Neel gagan ke talle, dharti ka pyar palle
aise hi jag main, aati hain subahae
aisse hi shaam dhalle
aoor
mud mud ke na dekh mud mud ke😛 Change of track is amazing in this song...
All these songs as mentioned are really wonderful. Hope Zee at times do themes on past singers round and let new comers select as per their style.
This way our old gems will also be remembered.

Yes Trishanku, I just checked my post again and some how the line got deleted ..where I said singers like MK,Hemant and MD (Mahender kapoor , Hemant Da & Manna Dey) have given some songs that can challenge these singers. Not only them Suresh Wadeker has sung amazing songs too.

Now I can also add that

not only singers round but instead of actor round ( like Raj kapoor ) Zee can also do MD rounds...check out songs of Chitragupt , Khayyam, Naushad...plenty of music that can inspire these young kids to do much better then what they do today. A real talent will come out.

Salil has put a good thought which hopefully Zee can apply some time

BTW Thanks Trishanku (Your name is Reminding me of the story of Trishunku maharaj 😃)😉

Thats a good idea too.Especially i would luv to see a round of Naushaad or Khayyam. The ones doing full justice to those songs can easily be declared as the best talented ones. Chitragupt or Madan Mohan or CRamchandra songs, well lets giv them some relief Sunny.😆 i very much doubt about these younger ones rendering those perfectly.

While I love the thought of them singing a round of this yesteryear greats, these songs and singers are close to my heart

my question is what is the point? Those kind of songs are not coming back, look at songs today, how many %ile of songs are of the type of a typical Mannadey song?

The songs of yesteryears required a lot of maintainence of Sur Taal(especially Mannada songs), waise to these mentors have no interest in talking about how much of slippage occurred

and add to that a maintainence of emotions with the lyrics

The esteemed judges/mentors are giving these contestants a pass for forgetting lyrics, if you forget lyrics you dont get the emotion of those songs

I was so frustrated with the comedy round, the singers wanted so much to emote with their faces and actions, rather than by their voices and the mentors did not give a crap about it

so it is clear from what we have seen in C2007, they dont care about Sur/Taal/Emotion(anyway the industry too doesnt care about it much), then why waste my and your time singing songs that are strong on that?

True Sareg. And ofcourse Zee is marketing just like HR, targeting younger generation. But there has to be a start. May be as parent we need to educate our kids on SUr and taal.May be we need to sow the seeds we wish to see in the future. If we all do our part, things can happen.
Barnali, right they may not have heard them but I am sure they must have heard their songs once in a while and admired them.

Mds today and channels , they go for instant fame and money . to them Sur/taal is extra baggage and why carry it if they see sucess just by limited baggage.

If Zee ever plans to continue its market in its all audience then they should consider to show the glory of our past. Even in present we have some great songs (Water was just amazing)and there will be wonderful songs.

Meena dear, check out the songs by them and you will like them. 😛

Great post.. 👏
Manna Dey was the best when it came to classical singing in the film industry..
Out of these contestants, I feel Aneek and Amanat can somewhat carry most of his songs well, but still don't think they can reach his level of perfection especially when it comes to songs like 'Phul gendwa na maro', 'Cham Cham baje re payalia', 'Lapak Jhapak', 'Re man sur me ga', 'Sur na saje', 'Pucho na kaise', 'Aayo kahan se ghanshyam' 'Laga chunri', 'Kaun aaya'...

His voice had the murkiyan and smoothness both which usually is rare to find together. For ex. Mussarat has murkiyaan in his voice but the smooth flow is lacking, Aneek has the smoothness but the murkiyaan necessary for classical songs is not there.

Lapak Zhapak a typical Manna Dey song

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ja3XCe4e2gc

According to Manna Dey following was one of the toughest songs he has ever sung in films

http://youtube.com/watch?v=5GzXaGKM3rw

and now we cant say SRGMP contestants cannot make a effort when previous SRGMP contestants made that effort
