When there was a poll on seven wonders of modern world, people from India or Indian origin voted day and night and made Taj Mahal one among the seven wonders of the world. How many of them voting in that poll saw let alone other wonders even Taj Mahal in person?? Very few I am sure. This was also regional voting.
When BBC announced a poll for the best actor in the millenium Amitabh Bachchan won the poll. Indians all around the world voted for him. If an actor lets say from a country like Ukraine or Venzeuela was there who was much more talened than Mr. Amitabh had no chance of winning as how many from that country had internet access and knew about t his poll. This was also regional voting.
When we take advantage of regional voting then we are bound to have its disadvantages too. Even if Raja had won the contest some people would have said that Rajasthan has voted so he won.
I guess only time will tell who is the real winner. Who can survive in this industry, who can make a name here.
Regional voting is like nuclear technology. You can make good use of it or you can even make a bomb to destroy the planet.
