Hi...this is anita.
We went to see the Simply Sonu show in Dallas on Sunday 2nd Sept.....I thought of writing a little review for my forum friends.
The show started 2 hours late as is expected of any desi show ,so nothing new here but the wait was worth it.
The show was hosted by a TV star Manasi Verma ...the first few songs were sung by a new singer called Gunjan(she has sung in the movie Bend it like Beckham)...she was really good and beautiful.
Finally it was time for Sonu to come out ....he sang the lines of a shlok from behind the stage..then he sang the song...kal ho na ho.
He was wearing a black vest..a golden jacket. He started by greeting everyone and apologising for the delay in the start of the show..he sang some of his hit songs like(not necessarily in that order..
-suraj hua madhyam
-kal ho na ho
-satrangi re
-just chill
-main hoon na
-saturday night
-bijuria
-mere haath mein
-sandese aate hai
-saathiya
-mera rang de basanti
-ye dil deewana
<> -Achha sila diya
-tera jadoo chal gaya
-tumse milke dil ka jo haal
-piyu bole
-kabhi alvida na kehna
-chanda ki doli
Maybe i am forgetting some songs...sorry about that.
He also sang a few lines of some of Mohd Rafi's songs too and told us that Rafi sahib has always been and will always be his idol.
Sonu nigam is a great performfer on the stage...considering that there were no other major stars...he kept us glued to our seats for more than three hours....his dad Agam kumar also sang three old songs for us.......and who needs a comedian when sonu is on stage....the whole time in between the songs he kept us in peals of laughter....he told us a story of how he used to get the rona dhona wale songs in the begining...one of his songs was picturised on Anupam Kher also....he also mimicked anu malik, udit narayan and kumar sanu's singing styles which made the audience hysterical with laughter.
The one thing that i noticed about Sonu is his humility...he was giving so much importance to his team members...and his interaction with audience and his stage presence and his energy was awesome....all in all it was a show worth our time and money.
