Behind the scene work of VS

Let's give Saregamapa a break and Raja Hasan's mentors a bit of space on this blog.

Vishal-Shekhar had been one of most prolific jingle composers in town, before they struck it big as music directors in movies. That's perhaps why their music is often compared to jingles by music critics. But the duo still keep composing jingles. An estimate puts the number of jingles composed by the two around 1000!

Here, we feature some of their compositions from the advertising world - these include the Riya Sen Limca ad, the Bubbly Grind for Pepsi, Shahrukh's Sunfeast ad in Marathi, the Zayed-Khan Mirinda ad, Vivek Oberoi Vanilla Coke ad and Akshay Kumar Thums Up ad.

However, I couldn't find a video of their best jingle composition yet - it was Maruti Alto's "Nakhre dikhaati boondein"

I had no idea they were into jingle making! Those were like hella popular ads some of them! VS seem to be everywhere in the world of music! SRGMP is really lucky to have such awesome mentors! Apart from being so good at their work they are also the only sane mentors on the show. Always honest with their feedback and pretty much never biased. 👏👏 Wish them lots of luck for the future and hope they will be back on the show next year as well. They bring class to SRGMP!

Anyways, the original Oye Bubbly was created by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. They also have done ads like Cadbury Perk, Ford Fiesta (Go fida), Kya aap closeup karte hain.

A.R.Rehman created the Airtel tune. He has more than 300 jingles in his kitty.

SEL and Shekhar both worked for Mukul Anand who created a number of ads including a very popular Pepsi ad involving Akshay Kumar. It was during this ad, that SEL got their first break - Dus in 1997. The movie was never made. Shekhar too worked on the project. (Remember Raja sang the song Mahiya from this movie).

Shekhar worked on a lot of jungles for Raj Kaushal, the husband of Mandira Bedi. Kaushal gave Vishal-Shekhar their first movie break with Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi in 1999.
