Aham is telling Kokila, please mum, one mistake of hers is enough to get nullify all her good deeds, wow...😡 (can you imagine, his that stubborn and unforgiving).
But Gopi comes there, having made her decision to study and is looking resigned to his hate of her.
What I wished she had the balls to say, is stop Aham, I want to speak to you and Maji and show them the card and tell them both I want to go to school. That long speech of Kokila's, why Gopi was chosen, should have been heard by Aham, because she tells him to calm down, but she has never once told him the reason she chose an illiterate to be his wife. Then Aham would have said his peace to them both, most likely that someone who is illiterate is useless and will carry on making mistakes, Kokila would have had to give in and allowed her to study.
But the actual GoHam moment Gopi looking at Aham with the resigned look, but Aham, taking a few steps and feeling almost guilty having been caught in the act of saying to his mum that her good deeds are nullified, then he stares at her unable to walk past her for a few seconds, not that he is hampered by her blocking his path (he could have gave her a disgusted look, and brushed past her quickly, if what he just said to his mother was true right?), but he can't tear his eyes from her eyes, then she breaks contact and tries' to pull her pallu over her head, now i think that pallu reminds Aham of her status in his life, the marriage in name only and off course her uneducated nature, of not perceiving things for what there are.
The uneducated wife with the pallu signifies, to me anyway, that she is unable to know that covering her face from him is useless to do, as he sees her face anyway and the vows she took back, she is still acting his wife, bringing him tea, going with him to play cricket, dancing dandiya, going to choose gift for anniversary etc, all this is supporting her husband therefore the reversing of the vows was nullified by these acts and he accepting her help.
p.s.favourite word for this post is nullified...😆
