PART 7

Loud romantic song was showering upon them as aham and anitha moved on the centre of the hall. Others were also playing but the emanating radiation from them was so powerful that even in the flickering lights, they were seen by all of the contenders. Anji and sunil were also playing at the end of the hall. Sunil were stealing glances at anitha only to get full attention of anji on him.

Sunil :I will get some drink for us..

Anji : okey..i will wait outside.

Sunil : why outside?we can have it here?

Anji : No..its so noise here..Need a break..you go and get them..

Sunil :yeah…

Anji walked outside. Moonlight was shimmering upon the water in the fountain situated in front of the aham's big mansion. She took out her mobile only to see 24 missed calls from gopi.

Anji(thought) :Oh God..it's her marriage too..what was I thinking…didn't think about her …

She dialed gopi's number.

Shah house

Gopi is sitting in front of the mirror. Many girls were there too who were helping gopi to put ornaments. Gopi is wearing a red lehenga, not much thread work, but a clean and neat one.She is looking like she has been sick but after wearing some jewellery, she looked like a doll.Urmi entered the room.

Urmi: Is gopi ready?

Everyone turned around and urmi saw her daughter's reflection in the mirror cute as ever.

Urmi: want to talk to her in private.Will all of you go and wait outside.?

After everyone left, urmi closed the door and went near gopi. When she neared her enough, gopi put her hands around her mother's stomach and rested his head there.

Urmi: How can you remain so calm, gopi? When you know, your life is going to ruin in just one day ?

Gopi(half smiling) : why will I, ma? Am getting married..you remember, when I was a child, I used to be the shy bride and geetha my goom. She used to tease me a lot. Now, am living my dream..right?

If water has any power, urmi's face may have burnt that time as her eyes couldn't control the falling drops.

Urmi: this is all that man's fault..aham modi…he have lured you…he is the sole reason..he ruined your life.

Gopi (shockingly) : Ma, No…he was trying to help me..it was that police..he framed us…

She told her all the events that happened at goa.

Urmi's eyes widened with shock.

Gopi: Its my fate..only mine…(she was holding herself up so as to not break down, not in front of her ma as urmi is already worried..) He has nothing to do with it..He had only helped me..

Urmi : Gopi, my daughter, that fellow raju..he is rajeev's friend..i think he is cheating us..you know your Brother-in-law…surely there must be some game..

Gopi: ma, don't get afraid..am fine..see..am smiling..(she smiled feebly looking at urmi)

Urmi hugged her and without any notice, tears fallen thick in to gopi's lap..Her cheeks, which were a moment ago, pinkish in colour, turned in to red..

Urmi(taking a small bottle): Gopi..your ma couldn't help you..but I will not let you live a worst life..if ever, you broke down, then take this .It will help you remove all the sufferings.

Gopi looked at the bottle. And she looked at her mom. Both of them hugged each other. Outside door, Geetha's eyes widened with shock of what she heard and seen.

Geetha(to herself) : what do I do? This is all my fault..i loved him and married him, now my whole family is reaping its reward..I will not let my sister suffer..(she took gopi's mobile which gopi had given her before going to get ready for mehndi ceremony)

She scanned the number list and found the name she was looking at..She dialed the number…not once but 24 times…

Mehndi ceremony

All villagers were present at the function..Girls, women all were dancing to various tunes when urmi accompanied with gopi and other womenfolk in village. Gopi was looking cute as tears have washed her face thoroughly and gave her a glowing, blushing look. Raju, with his parents, came there. Raju came to near Rajeev."My parents are not interested in this marriage..Only because of our friendship am taking risk.."

Rajeev:I know…Just keep calm and quiet..My plan will work out as I dreamt..

Urmi were applying mehndi on gopi's face, hands and legs. An elderly looking woman asked,'where is geetha?"

Urmi: she will be doing some work. She will come.

Inside geetha's room

Geetha:why anji is not taking the phone? Where is she? (Phone rings)

Anji: Gopi..are you okey?i have seen your missed calls..

Geetha: its me geetha..

Anji: oh..where's gopi?

Geetha: Can you come here,anji? Gopi needs her best friends help now..please..

Anji: What happened?

Geetha : Her mehndi ceremony is going on outside..and on the day after tomorrow, her marriage will take place..

Anji: mehndi? Marriage?,What are you saying...? I will come..

Geetha: please come fast..she is going through a terrible state.(by saying this, she hung up the phone)

Anji clutched the mobile tight in her hands.

Sunil:here's the drink,anji….Anji..Anji..(he called)

Anji looked at him in a trance..

Sunil:what happened anji, why are you crying?

Anji realized that her eyes is full of tears as Sunil is seen as vague only .

Anji:I have to go sunil…now..you take care..bye..

Sunil:hey..hey..where are you going? Its aham's marriage..you can't go like that..

Anji: please suni..its gopi..She needs me…

Without uttering another word or looking back, she left. Sunil stood there watching her petite figure going, holding the glasses. A look of compunction dawned on him. He uttered"Gopi".

Back in the hall, sunil told vivek and rahul about what anji said.

Vivek: suni, may be gopi's parents need some information on what exactly happened at goa..leave it..anji will take care of everything..

Sunil: No..yaar..i think its some serious matter. I want to go..

WHAT ?

Aham came from behind and a look of mixed emotions was playing on his face. "You are leaving?"

Sunil: aham..you gave a fright yaar…yeah,I want to go..not now but tomorrow..its anji..

Aham (showing his index finger to stay quiet) : SHUT UP..you are leaving..what about my marriage?

Vivek: we are here dude..

Rahul : Let him go..

Aham : No, I need all my friends here..

Sunil : Its urgent aham…try to understand..

Aham : Suni, (looking at him) , okey..you want to go..GO…but just listen to me.

Sunil : yeah..go on..

Aham : you know my dad..he will not allow me anything…he had asked me to stop all the habits of me..so I just want to enjoy this marriage-free days..with you guys..

Sunil : Oh…okey..What do you want? come with us ?

Ahem : yes.

Vivek : hey..man..its his marriage on Sunday..

Sunil : its on evening right..besides, we can come back tomorrow itself..

Aham: where are you going anyway? Anji's house?

Sunil :No…she has gone to see gopi.We are going to rajpalNagar, Gopi's village.

Aham : Am not coming…suni..you know my father..if he gets to know that we have gone there..he will kill me..

Sunil : come on aham..you don't need to come there or see her..i will drop you guys in the outside of rajpalnagar..you don't have to cross the gate. Stay there until I come..then we will all come back..

Rahul : okey…but the problematic thing is who's gonna ask aham's papa about this?

Vivek and aham pointed at sunil .

Sunil: No way..i will ask his mother only..

Aham: I can tell my mom…sunil, you call me when it's time,..okey

Sunil: okey…
