Why this special attention for RDB and Kishore??? They are trying to find new kishore from the reality shows... This is in a way popularizing the songs of Kishore too... Why no effort for others??

well Asha and O.P. had a falling out and split ways...so i guess maybe thats why...but its just that the RDB and Kishore combo created alot of good songs...that many people remember...we all know that alot of the younger generation only goes as far back as around the 70's maybe 60's at most...and during the 70's they came out with sooo many hit songs...songs in sholay...Anamika....Namak Haram...Amar Prem...so they are still remembered...and Asha had a combo with Kishore ji also...they sang many songs together....ad if you look at the awards won by Kishore ji...it was mostly late 60's (69) to mid 80's (85)....so fairly recent....and those are the songs that first come to mind....roop tera mastana....khaike paan banaraswala....pag ghungroo baandh.....mere sapno ki rani....so we all know those songs....and they were all RD-Kishore combos........while Rafi basically won awards during the 60's and was the top singer during the 50's and 60's....so basically the fact that Kishore and RD were more recent and were featured in more recent films means that more people in this generation have heard them and seen movies featuring their songs....not many kids watch movies from the 50's or even 60's....most people remember the 70's and 80's...which were the years of Kishore and RD.....but in the music industry...everyone respects the greats and no one needs to compare them because they all were great...

well said 👏

all of the great legends have admirers. It's just that the KK and RDB admirers do more things publicly to show their admiration to the two while, for some reason, the others fail to do so. If someone did a show or film or whatever to pay tribute to others like Rafi then maybe there would be an equal hype around him as around KK.

You got me wrong!!

Im the first person who will oppose for remixes... Im giving it as an example to point out that efforts were made to popularize his songs in some way or the other even if it was in the name of remix, while no efforts were taken for others..

the importance got RD-kk springs from the fact that they are the sole cross-over specialists of popular music...meaning they brought westernization of music with desi touch... the ruling 70's i would say.. the rest are either older and not so familiar sounds... for e.g the songs of kati patang got high level of popularity so did mere jeevan saathi... before RD nobody really experimented with "true" western influence.. though SD, SJ, OPN have tried some at some point of time..

But this cross-over popularity is what deifies these guys...

" RD as a composer was OK". Bhaskar - 😡

😆

Bade Bhaiya aapka hi intzaar thha. Chalo atleast this topic got you back here. Thanks a lot Anu!!!! 😃

Actually that "Just" OK is telling all.😉😆 Don't get me wrong Bhaiyaji. I am a big time fan of RDB and Kishore. Woh to pata hi hoga. But yes when it comes to creativity I would still say SDB Salilda C Ramchandra Madan Mohan, they were maybe better.

&Shehzadi - What you are saying about SDB is true but that is true only for the late era. Not early ones. To say SDB never made any masti scores is wrong. Go to the B&W era songs of his. Listen to the songs of Baazi by Geeta Dutt and many more such scores. Don't expect those to have been composed by RDB.😆

Right!!! This was also the era when public was getting into the western music too and so these songs got connected to the mass more.

not really - infact all of them were type-cast..with predictable type of songs...all of them were good.. but they might have lacked what rdb acquired - the versatility.... MD's like SDB experimented.. a lot... so sounded different.. listen to SDB's gambler song "Dil aaj shayar" thats one song where 1'st 2nd verse has a different tune...tells a lot about creativity.. Listen to RD's Kya jaanu sajan from Raaz..dum maro dum in HRHK, piya tu...tells a lot about his open-minded..approach to music of course he was mentored by SDB...- he had certain plus over many other music directors who couldnt withstand him +KK once they took off.. Even Rafi had hard time surviving... that combination.

I wouldnt say that Rafi sahib had a hard time surviving...with his old age and illnesses yes he wasn't churning out as many hits or gettin as many awards...but with songs like kya hua tera wada (77)....play back in amar akbar anthony song perdha hai perdha (77)....Sargam (79)....and Karz (80)..he didn't just dissapear....his presence just wasn't as huge as it was during the 50's and 60's.... Kishore was combining with RD and was winning more awards....no1 last too long in the industry....to become king...you have to remove someone....so everyones turn comes.... Asha and Lata will one day retire...den it will be sunidhi... alka....shreya...or some other newcomer competing....nd in the male category...we have udit ji...sonu...shaan...so i mean when they grow old they will become legends also...and someone will take their place...so its a cycle....those who become legends get immortalized...just the fact that we are having this debate about Rafi...Kishore...Mukesh...RDB....SDB...O.P...proves that they are legends...they haven't been forgotten....
