CHAPTER 2

Now Kinjal had gone to her in-laws and if Dhawal was to be trusted, she will be going to Mumbai soon, away from all troubles in Rajkot. But he was troubled with what Gopi and Kinjal said. Gopi was sure that his Mani's love for her was more than his family's love for her. Kinjal wanted him to reflect on what he said. What did he say to Kinjal to get that response? He couldn't recollect it immediately. He couldn't think about that yet. He had to talk to Gopi. What did she mean by 'maybe'?

Ahem finds Gopi in his room packing her belongings to leave. At first he was exasperated, till now Kinjal was trying every trick to run away and now Gopi is packing her backs. He wondered what was happening with women in Modi house. Why were they all running? He sighed and entered the room and was observing Gopi, when he remembered why she was packing. He had totally forgotten about it, what with all that Kinjal was doing to keep everyone worried. Thank god she remembered. But first he has to know what she meant by her monosyllabic answer 'Maybe'. He can't just ignore a slight to his mother, however minor it might be.

By now Gopi had noticed Ahem and was standing like a statue with her back to Ahem and pallu drawn over her head.

Ahem – Gopi… what did you mean by 'Maybe' when u were talking about mom's love towards you?

Gopi – Ahemji… Is it necessary for you to know? I am anyways leaving and nothing matters now.

Ahem – But you insulted my mother's love.

Gopi – I didn't insult her love. If you really want to know then I'll tell you.

She took a deep breath before she continued

Gopi – Ahemji, you said Maaji loves me more than both you and Kinjal ben. But you were wrong there. Maaji loves you and Kinjal ben more than any person on this earth.

Ahem – Then why does she listen to you?

Gopi – That you'll have to ask Maaji only. I only know that for Maaji no one means more than her two children. Since you asked me to compare her love and I didn't want to, I just said maybe.

Ahem – how can you dismiss my mother's love for you so casually?

Gopi – I am not dismissing anyone Ahemji. I am merely stating facts. The love she shows me has its own reason. I don't feel it as selfless. And feelings don't work with logic Ahemji.

Gopi suddenly feels faint because of all the hard work she did for wedding since 3 days and all the worrying of the last few hours till Kinjal realized Umang's betrayal. Now she has to put a brave front to leave this house. Physical and psychological tensions of the last couple of days were too much for Gopi to cope with anymore. She was totally drained now.

Gopi – Ahemji, I don't see a point for this conversation. I am going out of your life as you wished. You also have said whole lot of things to me. Why does it matter if I don't believe in your mother's love for me? (Taking a deep breath as if she is talking to an irate child)I still have to take leave from the elders before I leave, I would just take my leave from you right now. I am grateful for everything you did for me and I promise not to bother you ever. Jai Shree Krishna Ahemji.

Ahem sees that Gopi had a small bag of her clothes that she brought with her. Ahem leaves the room to go to his room.

Gopi had already told her Mamaji and was waiting for him to call her. She didn't want to take anything else from this house; she had enough memories, to see her through this life time. She knew life won't be easy at her Mami's place. But where else can she go.

Ahem was in the guest room. He wanted to go his mom to get some things clarified. He wanted his Mom to answer the question that Gopi didn't. But how can he ask her anything without revealing Kinjal's latest escapade. He starts thinking hard and again comes to what Kinjal said. But this time he remembers the conversation as well. "If you would have told us, you wouldn't have been deceived like this but would have got a person who loved you", this was what he had said to his sister and Kinjal said that its same for him too. Ofcourse it's the same. Though he didn't get someone he loved and married his mom's choice, he got someone who loved him. But how can he love her. How will she fit with the people of his status? But then he remembered all the instances where Gopi did things with her memory which was always faultless. Can she be made to learn everything and adjust? On this thought sleep claims him and he is unaware when Gopi left in the middle of the night.

In the Shah house, Urmi doesn't let Gopi enter the house and throws her out. Now Gopi has nowhere to go. Kinjal sees the commotion and what happened from her window.

Kinjal – Dhawal, if I ask you for something, will you do that for me?

Dhawal – Kinjalji, please tell me what you want me to do?

Kinjal – It seems Gopi Bhabhi is in trouble. I want us to help her.

Dhawal – Phui will not be happy Kinjalji.

Kinjal is furious – Be a man Dhawalji. Can't you help someone on your own accord? What if tomorrow she tortures me, will you sit by and watch. If you are planning that tell me right away, I'll just leave you to your Phui.

Dhawal – Ok. Tell me what you have planned.

Kinjal – Get Gopi Bhabhi a place in a hotel for 2 days and get us tickets for Mumbai. We will leave for Mumbai with Gopi Bhabhi, with no one the wiser. We can see what to do from there on.

Dhawal – OK. But how will I find Gopi Ben.

Kinjal – you don't have to do much. I saw her going into the temple and she has yet to come out. I'll call you on your phone if I see her going somewhere from the temple.

Dhawal says OK and leaves, when Maami stops him

Maami – Dhawal dikhra, where are you going?

Dhawal – I don't have balance in my cell and I need to call my friend to see how the business is going. I'll just get the cell recharged and be back.

Maami – you can do it tomorrow as well

Dhawal – my friend might get bust tomorrow and may not have time to answer me properly Maami. I'll be back before you start missing me

Maami – Theek Che Dikhra

Dhawal finds Gopi and gets all the arrangements done for their departure for Mumbai the next day evening. He also buys a cell phone to help her be in contact with him and teaches her the basic functionality. They basically plan to leave Rajkot after Kinjal's Pagphera ceremony tomorrow.

Ahem wakes up next day and bellows for his green tea, which Mani gets for him. But he can't seem to get the taste. He literally goes ballistic over Mani.

Ahem – Is it the 1^st time you are making green tea, that you prepared this tasteless concoction. Till yesterday, it tasted fine and today its so disgusting. What is happening with the kitchen maids.

Mani (Aside) – you have kicked the person who took care of you, you numb skull. What do you want now? Why are you jumping like you are sitting on fire?

Ahem – WHAT???? Did you say something?

Mani – Ji Nahi Ahem Bhai. I was just thinking if I missed something in the Tea.

Ahem – Go make it again.

Mani – Tell me what is wrong with this one, so I can make it better.

Ahem – you were making it till yesterday, so what has changed today?

Mani – Today, Gopi Bhabhi is no longer here.

Ahem – So?

Mani – she was the one who cared for everything for everyone. I just used to deliver it. As far as I remember, this is how you used to drink it. Green Tea with one sugar

Ahem realized that Mani was right. This is how he used to drink it, Green Tea with one sugar, so what was the change. He couldn't tell Mani the difference and dismisses her. That day nothing that is cooked at the house is to his taste and not even a single person has a smile on their faces. He leaves for the office, to escape the mourning atmosphere of the house.

Kinjal arrives for her Pagphera ceremony that day, to take everyone's blessings. she insists on taking the rest of her stuff with her. She packs her things as well as few items for Gopi, before she leaves. Ahem comes for lunch, so he can meet Kinjal, but Dhawal and Kinjal don't tell anyone of their plans to return to Mumbai and neither do they tell anyone about Gopi going with them. That evening they pick Gopi from the hotel and go to Railway station to catch the train they had reserved berths in for Mumabi. Thus Gopi, Kinjal and Dhawal leave for Mumbai, with no one the wiser. Dhawal plans to inform Phui about him and Kinjal going to Mumbai after reaching there, so all her protestations could be for nothing.

Back at the Modi Mansion in the evening, Ahem is not liking the food served for dinner and complains to his Mom.

Ahem – Mom, why don't you cook the food, the food that is being made is so tasteless.

Koki – Why should I when we have servants. And I already got you married. So find your wife if you don't want to eat food cooked by servants.

Ahem is totally taken aback by Koki's answer.

Ahem is thinking about the few months that Gopi lived in Modi Mansion and feels that he treated her bit too harshly for something that wasn't even her fault. She had already told him what she thought the letter she got before marriage said and its barely her fault that she is illiterate. But he also remembers her sharp brain. He thinks Anita was never the right choice for me. She is competitive, with no sense of filial duty. It would be nice if Gopi could be educated. At this realization, he wants to go to Gopi's Mamaji's place to bring her back and decides on going the next day after office.

Wow! Love the story. Thank God Gopi can rest now. Go Aham Go! Grab your wife!!! Thx for the wonderful part!

That was great Diya. Ahem is going to be disappointed on not finding Gopi at Mama's place. Nice to see the Kinjal of ur FF as a positive one now. Please do update soon.
