I have updated the next part..Its a bit long..Hope it doesn't bore you in anyway...Thanks and a 🤗 for all the comments and likes and for the appreciation you have given me..

Part 15

Aham came down hurriedly and he got a hard blow at his back..he said,oye..and without warning he got thuds and pinches at his various body parts and he found himself fall on couch..Sunil,rahul and vivek were trying their best to knock him off and he wrenched himself out from there and ran to find gopi coming towards them and he ran towards her and pulled her in front of him as a shield…Gopi was taken aback by his gesture but aham's friends were attacking him again..Gopi called out loud, suni..rahul..stop it..stop.." and they all stood glaring at him…

Sunil:where were you?can't you call us? Here we are searching out for you all over the place and you had gone ..no news..what do you think of yourself?

Gopi:Sunil..calm down..let him get some fresh air and he will tell you..come on..sit..

Aham took gulps and he looked at them as they one by one went on to occupy positions in couch and chairs and every one was looking at him hard…

Aham looked at them stammering and his eyes traveled around the room to find any help and his eyes went to rest on gopi.

He looked at her and she understood that he needs her help.She cleared her throat and said "eerm..well…he had gone to find some guest for our college day."Aham could see that nobody is believing her and he added "yes...i have gone to banglore for meeting some famous enigneers to talk and persuade them to come to our college"

Sunil:yeah..and why didn't you bother to tell us..

Aham:erm..

Gopi : yes aham,why didn't you call them or me..

aham glared at her : i was thinking of a surprise.

Rahul:And do you got one..

Aham : no..no body was intererested.

Sunil and vivek stared at him harder and aham kept his face blank..

Sunil : well..okey..next time if you go like this don't bother to come back if you love your life"

Aham smiled at him and looked at gopi..

Days passed and gopi continue to help him...she washed his clothes,recharged his phone,paid the bills,made food...Aham was more feeling like at home now…He now got his favorite food everyday and use his phone without thinking of bills and all..meanwhile Gopi was stressing her too much..She got studies to do and her job in textile shop, make food and all..But Gopi didn't seem to get tired as she was doing all these from her childhood itself..May be there was no aham at that time but there was always work…But the feelings have changed…Before,it was her duty to do all those but now she thinks as her right to do..She didn't realise it until aham got a call from banglore for presenting his project there..

It was a Saturday evening..Aham was, as usual, sitting in sofa relaxed and he got a call..He picked up the phone..Vikram sir's voice said, hello..aham..how are you?

Aham: Sir, hello..Is there anything further to do for college day."(Sir usually calls in to see the progress in collegeday celebrations)

Vikram:Yes aham..you will not be able to join us on collegeday..

Aham:Sir, but..am supposed to conduct..and ..

Vikram:Aham, do you remember me telling you that, every year some of the finest projects made by bright students from various institutes send to National presentation Meet

Aham:yes..

Vikram: And this time you are gonna be there..

Aham:what? Me(he stood up from the sofa)

Vikram:Yes..i have just received the fax..They have asked you to come there and present your project on Monday..

Aham:Wow…Sir..that's ..that's simply superb news..Thank you sir..

Vikram:No need to say that..well I will be assisting you of course on the trip..i will send you the details of the journey..

Aham:Okey..Sir..Thanks..

Aham was shaking all over due to excitement..His first thought was"Now I will show my father who I am.."

Gopi : Aham…what happened..

Aham came out of his thoughts and looked at gopi..Then only he realised that gopi is living there with him…

Aham:Gopi ..(he ran to her and hugged her tightly) Gopi..vikram sir had called just now..Guess what?Am gonna present my project on banglore…on national level…

Gopi who got her color rising in her cheeks due to his weight over her, stared at him..

Aham(shaking her):Gopi..i got it..once in a lifetime opportunity..

Gopi:aham, that's so good..i am so..(but aham got another call at that time and he looked at screen and it was written "anita calling" He left gopi there while she completed the sentence"..so happy for you"

Gopi stood in the spot as she saw aham's image moving upstairs talking loud and happy…As the image faded, gopi touched her face and she realized that her face is wet..She is crying..She went to kitchen..

She washed her face but even after wiping her face, tears were flowing non stop..She went to her room and closed the door and sat on the floor.."Am I jealous of him that he got this opportunity not me..? or is there something else.."

Slowly the realisation crept over her..She was not jealous..on the contrary it seems she is the most happiest person in the world to hear this news…Gopi's eyes flew open as she got this wave..She stood staring at the mirror..her own face reflected from it..but then it faded and an image of aham and her appeared where aham was hugging her and telling her about his victory and she saw her face..it was so filled with a different emotion she had never encountered…She thought what it was..

"Am I falling in love?", she contemplated her emotions and the first thing came to her mind was love.."No",a small voice said inside her head..When aham got the phone, when he left her to take the call of anita, yes,I felt lonely..felt jealous…

Gopi coming out of her thoughts smiled at her stupidity: how can I love him when I know that he is on love with another girl..When I have seen him happy with her..

Again she felt that feeling crept over her at the very thought..He is happy with anita, not her..It was like the very knowledge was eating her..Someone knocked on the door at the moment and gopi looked up.She heard aham calling from other side of the room.."Gopi..Open up.."Gopi stood up, adjusted her appearance and her hair and she went to open the door…Aham entered the room without any formal greetings and sat on her bed.Gopi looked at him as he strode past and wait for him to speak first.

But he was merely looking on the floor. Gopi took matter in her hands:What is it aham?Do you need something?

Aham(staring at her):I wanna see mom..

He let out his words before he realized it was too childish of him to say that..He looked to her face and his thought vanished..he knew she understand him perfectly..So he carried on

"I wanna see mom..to tell her that I got this chance..i have never felt this much happy but It will only be complete if l share it with my mom…"

Gopi looked at aham.When she was in college, she had seen him strutting around,giving help even to professors, always speaking confidently but only she know this vulnerable side of him..She thought he was like any other man whose life revolves around job-securelife-bankbalalnce..but no, aham modi got more priorities for relations..He cares about his family, particularly his mom..She had never encountered a man like this before. May be she had never been able to meet one..Gopi was looking at him out of the corner of her eyes..He was like a child to her now..She got a sudden urge to go to him and hug him and say "am here.." But aham's voice made her come out of her stupid thoughts..

Aham:Oye..Gopijee..are you listening..

Gopi:yes..you wanna see mom…okey..mm..lets see your mom always go to temple right?

Aham:yeah, but I don't want to meet her there..She will come with ramu, our driver.

Gopi:So?

Aham:So gopijee, if I go and talk to her, my father will knew and he will scold her.i don't want that.

Gopi:How about you talking to her without anyone's notice?

Aham:Is that possible?

Gopi:yes..i will make sure no one sees you while you talk with her..

Aham: Oh gopi,you are an angel..(he hugged her tightly and gopi looked at his figure hovering over her and she thought her options..she can either hug him or let go off him she contemplated on first option and thought why not and she try to pull her hands but then realized that her hands are jammed inside him and her..)

Aham let go off her and said,"Gopi..you tell me when to go..i will be ready.."

Gopi (with a disappointed look on her face):yes..tomorrow morning..6am

Aham:okey..(and he turned to leave..)

Gopi:aham, what did anita told you? { Gopi realized she had gone too personal..what was she thinking about?what's it to do with her ?}

Aham turned to face her and said, she had called to congratulate and she is gonna throw a party tomorrow..and he left a bewildered gopi who was busy digesting the last words..party..oh, yes..she is one step ahead of her and is gonna celebrate the success with him..she got the adrenaline rush back

Why will anita celebrate?what would I do? Sit here and see them dance and strut around..what about me?my feelings.. and a small voice said inside her head, feelings..you have got feelings for him..yes.ofcourse..am his..wife..(The thought came and she regretted it at once. Aham who helped her in a tight situation, who gone against his parents to support her, who was living a middleclass life only because of her..All these thoughts swelled in her and hot drops of tears swarm in her eyes..)

No Gopi..aham is not yours..he was always somebody else's …You have nothing to do with him..you have no right..She smiled feebly.

Morning

Aham called a busy gopi,who was making food,pressing his and her clothes, charging phones,packing dresses, for third time..

Gopi:what is it aham..can't you see am busy?

Aham ; Vikram sir had sent the mail about the details of flight and all..It's written that we had to catch a flight at early morning tomorrow and reach the hotel..

Gopi (turning around while cooking): "We" you are supposed to say "I" right?

Aham: What? Aren't you coming?

Gopi: Me? Why would I come?

Aham: but I thought ..how can I leave you here, all alone..?

Gopi: I had already made arrangements with anji..When you go , drop me at anji's house

Aham: what? You are gonna stay with her…her mummy will never allow that..

Gopi : You don't worry about that..i will manage..

Aham: But..no..you can come with me..i can call vikram sir and ..(His voice trailed away by the stern look of her eyes..it was a typical "Haven't I told you, No" look)

Aham : But how are you supposed to live there for so many days?

Gopi : you are going for one day, I thought?

Aham; Yeah..but now vikram sir had said in the mail that after presentation there will be some talks and all..if they get impressed by my presentation they will provide me a contract with one leading company.So if that happens I will have to stay there for some more days..

Gopi: but that sounds cool..so not to worry..i will manage..you present well..okey..

Aham: yeah..(He went to the basin and tried to wash over the pan she had put there and made it fall on the floor)

Aham: I was ..trying to help..

Gopi (looking at the spilled oil on the floor): That is not considered as help…why don't you go and change yourself while I mop these up?

Aham : yes..but why do I need to change..for eating breakfast(he smiled at his joke which faded away at once seeing gopi's quizzical look)

Aham:what?

Gopi:I thought you told me you wanna meet maaji..i mean your mom…

Mandir

Aham:That's him ramu,if he sees us…

Gopi:come on aham he won't see you…(she corrected him) You go to the backside of temple from where you can see a small path leading to

Aham:Devi mandir..

Gopi:wow..you had come here before

Aham;Why?

Gopi: men usually don't come at temples..

Aham: you seem to know more men..

Gopi(blushed at his reply) : Leave it..I will make your mom to come there and you can talk to her there..nobody will see you

Aham:okey..(he turned but then he wondered how is she going to make her come there?and he turned to ask this but gopi was already gone)

Aham went to the backside of temple and waited anxiously..

Gopi entered the mandir and went to pandit who was busy giving out thalis(pooja thali) to everyone there..She raised her hands when kokila raised her hands and koki's eyes met gopi..She looked at gopi for some minutes then,without showing any signs that she is familiar to her, took the plate and went to do the pooja..Pandit gave the thali to gopi next, then gopi said, panditjee..i wanna do a pooja with my husband..(kokila while doing pooja gave a glance at her side) so you have to wait..He has gone to devi mandir first…Pandit nodded and he went on but gopi's eyes were fixed on kokila who hurriedly finish off her pooja and went towards the other side..

Aham was busy looking at the walls of mandir, trying to decipher the devi - devas of mural painting, kokila called…"aham.."Aham's ears turned at the familiar sound for which they have been yearning for so many days..he turned to see his mom, his strength, and stared at her..Kokila was looking like she would collapse and aham went to her and she almost sat on the floor and aham supported her and made her sit while he sat on the stairs..He hungrily looked at his mom..for her anger to burst out, her love to flow..to scold him,to say something to him…Kokila was looking aham like she has seen her for the first time..Both son and mother stared at each other for a long time and there was complete silence except the pooja which was gong on in the other end..it was like ram had came back to kousalya after his 14yrs in jungle in Ramayana..

Kokila :aham…(tears began to flow as she talked) how could you do this to me.?no whereabouts..you gone without telling me..you never thought of me,do you? Just gone like that never remembered me..(all words were broken and smitten by tears but aham knew if she hadn't been crying she would have probably raged at him for leaving her alone)

Aham: Mom..i was..i always thought of you..i was ..(he was also crying) you were always there but dad..

Kokila: you couldn't do a call..or at least send someone to me saying you live here..how can you aham

Aham: I thought if you can to see me dad will know and he will scold you

Kokila: Aham, if I had known you came here every morning, I would have always come..not just on this particular day

Aham:No mom..i am here because I wanna tell you something..something important..(He began telling her the presentation he is gonna present and kokila, who was looking at him as he is a 5yr old kid, patted him lovingly on the back and aham began telling her all the details of travel and all, kokila's eyes again started flowing knowing her son has make Modi's proud,kokila proud but not only kokila and aham, there was one more person who was silently crying seeing mom-son reunion and how aham is more happy seeing his mom after a long time..Gopi couldn't control herself and left the place..

Within some time,aham gave a picture of his and gopi's life in the guest house and kokila's eyes went wide hearing her son is living off in some other girl's money..

Kokila took her handbag and placed a bundle of money on his hand :aham, take this,..you don't need to ask money from that girl..Do ask whenever you need some

Aham:but mom..i can't take this..if dad get to know

Kokila:he will not know…I will look to it..but you are gonna take that money..

Aham:Mom..i(Kokila looked at him and he know that look very well..now a days he seem to get that look more than often…😉)

Aham reached back and called for gopi..Gopi came from outside and said

aham, you are here..i was looking for you at the temple..when have you left?

Aham: I left..it was you who left..i was searching everywhere for you but I didn't found you

Gopi: No aham I was in the temple..

Aham:what's that in your hands?

Gopi(hiding the small packet she was holding): this..its nothing…and she went past him upstairs…

Aham:Gopi..am going out with sunil,rahul and vivek,,do you need something?

Gopi:No…(she left without glancing back towards aham's room..She stuffed the bundle in to aham's bag and hide it properly with his clothes and let out a sigh)

wow...loved the update...the reunion between ahem and his mother was just heart wrenching...and gopi witnessing it silently with tears!!!!!...looks like gopi has fallen for ahem...and ahem has no clue what so ever and keeps hugging her!!!!ahems tide is turning...will he look back at gopi when he gets the contract ...gopi studying,working and looking after the household is so selfless...hope ahem realises this soon...thanks for the pm...
