And it's a lot more complex than "Ahem does mean things = Ahem is a bad person". A lot of Aham's actions are due to misunderstandings created by other members of the family, namely his stupid sister Kinjal. And as for why Gopi would still want him, it's in the nature of her character that she shows devotion to her husband through all the good and bad times. It's why her name is 'Gopi' - because she is a true devotee.

I'm sure it will happen. It's a soap after all. In my opinion, he's got some MAJOR groveling to do before she takes him back. We're talking begging and pleading. On his knees with the floor covered in glass.

If true devotees are doormats, then she deserves what she gets. She is supposed to take all of his crap because she's 'devoted' to him? Utter nonsense. My hubby has his flaws, and I deal with those, but if he were to EVER treat me in the manner that Aham treats Gopi, I'd be out the door. Aham treats her like this because she lets him. If she had any kind of a backbone, she'd tell him to knock it off. He may gain a bit of respect for her. One of the only good scenes we have had was when he offered to help her with the ointment. That was only after she proved she had some guts in dealing with the thief.

I'm just so tired of all of this...

I think where the grovelling will come in is when Gopi begins to resist him (we had a taste of this during the chor incident) once he realizes his mistakes and decideds he's ready to accept her.

I agree it's nonsense, because we live in a modern time. I would NEVER allow my husband to even think about treating me the way Aham does to Gopi, but we have to accept her character for what she is. They have named her "Gopi" for a reason. Her name means someone who is devoted to Him no matter what. That is why vraths, pratnaa etc are so central to her character and define what happens to her.

As for Gopi having guts...well she doesn't! Remember the start of the serial, when people would taunt her about her illiteracy? Her mama would always say, "Gopi, why don't you speak up for yourself?" and she would respond that she doesn't know how to. It's because of her upbringing. That's where Kokila comes in. Koki will show Gopi how to change.

maybe the trauma caused to his brain by being thrown off a cliff will alter the chemical structure of his cerebellum.

We can go the ramkatha of gopi taking care of him...and then the chemical structure of his cerebellum changing. 😆
