here is the next part. Its a bit sad and a bit happy. But this had to be done in this chapter itself to get you to better chapters... hope you all like it

Chapter 6

Thus began the story of a girl, way more subdued than any human being and a boy, who had lost what he thought was his and has now turned very cynical towards life.

It is said that even the best of artists never make their creations perfect. The best example of this being God. He neither made man perfect, nor did he make women perfect. But he made them perfect together, they complement each other, so complete each other. And for that perfect combination, it's the hand of God one should trust. Ahem didn't understand yet that he needs to find that perfect partner and Anita was not the perfect one for him. He understands Anita's mercenary ways, but that understanding makes him immune to his surroundings and other people, who are in his life. Thus he struggles to find the perfect fit. He also had to learn to trust another human-being, even though his trust was broken once. He needs to understand that maybe it was God's wish that he didn't get what he wanted. God can never be wrong.. Only He, in true sense, does justice to the word Perfect.

Gopi's good behavior and keep-everyone-happy attitude won Ahem's heart very soon. Even though his first impression was not a good one, he slowly recognized and respected Gopi for her goodness. They were happy with each-other and loved each other. Though Ahem got to know about her illiteracy and was angry for quite a while, but he soon forgot his anger thinking of the circumstances Gopi grew up in.

Ahem – I never knew you couldn't read and write. I am sorry I was angry with you. It wasn't your fault. Would you please forgive me?

Gopi – Ahemji… you didn't say or do anything wrong. If truth is kept from anyone, its understood that they will be angry. But it wasn't my intention to keep anything from you. I didn't know that you were unaware. I know that maaji knows about it and thought that she might have already told you and you were not angry.

Ahem – Its not important anymore and since am not angry now, we should concentrate on the problem

Gopi – problem?

Ahem – your illiteracy. Its fine with me, if you want to stay home always, but that is not how I envision our future. You should be as educated as any other man, if not more.

Gopi – but, how will I go to school now. Everyone will make fun of me.

Ahem – Hmmm… There is that. But education is also important.

Gopi is very apprehensive as to what is going on in Ahem's mind and is holding her breath

Ahem – if we can't send you to school, we can bring the school to you.

Ahem started Gopi's home schooling and grooming, to make her into a self-reliant and self-confident person. During one such session Jigar walks in to the room hearing some voices and is stunned at what Ahem and Gopi are doing. Jigar offers to help his Bhai when he has other important work to do. Both the brothers lend immense support to Gopi in her learning spree.

Though she started a new life under her overprotective Mother-In-Law(MIL), now friendly husband and cozy family, she still had three, infact four nemesis, that would have to be defeated to make her life smooth.

Rashi wanted to have full control of Modi Mansion without exerting much effort. For this she had to show Gopi as an incompetent fool. Which she did very well with her tricks, abetted by the mother on every step. But these tricks failed to impress Koki, who gave the keys to Rashi, so as to say, now its your responsibility and no one can take the blame for you. You have to own up to others' mistakes as well to make sure family name is not tainted. Rashi's misdemeanor to Gopi and her ill-treatment of Gopi didn't stop even after getting the keys, as she didn't want to do honest work. She did a lot of mistakes and whenever Rashi used to do some mistake Gopi used to own up to it, as she thought she was indebted to her Mami for everything she did for her since her childhood. Though Koki knew who the real culprit was, she couldn't let Gopi Scot-free too, since she hated liars. Koki punished Gopi for all the mistakes Gopi owned up to in an emotional way. Even when Kinjal tried to get Rashi into trouble, Gopi used to take blame for Rashi's mistakes. Getting her more into trouble with her MIL who was despairing with her DIL, who was too good to be true.

Initially Kinjal was very sweet to Gopi and took her mostly everywhere she went, introducing her to her friends. On such a day of shopping excursion, Kinjal introduces Anita to Gopi and while Kinjal goes to get some drinks Anita who is still smarting from Modi family rejection tries to instigate her with fake smile plastered to her face

Anita – How is Ahem and everyone in modi Family?

Gopi – Ji… everyone is quite good.

Anita – Hope you are very comfortable in your sasural. I know its hard for anyone to leave the surroundings they know and in a marriage and that too arranged, bride is the one who leaves everything and comes to guys family.

Gopi – Jee… you are very nice… you care for me a lot… but my in-laws are also very nice to me, I never felt I was away from home.

Anita – that's nice to know… hope Ahem is quite loving and understanding towards you

Gopi (Blushing a pretty pink) – Jee… Ahemji bahut acche hai…

Anita – Do you know there was a women in his life just before he married you

Gopi (astonished) – Jeee… what are you trying to say?

Anita – ohhh you didn't know?? I am so sorry to distress you like this… lets not talk about it… might be that girl is no longer in his life… I don't believe Ahem is a kind of guy who goes behind anyones back… don't worry about it…

Anita was happy to plant the seed in Gopi's mind and excuses herself on the pretext of finding Kinjal, who had left them both alone on purpose. Anita leaves Gopi at the table.

Anita – Kinjal, now you can join us. Your bhabhi now knows the thing that we wanted to tell her.

Kinjal – did you also tell your name?

Anita - no silly. You go join her. I'll come along. Try to make her see that you too know. Even if she confronts Ahem, he'll just shout at her, confirming our news. And looking at her it doesn't seem she has the blunt needed to go against Ahem or even discuss things with him

Kinjal(smirking) – okk Anita. See you at the table.

When all three join again Kinjal signs to Anita saying I did as you asked. After that they have their snack and leave for their respective home.

As predicted by Anita, Ahem was very disturbed when Gopi brought his Girl-Friend's topic into a discussion. He just bursts on her and doesn't even ask who told her that and what all they told her. He simply says "don't ever bring this up again, if you want peace in our marriage"

Though it was not obvious, but from that day on, there was always a tension in the air and Gopi stopped feeling comfortable with Ahem and stopped sharing her thoughts and distresses with him. Ahem recognized this but ignored it thinking she will come around to the way of her thinking. But Gopi was quite afraid now and didn't want to share anything with Ahem without knowing what that topics effect would be on him. And, unless you discuss a topic, you won't know the effect, so the conversation between Gopi-Ahem stopped, making way for misunderstandings.

This was the opportunity Kinjal was waiting for, when one of Gopi's ally would not-be so on her side, because of miscommunication. Kinjal started to throw accusations one after the other on Gopi. She was accused of stealing by Kinjal, when Kinjal herself was the thief. Unable to explain herself, Gopi relies on the unwavering trust of her MIL. Gopi ignores this incident as a misinformation. Kinjal then tries to see her boyfriend at her own home and when found out accuses Gopi that it was Gopi the guy was searching for. Gopi was totally stoned and couldn't utter a word. Now this was a grave thing in the eyes of Ahem and rocked the married bliss of her life to a total standstill. Now Ahem stopped believing Gopi and insulted her at every turn. Once bitten twice shy.

In about a week it was Dusshera and just before nine day Navratri celebrations, Kinjal once again met with her boyfriend and planned to bring down Gopi totally. Just before Dusshera, Rashi lied and forgot to fulfill her duties, but the blame was taken by Gopi, who was barred from Dusshera celebrations completely. She was to be treated as a non-existent entity.

On the day of moorti sthapana Chirag, Parag, Jigar and Ahem went to bring the Goddess home, leaving the women folk to get everything ready to invite the Goddess home. On this day when everyone was downstairs, someone is climbing the wall to Gopi's room and drops in through her room's window. This is witnessed by none-other than Ahem. The climb was well timed by the guy to get the blame on Gopi for the whole escapade.

After having welcomed Goddess to their house and doing the proper ceremonies, ahem leaves to check on Gopi in her room. He doesn't know what he wants. Does he want confirmation of Gopi's treachery or does he want her to be clean of all the blame. He couldn't believe that a person who took care of everyone, was such a treacherous person. But he was sure that would be revealed very soon, as soon as he goes to Gopi's room

Meanwhile, Gopi is fighting the Guy who entered her room, but the guy makes her unconscious and tries to force himself on her… by the time she slowly starts gaining her conscious and realizes what is happening, as the luck would have it Ahem witnesses this scene. He sees red. He lifts the guy off Gopi by the shirt and demands who he is what he is doing here. He says why are you asking me? Ask her. She knows me well, or should I rather say too well. The guy has a dirty smile on his face. When Ahem asks her, she is scared of what she should say so as not to make Ahem more angry and thus takes too long to answer and by the time she tries opening her mouth, Ahem had her drawn, quartered and condemned.

Ahem takes her silence as her guilty conscience and not as her shock at being subjected to an assault and being almost raped. He just throws her out of the house. He doesn't listen to anyone. Rashi is happy that Gopi is leaving and thanks her stars that she didn't even had to do anything. Kinjal is smiling evilly, as if to say, now you know what happens to someone whom I don't like. None of the others were happy that Ahem is throwing Gopi out of the house. But, when Ahem told them the reason, everyone had disbelief written on their face, but couldn't do anything when Gopi was silent even when accused of such a grave thing. Her silence became her worst enemy. Ahem shut the door on her face.

Everyone except for Rashi and Kinjal, tried to make Ahem see reason and to make him understand that Gopi cannot do anything of this kind ever. But Ahem is not ready to listen atall. He had full conviction now that Gopi was as bad as Anita and he asks everyone to stop siding with Gopi and start seeing her real face.

Ahem - If she was so innocent, why didn't she speak up? I didn't condemn her without asking for an explanation.

Koki – But Dikhra, she might have been hurt or scared.

Ahem – What did she have to be scared of when I was there? She looked more guilty than scared.

Saying this Ahem makes way to his room. There was no arguing with the stubborn stance Ahem had adopted. When Ahem went in they opened the door to see if they could find Gopi anywhere to hear her side of the story. But could find her nowhere near the house. Chirag, Parag and Jigar went in search of her but couldn't find her anywhere near and came back home in the morning after searching all over the town and exhausting all possibilities of where she could go within town.

Next day Chirag and Parag are in the study and are discussing the turn of events in their house.

Chirag – I don't believe Gopi Dikhra will do anything to tarnish our reputation

Parag – you are right Mota Bhai. I too don't believe this.

Chirag - Something not so good is happening in our house and we really need to get to the bottom of this.

Parag – Jee Mota Bhai. But we have to search for Gopi vahu first.

Chirag – you are right. But first we have to know where all she can go.

Parag – she is very close to Koki, Mota Bhabhi and Baa. Lets go ask them.

The same was the vien of conversation between Baa, hetal and Koki in Baa's room.

As per Gopi she was shocked that Ahem didn't even trust her to give her enough time to speak up. She felt she was cheated in her love for this man. She trusted him with her love and her vulnerability, but Ahem never trusted her. This was going on round and round in her mind while she had the flashbacks where Ahem was very tender with her and how he used to love her and listen to her… even though she used to speak to him in her halting manner, which others thought was very irritating.

Now she had lost everything that she ever thought was hers and starts walking aimlessly on the roads. All she had with her were her clothes on her back and a few ornaments she was wearing and the love she still felt for Ahem. She wonders why is that so.

Precap - Where is Gopi heading? What is written in her destiny? Is it always trials and tribulations? What is Kinjal's vendetta against Gopi? Who is the guy, who broke into Gopi's room? is he the guy who was Kinjal's boyfriend? Will Ahem ever get to know about all the schemings against Gopi? If he does, would it be too late to turn back time?
