Classical and Ghazal themes???

I seriously think it is time for a Ghazal/nazm theme and a Classical/semi-classical theme for the contestants. That would be a true testing for these contestants. I think all these themes like Shaadi etc are all too superficial and easy to get away with. They can keep the classical/ghazal themes for any two Fridays and on following Saturday they can keep any peppy theme so that the celebrity guests do not get bored.

I would especially like to see how Aneek sings a ghazal and Sumedha sings a classical song.

I know Amanat for sure would ace it!

But somehow I feel the standard of SRGMP is going down because of TRP concerns. In yesteryears, there were more singers on SRGMP who had a strong classical base. But if u see now, for ex C2007, there were so many singers in the pre-finals(before the agnipariksha) who were simply not upto the mark and sounded besura in several performances. I mean earlier, such singers wdnt hv dared to even come for the auditions.
I don't want to hurt Mauli fans more but can't stop myself from telling tht if it wd hv been like the yesteryears, a singer like Mauli wdn't hv been through to the final 12/14.

Atleast at this point of time, or may be after the top 3 remain, they can surely do one ghazal and one classical round to gauge the depth of contestants' skills.

I agree.. its high time for some serious music!!! These are top 5.. they need to show thier mettle in semi classical Ghazal genres

gotta keep in mind - that in those days u had srgmp only. now u have svoi and ii and all the love affairs to make it exciting.

Yeah,no point in crying for the old days.These people have become sooo hungry for trps that talent doesn't really matter anymore.

who will stand in that programe except Amanat and how HR or VS use big mouth for aneek and raja.
