We have just finished celebrating the festival of color. But a celebration like Holi cannot be complete without music. So this week we decided to keep the spirit of Holi going and have dedicated this week's Retro Cafe show to the fusion of "Saat Sur and Saat Rang". The theme for this week is .....

Music, colors and life - they share a very special bond and play a very integral part of a persons life. Rainbow is not complete without the seven "Colors" and Sargam is not complete without the seven "Swars" or musical notes. And our life is just unimaginable without colors or melody. Each moment of our life reflects the mood we are in and each mood is represented by a color and for every mood, there is a song. When we are happy, the mood is vibrant with joy and happiness and our life seems melodious and as colourful as the spectacular rainbow. But when the dark clouds of misery strike our horizon, not only the spectrum gets distorted but so does the sweet melody .
Did you know each swar of the sargam is linked to a color? Yes the seven swars Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni - each note has a representative color. "Sa", is pink; "Re" is green, "Ga" is golden color; "Ma" is pure White, "Pa" is black, the yellow makes an appearance with "Dha". "Ni", brings together all the colours - a mixed palette of every colour, joining together the previous scale and the next. It is like the rainbow, because no colour can be enjoyed in isolation.

Bollywood has many beautiful and popular songs dedicated to colors and to the celebration of Holi. This week in Satrangi Sargam we will listen to some of those nostalgic songs without which our celebration of Holi just cannot be complete and also we shall hear of those songs dedicated to the seven notes of Indian music that creates the melodies
