Part 2:

Aham opened his eyes….he heard a noise. Who was up at this time of night? He then realized that he was still lying in his sherwani and had drifted off to sleep with Gopi's image in his mind. He rubbed his eyes and got up. He had to go see who was making that noise. Shaadi ka ghar hai..tha! What if some chor was in the house again.

He walked into the hallway and past Gopi's room. The door was open. He peeked in, the bed was still made. She wasn't there. Where on earth was Gopi…He didn't understand why he cared…actually he thought to himself I don't care!

He walked into her room and looked around there was no one there.

He heard the noise again, but before he turned around he saw an envelope on the bed.

Aham picked up the envelope and opened it. Inside he saw a Mangal Sutar. It was the same Mangal Sutar that he had tied on Gopi when he married her.

He thought to himself "Ab kya drama karh rahi hai?"

The noise again…what was that.

He left the room and walked downstairs. There he saw Gopi in a salwar kameez trying to open the front door. He thought to himself "itni rath koh voh kya kar rahi hai!"

"Gopi…..kya kar rahi hoa?"

Gopi turned around. It was night..everyone was supposed to be sleep. Who was that that had called her.

She slowly turned around and lifted her gaze. Ahamji.

"Aap…Aap thoa soh rahe thea…maphi chathee hoon..aap koa jagaya."

Aham spoked again…."Kya kar rahi hoa?" this time a little more angrily.

Gopi realized she had a lot of explaining to do …but then thought..how much really, I was supposed to leave anyways….

"dekhiya…vaadho kai ansar mujhe is ghar koa Kinjal Bhen ki shaadi ki baadh chorna hai….Ab Eleshji aur Kinjal ki shaadhi hoa chuki, sab galat phamiyan dhoor…ab mujhe apna vaadha nibhana chayeh…"

Aham closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Chup karo….joh man mein aatha hai vohi bol dheti hoa." Aham walked towards Gopi and for the first time noticed that she was a very simple girl…her hair was combed back and she was wearing a very simple suit.

"Thumarai kapron koa kya hua…?"

Gopi gulped before she answered him again…"Voh ….mera matlab hai…voh maine upar chor diye…voh toh takreiban sabh Maaji ka diya hua hai…"

"Mein sirf apne kaprai lekar jaa rahi hoon….kasam se"

Aham took a deep breath. Picked up her suitcase…."Kinjal aur Elesh kal ghar vapas aa rahe hain…maloom nahi lekin koi Modi rasmain hai joh shaadi ki baad bhi nibhathai hain"

Gopi looked up. She had been premature on her thoughts.

Aham, with suitcase in hand, walked to the staircase…Gopi quietly followed him.

Aham went into Gopi's room and placed the suitcases there.

Gopi followed him into the room, she was holding her a little bag that contained her parents nishaniyaan in one hand and a Kanhaji statue in the other.

Aham placed the suitcase on the floor. Turned to walk towards Gopi. He saw that her hands were full.

He reached into his pocked and took out the mangal sutar.

"Maa bhura mane gee agar tum iskai bina subha nazar aay."

He reached above Gopi's head and placed the mangal sutar on her again.

Gopi's hand tightened around the Kanha statue and she lowered her gaze.

With that Aham left the room. Gopi's gaze followed him as far as she could see him before he turned the corner and went into his room.

Gopi faintly smiled. She placed the Kanhaji in his usual spot. She put the bag in her other hand on the bed. Then she looked down touched her mangal sutar. She lifted her gaze and looked out the doorway and gave a faint, hopeful yet sad smile.

Preview:

Aham reasons with himself that he only stopped Gopi for his mother's sake…..and nothing else.
