Ismail sings
Ismail Darbar is all set to make his debut as a singer, courtesy Himesh Reshammiya. Sounding upbeat about it Ismail says, "In this cut-throat and competitive film industry Himesh Reshammiya has encouraged me to cut an album where I have not only scored the music but also sung the songs. Out of the 10 numbers, I have already finished recording three songs for it." Ismail Darbar & Himesh Reshammiya
Ismail said that it was Himesh who had introduced him to Bhushan Kumar of T-Series and helped him crack a deal with the music company. "Himesh told me that Bhushan had loved the music that I scored for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas and he'd willingly support my endeavours as a music director and singer."
Ismail said that he had a tough time putting his vocal chords to test initially. "I come from a family that has been well-versed in the art of music. But none of them have been into singing. I am the first one from the Darbar family to try my hand at it and it is turning out to be a pleasant experience for me."
Ismail further said that had he given in to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's demand during the making of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam he would have made his debut as a singer long ago. "Sanjay wanted me to sing the 'Luut gaye, haan luut gaye…' number picturised on Salman Khan. But I refused! I told him that only a professional singer could do justice to it. Of course now since I have got into singing, I will definitely sing not only for Sanjay but any filmmaker who makes an offer."
