And so the 'Number 1 TRP show' comes to an end, and so do the cheerleading duties of the highest paid mentor on the show. And what an association it was. Himesh gave SRGMP what it wanted, and SRGMP gave Himesh what he wanted - 14 crores, and the title of winning mentor.
Now is probably a good time to analyze the influence that Himesh had on the show. From day 1, he seemed to be running the show. He dictated the flow of the show, commanded the most mic time, made the rules, broke them, and ensured that he would rule the stage. He desired and got the contestant he wanted (Aneek), and he demanded that precious show time be used for the purpose of furthering his emotional games.
Of course, he met with speedbumps along the way. Vishal was not one to sit down quietly and see Himesh run the game. Also, while HR could control how much TV time Aneek got, he could not control how other contestants sang. While he could praise Aneek to the skies, he could not prevent other contestants from overshadowing Aneek on many days by virtue of superior performances. He could force guests to dance to Aneek's songs, but he couldn't control the guests when they spontaneously rose to dance for Raja's song. He could manufacture a love story between Aneek and Dia, but he couldn't stop Dia from expressing her honest feelings after hearing Amanat's song. So by the time the final arrived, all his plans seemed to be falling apart. But Himesh had already lost in C2005, and couldn't bear the hurt another loss would do to his ego. He knew that he still held the trump card - considerable influence in SRGMP's back office.
And so D-day arrived. It was a great final. Great stage, thousands of people, some great performances. A finale sponsored by Himesh's best friend, Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, with the presence of stars like Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. The SRGMP creatives couldn't have hoped for a better show. The entire series had been a success. And Himesh had a big hand to play in the success.
SRGMP had won the TRP and money wars. But the deal wouldn't be complete unless the mentor also got what he wanted. As it turned out, when the envelope was opened, it was a happy ending for Himesh too. And so they all lived happily ever after.
What a perfect story - almost as if it were pre-written. đł
