Hi Everyone!

So hair washing is done, now what can we expect from our Ahemji?

Well here are my thoughts. Enjoy!

OS: I Missed You

Ahem rushed back to his office, instructed his PA to hold his calls for at least fifteen minutes. He closed his office door firmly and pulled out his phone as he walked to his chair. His work had kept him occupied in the morning, but when he sat down to eat lunch and took the first bite of his food, he grimaced and remembered that his wife was yet unable to cook. No matter who cooks these days, the food just doesn't have the same taste. His black and green tea didn't taste the same either. He smirked when he remembered how he had brought her back to the land of the living after her surgery.

He dialed her number and waited for her to answer the phone, but it went straight to her voicemail after the fourth ring. He frowned as he disconnected, may be his mom was with her again, and she didn't want to upset his mom further by answering the phone. He decided to wait few minutes to call her back.

He leaned back in his chair to rest his head back. As soon as he closed his eyes his mind went back to the scene from that morning. He smiled remembering the nervous and terrified look on her face when she saw him with the bucket full of water, shampoo and a towel. She had nervously asked him what he was doing.

At the time he hadn't been thinking about anything but making her comfortable. When she voiced her inability to wash her hair, he had understood her dilemma and a need to wash her hair. He understood how she must have felt all those days when she had been unable to wet her hair because of the bandages. When he realized no one else was available to help her, he had immediately come up with a plan to help her.

Ahem Modi! Admit it, you had an ulterior motive to help your wife wash her long, beautiful hair. Ahem couldn't deny taking advantage of the opportunity presented to him. As soon as he learned that all the ladies of the house, except for Rashi, wouldn't be around to interrupt his alone time with his wife, he executed his plan quickly. He had quickly dealt with her protests and assured her he had no problem washing her hair.

She had finally given up arguing when he firmly told her to stop arguing and lie back so he could wash her hair. He had smirked behind her back and thought, it never fails, it works every time. As soon as he speaks to her sternly, she agrees just to make him happy. He saved that tone of his voice as a last resort. If she thought she was in anyway putting her comfort above his or anyone else's she always put her needs aside to make the other person more comfortable, most especially him and this is when he had to get tough with her.

In the past few months he has really gotten to know Gopi well and the knowledge he gained about her made him change his mind about his wife completely. One by one she got rid of each of his misconceptions about her. He realized Gopi's most important goal in life was to make him, his mother and his family happy, in that order. He and his comfort were most important to her. What he was doing for her wouldn't even begin to make up for what she has done for him and his family, or what she has had to put up with being married to him.

Ahem flexed his hands remembering the silky softness of her hair. He had taken longer than necessary by gently massaging her head with his fingers. He had been pleased to see her enjoying his touch, but nothing lasts long with her, immediately she had voiced her concern regarding his shirt. He had shaken his head mentally at her inability to enjoy herself without worrying.

He had gone to the bathroom to put everything away and in that time his mom had arrived and he could see the fear on Gopi's face when his mom realized he had washed his wife's hair. He had kept his face blank, and waited to see if his mom would say anything. He hoped she wouldn't scold them unnecessarily like she did when she caught him massaging Gopi's foot, and to his relief his mom didn't say anything at all. And what did you do after your mom left? Ahem sighed at his inner voice. He had left instead of reassuring her. She must have thought he was annoyed with her.

He dialed her number again and waited impatiently to hear her sweet voice, but again all he heard was the mechanical voice at the other end. He wondered what she could be doing? He had sternly ordered her to stay out of the kitchen until she was completely healed and he knew she wouldn't disobey him, but still what else could she be doing?

She might have gone down to be with Baa and didn't take the phone with her. He realized Gopi wouldn't even think about carrying the phone around with her unlike her no good sister. He hoped Rashi hadn't talked her into doing something stupid. He will have to remind her to keep the phone with her so he can talk to her at least once during the day. No, that wouldn't work, his mom would be highly upset with her for acting like Rashi. He will have to tell her to call him when she was in the room by herself.

Ahem realized he will miss the time spent with his wife during her recovery, he will no longer have an excuse to rush home. He didn't want them to fall back on the old routine, he wanted to be able to speak to her when he was at the office, even if it was only for few minutes, it would be enough. He realized he missed his wife.

Ahem came home later than usual. Since Jigar was also out of station, his responsibility had fallen on Ahem. He went straight to his room, he closed and locked the door, once he saw his wife sitting on the bed reading a book. She immediately put the book away when she saw him and smiled her sweet smile.

Seeing her sweet smile angered him more. How dare she smile at him when all afternoon he called her several times just to hear her voice. Doesn't she realize he missed her? Now you are being childish Ahem, how would she know you missed her? Ahem gritted his teeth, well if she had answered her phone she would have known he missed her. He couldn't believe he has started to talk to himself so much lately.

She must have read the anger on his face because her smile faded and she looked away nervously. Ahem tried to control his anger, but didn't quiet succeed. "Where were you all day? Do you know how many times I called you?" She started stammering immediately. "Ji'woh mein, I mean I was downstairs since I was getting bored sitting by myself." Ahem clenched his hands and turned away. She was bored so she went downstairs, but didn't think to call him if she was bored. Fine if that is what she wants he won't force himself on her any longer. He marched to the wardrobe and pulled out his green kurta payjama and walked to the bathroom without looking at her.

Fifteen minutes later when he came out of the bathroom he was calmer. He saw Gopi sitting on the side of the bed her head down, she looked upset. It calmed him even more. He knew he had been unreasonable, but all day he had wanted to hear her sweet, soothing voice, but all he heard each time he called was the mechanical voice. His anger had built to the point of no return and first thing he did when he came into the room was blast her, instead of asking her how she felt. His inner was right, he had acted like a child whose favorite toy was taken away from him.

He walked towards the bed slowly and sat beside her. "Gopi, how are you feeling today?" Her head snapped up at his voice. "I am fine." She spoke hesitantly. "Did you eat good today, and did you take your medications on time?" She slowly nodded her head. He realized she was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

He looked away then cleared his throat and turned back to her. She was watching him with nervous anticipation. "Gopi, I am sorry I yelled at you as soon as I walked in. It's just that I called you several times and you didn't answer your phone one time." She took a relieved breath. "It's okay Ahemji. Did you want to talk to me about something?" Ahem shook his head. "No I just wanted to hear your voice and tell you I missed you." He was rewarded with her sweet smile again. He smiled back at her slowly. They didn't speak with their mouths, but their eyes were speaking volumes. They were lost in each other's eyes, it was just the two of them everything else seized to exist for them. But it didn't last long, few moments later a loud knock brought them back to reality. They heard Meethi call them for dinner.

They both stood up, he waited for her to walk ahead of him. She took few steps forward then stopped and turned back to him. "Ahemji I missed you too." She spoke shyly, she then turned and walked towards the door. If she had turned back, she would have been surprised and elated by the huge smile on his face as he followed her out the door.
