Part 16

That night Gopi once again sucessfully avoids Ahem, by pretending to be asleep when he comes to the door. Ahem still confused by her behavior, he thought he was sucessful on the night that she fasted for him, but once again she has put walls up between them, he reluctantly goes back to his room and goes to sleep

Next morning Ahem, Gopi and Kinjle leaves for the jewlery shop, Ahem is driving, sneaking looks in the mirror at Gopi who is sitting in the back, because Kinjle was already sitting in the front seat when Gopi came out, Gopi is looking out the window and not paying attention to the two in the front. Kinjle is bit worried because Umang was threatening to come to the shop,

When they get to the shop Ketki and Elesh are already there, everyone is greeted and escorted into the shop. They start looking at jewlery for the wedding, Gopi not saying much just observing. Ahem is standing beside her to see if she was intrested in anything, but finally decided he wanted to buy something for her, so asks the sales person to show him necklece with a heart pendant. Ketkiben says you have a very good taste Ahem, in jewlery and wife, Gopi surprised looks at him and looks away, she had a instant flash back of the 5 lakh necklace, she flet Ahem take the necklace and put it around her neck, she starts to protest, but he looks at her in the mirror and points to Ketkiben who is watching them, this stops Gopi, she thinks he is pretending to impress Kinjle's MIL. Ahem says to sales person I will take this, please give me a box and a bill. Ahem's phone rings, and he starts to walk away as he is talking and bumps into someone, he looks up to see Umang standing there, which takes him in to flash back of Anita and what she had said to him at their last meeting, and he gets mad, he stares at Umang for few seconds then turns and walks away to resume his conversation, but his temper is boiling.

Gopi notices but does not realize the reason for his temper. Kinjle is nervous, keeps looking over her shoulder to make sure Umang doesn't do anything, but by then Umang had also left after seeing Ahem and then noticing Gopi, which made him mad and he was thinking one way another he is going to make sure Gopi also paid for coming in between Anita and Ahem. Gopi is also observing his reaction and the way Kinjle was getting nervous and thinks something is not right.

When the shopping is complete all three get in the car to go back home, all three are lost in their own thoughts. When they return to MM, Gopi immediately goes to the kitchen to help prepare dinner, but Rashi refuses her help and tell her to leave the kitchen, Koki says Gopi don't worry Rashi wants to cook dinner today, let her cook.

Kinjle goes to her room to wait for Umangs call, Ahem in his room pacing, still mad after seeing Umang, he couldn't seem to figure out why he was so mad, all he kept hearing is what Anita had said to him.

When Gopi goes to her room she notices the box for the necklace on her dresser and decide to take the necklace off and return it Ahem, she didn't want to keep anything from him and being accused of being a thief later. Beside she was thinking he was only pretending, he wasn't really buying necklace for her, that was just to impress Kinjles in laws.

After putting the necklace back in the box she goes to Ahem's room, she sees that he is still upset, so she knocks on the door when he turns she goes to him and offers him the box, he looked confused, and asks her what is this, she says its the necklace, I just wanted to give it back to you, he asks her why, so she says I am only here temporary, you might want to give this to someone else some day. This makes him mad and in temper he says the most hurtful words to her, he says, that's right this probably isn't expensive enough for you, its not like the 5 lakh necklace you ordered before.

Gopi steps back and turns pale she flinches away from him as if he had slapped her, and looks at him with pain in her eyes, and thinks, once again he breaks my heart, how many times will he do this before my heart starts listening to me and givre up on him.

Ahem immediately regreted what he said to her, he knew that was uncalled for, as a matter of fact he had realized long time ago that she couldn't have ordered the necklace, but after the meeting Umang, who reminded him of Anita he took his temper out on Gopi. Before he could apologize to her she dropped the box on the floor and ran out of the room, and he realized she had tears in her eyes, once againg he broke her heart, and he knew now it will be even harder to get close to her then before. He decided to let her be for awhile and speak to her later that night.

Part 17

Gopi is in her room, dejected and sad by what Ahem said to her, music playing in the background

Gopi thinking about all that has happened in the past, her engagement day, even then she had a feeling he was reluctant to marry her, on the day he accused her about the necklace and then slapping her when he found out she didn't know how to read and write, on the day she saved his life and how he had said to her he would rather die then be saved by her, all those incidents and more are going thru her head, she finally breaks down and starts to cry, feeling she is right back where she started. Meanwhile in Kinjle's room, Kinjle on the phone with Umang, he want to meet with her that night, she tells him she cannot leave the house at night, he tells her he is going to come see her at her home, she gets nervous and starts to argue with him, he gets angry with her, he yells at her about Gopi being back and they have to figure out a way to get her, Kinjle then remebers an inciden where she had seen Gopi with lot of money and how she was trying to hide it in her cubbard, she tells Umang this and they come up with a plan to once again accuse Gopi to get her out of the house.

Everyone is at the dinning table, waiting for Rashi to serve dinner, Koki asks Mani to get Gopi from her room. Ahem is quiet still regretting what he said to Gopi, and thinks he has to apologize to her tonight no matter what, he has to get her to talk to her. Mani comes back and says to Koki, Nanibhabhi, woh Gopi bhabhi is asleep, both Koki and Parag gets worried for her, Ahem notices this, he says to his mom he will go wake her, but Koki stops him saying, leave it, I will go up later, she needs her rest. Hetal asks Koki is Gopi ok, why don't you want to wake her? Koki just says she is fine, I will go talk to her later, everyone confused by this, not realizing Gopi doesn't sleep well at night. Koki looks over at Parag who nods his head. Ahem again observing this, thinks to himself he has to find out what his parents know, maybe then he can see how he can help Gopi and come close to her.

Rashi served dinner, which was very tasteless, no one commented, because everyone wanted to eat peacefully, Ahem had lost his appetite and he was still worried for Gopi. He goes up to her room to check on her, she looked so peaceful sleeping, he notices tear tracks on her face and want to kick himself for once again making her weak and cry. She had come such a long way and his carless words sent her right back to being sad and feeling as though she didn't belong anywhere.

Ahem goes back to his room to finish some pending work, Koki also checks on Gopi to make sure she is ok and goes to her room, she has decided to tell Ahem all that she has been thru in past months, to make him understand how much Gopi needed his love and support.

Later that night Umang sneaks into MM he brives the guards to look other way to get in the grounds, he sneaks into the house, meanwhile another thief also sneaking in while guards are lookig other way. Umang texts Kinjle to meet him in the front, meanwhile the thief is sneaking in the house thru an open window. Kinjle sneaks Umang in the house thru the back door and takes him to her room.

Meanwhile Gopi is having nightmares because of the events of the day, she is dreaming of Ahem slapping her, and taking her wedding vows back over and over, but she didn't tell anyone is that when she is having nightmares she walks in her sleep and that is the reason she avoid deep sleep at night, she never told anyone becase she was afraid someone might play trick on her, but on this night all has caught up with her and she does not realize she is out of bed and walking in her sleep.

She walks down with eyes open and is noticed by the thief, who is thinking his going to get caught runs towards her, not realizing her eyes are open but not focused, he pushes her hard which makes her fall into the table, she wakes up all of a sudden and screams from pain.

Kinjle and Umang are surprised, Kinjle asks Umang to hide, while she check on what's going on, meanwhile the whole house hold wakes up hearing Gopi screaming. Ahem is the first one down and sees Gopi is on the floor strugling to get up, he goes to her and helps her stand and asks her what happened, she is unable to anwser, thinking she was sleep walking and crashed into a table, evryone is gathered around her, suddenly they hear a crash and Ahem and Jigar run towards the noise to see what happened, the saw a figure running off the grounds towards the road, they go over to question the guards at the gate.

Meanwhile Kinjle trying to cause commotion and distract the family so Umang can sneak out, starts accuising Gopi of having an affair and inviting her boyfriend to meet her at the house, Gopi trying to deny but Kinjle getting loud and accusing her while everyone looking at her shocked.

Ahem and Jigar walk in, they were unable to find out anything from the guards, just as Kinjle was saying how she saw Gopi with lot of money two days ago and how she was trying to hide it. Gopi was unable to say anythinig because someone had given that money to her to hold it until's Kinjles wedding, everyone except Ahem and Koki is looking at Gopi with questions in their eyes and assuming her guilty. Koki and Ahem realizes she is holding something back just watches her and waits for her anwser. Before she could say anything Parag anwsers, no one had noticed him backing back from checking on Baa, he shouts at Kinjle to shut up and says stop asking Gopi all those questions. He goes to Gopi and say dikra why didn't you tell them I gave you that money to hold until Kinjle's wedding, everyone is shocked including Koki and Ahem and thinking, where he got the money from and why did he give it to Gopi to hold it.

Parag turns to everyone and says yes that is my money that she is holding and the reason she has it is because if it wasn't her encouragement and support for past months I wouldn't have that money. He explains that the money came from the sell of his first poetry book, which is being published soon, everyone is surpresed and shocked. Parag turns to Koki who has tears in her eyes, and says I was going to surprise you with my first book and the money for the wedding.

Everyone is surprised and goes to Parag to congratulate him, in all the commotion no one noticed that Umang had snuck out, but Gopi had noticed him briefly thinking she had seen him somewher but could not remember, while everyone is congratulating Parag, Gopi also backs away and leaves from there.

Part 18

When everyone finish congrarulatin Parag they look around and sees that Gopi is not there and they are sad, becuase once again because of someone's accusations Gopi was disappinted and hurt. Ahem starts to go up but Koki stops him and say Ahem leave her for now, I need to speak to you, come to my room first. Koki, Parag and Ahem goes to Koki's room.

Everyone else go back to their room and decide to talk about what to do about the thief in the morning. Kinjle was mad because her plan to accuse Gopi and get her out of the house did not work. Rashi also mad, because Gopi instead to being accused became the good DIL of the MM.

Koki tells Ahem, I wanted to tell you something about what Gopi has been thru after that night so you can understand her better. Between Parag and Koki they explain everything that happened to Gopi in the first month after she left the house. Ahem listens quietly and is devastated hearing what she had gone thru and was still going thru because of him and his treatment of her.

Koki pleads to Ahem and says please dikra only you can stop her from leaving again. She needs your support and love. She has been thru so much since she was a child living with her Mami and Rashi. If she has another breakdown like before we will loose her. Ahem listening to his mom says, I know I have hurt her alot and you too, I wanted to tell you what happened with Anita, I wanted to tell you I never loved her, but didn't realize it unitil it was too late, only reason Anita wanted to marry me was our money and name, and that's when I realized what big mistake I would have made if I hadn't listen to you.

He goes to Koki and sits beside her and takes her hands and says, Mom believe me I never meant to hurt you this much, and as for Gopi, ever since I brought her back, I have been trying to get close to her but she won't let me. She is not like before, she avoids me, and once again I hurt her earlier in the day, when we came back from the jewelery store. He has tears in his eyes and continues and says, I am afraid she won't let me get close to her, I don't even know if she still loves me like she did before, or did I kill her love with my mistreatment of her, but believe me mom, I am starting to love her more than my life, if only I could get close to her. Parag speaks up from behind Ahem and says Koki I think its time you should call your mother to come early for the wedding. Koki immediately gets what Parag is saying. She knows that if anyone can get Gopi and Ahem together it would be her mother, and agrees with Parag.

She turns to Ahem and says don't worry we will get Nani to come early I will call her first thing in the morning, meanwhile I want to perform pooja to bring peace in the house, I want you and Gopi to perform this pooja together, once you start doing all the rituals as a couple she will have to come close to you, now why don't you try and get some rest, and check on Gopi first. Ahem leaves from there.

Gopi is in her room standing by the window, not looking at anything, deep in thought, and afraid to lay down and go to sleep again. She is aftaid if she goes to sleep the nightmares will start again. She doesn't even notice that she is hurt from the crash in the table.

Ahem walks up behind her and says Gopi, you are hurt, let me put some medicine on your wounds, Gopi surprised and turns towards him, and says don't worry about it I will be ok, I can put the medicine myself, you go to sleep. Ahem takes her arm and says shut up, enough with your stubonness, I know you can handle yourself, I know you don't want to be near me, but you need care, now come with me, saying this he takes her to his room and makes her sit on the bed while he goes to get the medicine box. He comes back with the medicine box and starts cleaning her wounds and put ointment on them. After he is done, he asks her if she was hungry since she didn't eat dinner, she shakes her head no, he starts to argue but noticed she looked scared and worried.

He says to her don't worry you can go to sleep now, the thief is not likely to come back, but she doesn't say anything to this. He realizes something and says to her were you having a nightmare tonight? She looks at him and slowly nods her head and turns away, he brings her face towards him and says was it because what I said to you, did it bring memories back for you, once again she nods her head yes, then he asks her, what woke you from sleep, did you hear something, did you see the thief when you went downstairs.

Gopi looking scared and with tears in her eyes says I don't know, Ahem looks confused, what do you mean you don't know, do you not remember? Gopi with more tears in her eyes, explains to him hesitantly at first, she says to him sometime when I am having nightmares I am so deep in sleep, I don't even know how it happens, but I walk in my sleep and that's what must have happened. Ahem shocke thinking, oh god, the thief could have killed her in that state and she would have never known, he is thinking he could have lost her tonight, and then thinks more and says, is that why you don't sleep much at night? She anwsers yes.

He goes to her and says from now on you sleep in here with me, if you have nightmares you won't worry about sleep walking because I will be here to wake you, Gopi starts to protest, but he interrupts her and say you slept in here the other night wihtout any problems, Gopi flushing, remembering how she woke up with his arm around her, she nods her head.

He smiles because he knows why she is blushing. He says its settled then, you will only sleep with me from now on, he takes her to bed lays her down and covers her, he turns the light off and goes on the other side of the bed and lays down. He wants to put his arms around her, but he didn't want to scare her so he takes her hand and holds it with both of his and tells her to go to sleep, he will be right there if she has nightmares or is she sleep walks, Hearing this Gopi finally closes her eyes and goes to sleep, after a while Ahem also falls asleep holding her hand.
