And there we go - back at square one again. How many times have we heard the sayings - Truth always prevails, Jhoot ki umr choti hoti hai, Moderation is success, Avoid excess, etc. Just like always, HR has played the love card once too often.
When people sit down to vote for next week's final winner, this week's final performances will be the one that remain etched in memory. Amanat's Tujhse naraz, Raja's Sapne me milti hai, and Aneek's drab love dedication (I con't even remember the name now). And the winner will be decided on the basis of the songs they sung and the applause they got, not who they loved and how much.
If Himesh thought Dia Mirza was his trump card, she foiled his plans by rightly asking people to honestly vote for Amanat. If he felt people's hearts would be touched by Aneek's love ballad, he probably didn't account for the people who broke into a jig at Raja's rocking number or cried deeply at Amanat's soul-touching rendition. You only have to look at people's reactions during and after each of the contestants' songs to judge the impact of the songs. Aneek's song? The only thing I remember is a couple of bored people twirling their lips.
Why, Himesh? Why did you have to pick a virtually unknown song for Aneek at this critical juncture? Only because it belonged to an equally unknown actress who Aneek was supposed to show love for? Not only was the song obscure, it wasn't a great song - period. Sandwiched between Raja and Amanat's popular, lovely numbers, this was a damp squib.
This may well be the difference between Aneek winning and losing this contest. Come to think of it, after all the past weeks of torturous references about love and lovers, it would be rightful justice.
Yes, I feel bad for Aneek, but he should know better than to play the game his guru plays.
