PART 29:
"Now you are confusing me...I thought you said due to her heart condition the baby was to be aborted so how can he be bhai and bhabi's child." Jigar asked looking puzzled " well that's because the abortion never took place... when we got to Australia,Di was put on medication and was hospitalised through out her pregnancy to be monitored both for her health and the baby... Things started to get complicated as her heart is weakening as her pregnancy advances so at seven months the remove the baby ans put him in an incubator whilst at the same time they operated her heart. During the operation Di's heart gave up and lucky for her there was one available for hers to be changed but as always faith has other things in store for her. Her body rejected that one and therefore she waited for so long for a transplant but Di refused to ave it done and so far they were able to close the hole and put her on medication. Jigarji, Di has sufferred too much and is not happy living in foreign land, she wants to come home but does not know how to face the family. We have to do some thing to bring her happiness back."
Jigar was emotionally drained with all the new painful information he is consuming and Kajal understood his pain and said " Jigarji you need to rest as you have had too much to take in." He stared into her eyes questioning whether it's okay for him to stay over. " you can take the guest room up and relax whilst I see what to make again for dinner..." She said but was interupted " oh no I remember promising mum that I will be home for dinner so I'll see you tomorrow to plan things effective."
She was disappointed but was glad that they have sorted there differences and that he is still waiting for her. Before he left, he gave her a tight hug and a kiss on her head.
At MM Hetal was impatiently waiting for Jigar to come home and before her worries escalated the door bell rang and was glad that it was him but his mum was not having it and for the first time was telling him off "how many times have I told you to always carry your phone and charger. You should have been here more than an hour ago and everyone is worried what might ha..ve ..happen to you too. This home has already lost one son and we don't..." she trailed off and Jigar felt bad and hug his mum apologizing and said things will be alright. " No Jigar nothing is right here or the same and for the past fiv..." Maa please you have to stop doing this, all of you need to pull together...we cannot live in the past and we cannot change what happened but rectify it and stick together and besides am missing my mum's wonderful dishes but looks like dinner will be served at the door." They both smiled at his joke and moved to the dinner.
Jogar was surprised to see his Kaki at the table for the first time since... but the sadness in her eyes pinched his heart...all her hopes and dream died with bhai...she does not shout at the maids or anyone... " Mithi what this" demanded his kaki in her controlling voice and all their faces have the same reaction as if to say welcome back. After dinner and when they were all seated in the launch kokila started" I know you are all worried about me but am fine and last night kanaji saw me a dream of ...ommm...Gopi bahu...I know it's silly as I have being dreaming of the same one for long but this one she is with a child..." Jigar cough as he was choking on his drink and wondered what wonder kanaji can send messages of the heart and if only his kaki knew the truth but how is her to break it and just then a brilliant idea cross his mind and knew he will have tell Kajal.
"Jigar!!" his mum interrupted his thoughts before we all go to bed we have some thing important to discuss with you. Now he can feel his heart tightening as if to warn him of some danger coming his way. " Well we have fixed your marriage with..." Jigar dropped his glass shattering it to pieces like his heart is at this moment. All the elders looked at him with "you knew it going to happen one day" look. " Mum please the situation in our family is such..." Jigar you were telling Motabhabi that we need to move on and why should you be left behind and besides you have agreed for us to find you a wife and don't worry you will meet her before we finalise the wedding date and Jigar it will be a quiet one with families only so you need not worry much." Kokila stated " Yes beta all you have to do is see her and talk to avoid any misunderstandings in your lives" Chirag added "And we need an heir to this family before I perish". All turned to see Baa just managing to move in slow motions with the aide of Naaniji who came and took their place and all join in gruelling him to this alliance.
Later tat night, in his room Jigar could not make out what happened but seeing his whole family together and chatting and even making small jokes brought delight and pure joy to his heart and even agreed to meet the girl in question, who is the daughter of one of Naaniji neighbours. He lay on bed and watching the ceiling and suddenly the image of the most beautiful girl that stole his heart appeared. He looked at the smiling image and smiled back and..." kajal!" he exclaimed and got up quickly and knew what wrong he has done, in his happiness seeing his family he forgot her and has now literally committed himself with such an alliance. "Oh God I need to talk to her and my family". He then dialled her number hoping she is awake.
"Hello" as if she was dreaming she said in her sweetest voice "It me Kajal and so to call you this late but I need to speak with you urgently so please meet me tomorrow at our restaurant" "hmmm" is all she gave and both hang up.
They met in the evening straight from at their corner area but Kajal can sense tension vibrating from him and the spark dimmed. " It's everything okay cause you seems tense and you can share whatever is disturbing you with me...Jigarji! are you listening" touching him lightly on the shoulder and giving him a worrying look. " Kajal it's just that I have put myself through a huge burden and I honestly have no idea how to get out of it and most importantly this can hurt us...i mean it can have an impact on our relationship." She was becoming worried but want to show her support and love for him, so she place her hand over his and lightly massage it encouraging him to tell her and assuring him with her eyes that all will be well. So he went on and told her all that happened including the marriage proposal but was surprise at her reaction to his details. " Jigarji I too can understand your dilemma but you have to understand your family's point of view. After Ahemji, they only have you to lean on and would do any thing to protect you and your happiness as their happiness is connected to. Now tell me this if you tell them you want to marry me, the sister of Sanjay Singhania, the one who stopped them from seeing their bahu's body or to take part in the funeral rituals, will they approve... even if they do will be for your happiness and that's why they want you to see and approve her yourself to avoid future blame. It would not hurt to do that much for them.So please don't worry yourself too much and one most important thing you should always remember is " if your love is strong, then it can stand all obstacles in life and I have full faith in you Jigarji to do right by all."
" Thanks Kajal for lifting my spirits, you being here, very supportive, attentive and giving me a shoulder to lean on is great deal for me. You know I have come here many time imaging us here like this as a couple and today my love for you has lifted." How does he confess so easily she can't understand but was blushing pink and more when he added " I confess from the heart" and gave her a smirk.
"Oh by the way I have come with the perfect idea into bringing bhabi and Angad here..." "Jigarji" she shouted confusing him but followed her gaze and bingo he saw him after how many years coming here see him, there he was and with his small group. He instantly got up and rushed out and Kajal follow him after paying their bill.
Jigar was running with all the speed power in his legs and not once removing his eyes off him and finally caught up with them and stopped them panting. He was out of breath and seems his tongue was caught in his throat at that instant Kajal too reach there and was stunned to see him. Take off the beard and clean him well and there is Ahemjiju.
The emotions of seeing his bhai overwhelmed his so much he was hugging the man, who was confused and was looking at the other two people with him for support. " bhai where have you been, how could you do this to me,why bhai, why?" He was crying and throwing questions at all angle leaving the man more confused and suddenly pulled away."
"Listen young man I do not know you nor am I your brother...yes I have a sister who is married..." " I know bhai, Kinjal and she is married to Dawalji." "My sister's name is not Kinjal but Tara and..." "Listen mister this is my husband,Ram and we have been married for eight years now and this is our daughter Radha and myself Rani. We are poor and beg for food but are not stupid to be fooled by your looks. You think you can take my husband and us and sell us well you cannot so leave us alone."
Both Jigar and Kajal could not believe that's not Ahem " no it has to be him, the features, looks, build and voice...it has to be him" thought Jigar and he was not ready to believe that someone can resemble his bhai to the core. "Ahem bhai please don't say that am not your brother, how can you forget your kid brother whom you have taught to ride bycicle,poke mango and..." " If you want to make me your brother then it's your business but am telling your again this is my family,Rani my wife and Radha our daughter and I do not have a brother so please leave my hand as we need to make a living." He snatched his hand and moved his family away leaving them shattered.
