Hello friends & dear music lovers

I landed in this forum when i chanced to see some good topics related to music, musicians past & present, latest happenings, informative & knowledgable articles & anecdotes concerning some great legends of music, & the music scenario, its growth, current happenings, briefly a virtual treasure trove of delight for an avid music enthusiast.

These nuggets, to great extent helped many amateurs & novices like me in the field of music to understand the complexities, the intricacies & the intrigues of music & musical instruments and learn about its various genres like folk, classical, ghazal, Qawwali etc etc.

Apart from the above what i discovered initially was a healthy & friendly discussion forum about a musical journey called SRGMP which we all hold dear to our heart with a bit of witty humour of funny topics thrown in between and a magical world which i thought was a second family. We could find, thought provoking posts, good analytical topics regarding the performances of the contestants by renowned and totally unbiased experts, not to mention a virtual database of information about the amazingly talented singers whom we have come to know very closely.

But off late this forum has undergone a huge transformation, turning into a virtual battleground between stubborn fanatical fans of the contestants and their
derisive haters who don't look beyond retribution for some mishappening which they have no control over, like the exit of their favorites from the contest as the competition gets hotter day by day. Any reasonable or even constructive criticism of their beloved ones has become unacceptable & the critique is attacked from all sides citing some illogical thories, conspiracies with highly irrational & juvenile comments resulting with ugly fights with either side unrelenting in their tirade against each other.

So i feel music is the ultimate loser here, hence i sincerely urge all my fellow members to look beyond favouritism & adopt a fair minded approach while judging the contestants, their character & their performances casting off your personal biases & prejudices of all nature which normally cloud one's judgement. If music has no boundaries why should we true music lovers have?

Thank you for sparing your valuable time in going through my boring lecture. Kaafi lamba chaura bhaashan dediya lagta hain😆😆😆

Good post, Trishanku3 👏 I agree with what you have stated...music indeed has no boundaries, but unfortunately we music lovers tend to with favoritism and biases and even nationality..its really a pity..

Whatever the base of the show SRGMP might be as far as Zee is concerned, be it a TRP game or an almost-soap-opera-reality show, we the SRGMP forum family could enjoy the wonderfully talented singers' performances with healthy discussions abt their performances with all the intricate details from musical experts here in the forum..constructive criticism and debates are also most welcome, which wud add some spice to the discussions and also educate the less informed some more about music..

Unfortunately, lately it has just been a baseless fight to protect their favorite ones involving personal attacks on the contestants and sometimes even the members..

Now that we have reached a very crucial point in this contest, with 5 extremely talented singers in different respects existing in this musical battle, I am really looking forward to more exciting, enthusiastic and unbiased (that applies to me also 😛 ) discussions related to their performances..

Dhruvie
PS : It did'nt feel like a lamba chaura bhaashan at all to me, Trishanku..thanks for the post, it was well said and much needed.. 😊

trishanku,

i understand where you are coming from. during the show, it often looks this way and i am glad it is wisely and proactively MONITORED to make it easier on us members.
Though wrong, expression of strong emotions / outburst at times has to do with posters being FANS (the word fan finds its origin in FANATIC.. 😳 )
I am sure many of us could tone down and in fact, help the DT, but the MUSIC INFORMATION MANSION that this forum becomes is only when show is off-air 😳 ..
i am fine with a bit of bias, a bit of competetion and a bit of fanaticism as long as we are CIVIL here.. 😳 Just my opinion!!

Once again, great post Trishanku and I agree about discipline and love of MUSIC above all.... but this show is almost toward its pinnacle and competetion is strong!

Even though the articles were posted, it went off unnoticed.. The forum is moving in such a speed that those topics are going behind to pages within seconds and getting lost in the mid of the crowd 😕

One way to help it out is, once someone starts a post, they inform anyother member interested in that post, and it gets spread and we start discussing..

People are so charged to promote the singers they like that the filters in the brain stop functioning to screen there emotions.Everyone wants to prove a point and project only there point of view.
The quality of the judges has come down as they talk anything and everything except music related stuff.
Yeda Raja Tada Praja. If they start setting a good example then at least we can hope things will fall in place.
In srgmp 2005 a lot more constructive analysis and discussions was there.I guess lot of them left.
All set and done some humour and fun along with good music is so gratifying.

I think it's a signature of public voting. Also many young viewers are the true voters and not all but many are passionate about their favourites which are sometimes very biased.

I agree with you. Wish people would focus on the singing and discuss their true abilities and not become fanatic about their contestants which are a lot of times based on regionalism and religion. It's unfortunate but true.

I have come to look on this show as not necessarily a talent contest but a voting contest. Primarily which contestant is able to attract enough viewers to obsessively vote for them to win this contest. I would say apart from other reality shows SRGMP has been good enough to really pick good singers and at the end even if the winner is not one's favourite, they will be reasonably quite talented.

Hopefully, Music lovers will refrain from bashing and hating and will find a way to present their views based on the quality of singng of the contestants.

Very nice post....Trishanku!!
Chalo to begin with you intiated a very thought proving post...... 😊
The undercurrents are certainly very high here.
Having your own favorites is not the problem.....that as Jadooji pointed out is human nature.
But striking that oh-so-difficult-balance is the hard part......
😊

Thanks for nice post!
Ab chalo lets defend/bash/fight....and if that is not enough call names...... 😆
