Sharad Kelkar, famous for being Nahar on Saat Phere, turns 32 today. We asked the star what he had planned for the big day. "No special plans as I'll be shooting till 8 pm," he said, "because of the strike there's a lot of work pressure." He was referring to the strike in the industry last week by the junior workers for better pay.
"But after I'm back home I plan to have a small party with family and friends" he added.
Sharad says he doesn't expect any surprises as wife Kirti already gifted him something very precious last night. "Kirti made an album herself where she collected my childhood snaps from when I was a year old till now with all my friends - so sweet of her!" says the delighted husband touched by his wife's gesture.
Born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Sharad did his schooling from Gorkhi Secondary High School. He completed his bachelors in Physical Education from Lakshmi Bai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIP) Gwalior followed by his MBA from Prestige Institute of Management Studies. He started his career as a gym instructor at Madhavrao Scindia's club in Gwalior.
Sharad got an opportunity to visit Mumbai on a seven days tour. In Mumbai, he participated in the Grasim Mr India 2002 Contest and made his entry in television. Soon after he shifted from Gwalior to his city of dreams, Mumbai.
This young and handsome Maharashtrian boy from Gwalior started his acting career with a television serial 'Aakrosh' on Doordarshan, where he met his lady love Kirti Gaikwad and eventually married her in June, 2005. Sharad got his big break in shows like 'Sindoor Tere Naam Ka', where he was offered the role of 'Rudra Raizada' and role of 'Nahar' in 'Saat Phere', both on Zee TV.
His character 'Nahar' in 'Saat Phere' made him very popular. He then participated in Nach Baliye 2 with his Baliye, Kirti where the duo were given the title of 'The cutest couple'. Sharad made his debut as a stage anchor when he hosted 'Rock N Rock Family' along with former Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 contestant, Mauli Dave. Apart from these, he also acted in a Marathi Film 'Uttarayan'(2005) and was seen in several other TV soaps like Bhabhi, CID Special Bureau, Koi Dil Mein Hai etc.
Asked what the future held in store, Sharad said he didn't believe in tarot reading: "I wish to live in the future and not dream."
