solve their own problems and we need not interfere...she did not listen to what he said...she further continued... "problem might be theirs but family is ours" these words made a mark in his heart...saw from her eyes what a family means ,... is this not influencing by gopi...by making a statement to which he has given in

Gopi was trying to justify what she was doing. She wasn't persuading Aham to join her. I am glad though he did. This is what family members should do. Not only he bonded with Gopi, but he got close to his brother too who would never forget how his big brother who never gets involved helped him. If Gopi and Aham shared a normal relationship, I wouldn't mind Gopi trying to influence him either. She is turning him into a human while his mom is making him a robot. Now, all this backfired because the CV's made it all negative.

The BB (brainless biwi) came around as a joke and I dont think people meant to be harsh in judging her...after all she is the darling of the screen...
I would however not be so fast in judging helping the family (indian) and not (western) that is too simplisitc a stereo type...
I for one find Gopi's charactor frustrating one cannot be so innocent and growing up being abused she does show clear traits of that ...but to be so one sided in chaaractorisation not realistic at all.
Coming to the fact that she is not aware ...of Raashi may be not all but she has seen a fair no of incidents all of the post seperation and also the booth stuff ok ...you say she is alturistic then what if anything is she is also ignoring what her family did to Koki...
Ahemji is older and wiser...hence he knows what he is doing but if the elders decid divorce I will fight it...contradictory dont you think and she did give her opinion to him that mad him change his tho I am not saying she is responsible for his actions...
I think more than anything else it is Gopi growing as a person, now that she has the exposure and security without divesting of ones good qualities one can do better and she did have the guidence of Koki who she did trust...
Naive is one thing being a simpleton is another and ther is a fine line between the two...
Even Indian culture provides for God helps those who help themselves...
I really did not mean to come out as contradictory or offensive I respect your views this is just my take...

I hope that Kokila's plan for separating Gohem is to actually make Ahem not only concentrate on his work but also realise what Gopi means to him and perhaps we will have a love confession and a SR soon...nice post and good points made...

No problem with your opinion. This is a healthy discussion. I understand what you are saying.

I agree Gopi's character is unrealistic. But this is a world of fiction. The writers have to create characters that are larger than life to make the maximum impact. I don't think my mother or mil or I wiould give the kind of punishments Koki is giving to her son and dil in real life (locking Gopi in the store room, stopping Aham from going to work). If we lived in a joint family, can you imagine the storm this will create. I don't think any grown-up man who is a business tycoon, will accept ironing clothes as his punishment from his mother. These are all larger than life characters. If they show something good, it is to one extreme and evil is shown to the other extreme. Gopi is not a simpleton. She may come across that way, because the CV's want you to understand how good she is. There are plenty of times, we may have sacrificed ourselves to keep peace in the family - that does not make us stupid. We have made sacrifices for our children without expecting anything back. We have been sometimes taken in for a ride. This may not happen everyday as with Gopi does but then, we are real.

I totally agree with your larger than life depiction but a tinge of realism would not go a miss...
Now coming to Koki and her punishments a whole other topic...
