i know this is kind of a late post for this, but i have a question about the song amanat sang for the independence day special - ae watan pyare watan. hope someone knows and can help me.

this is such a beautiful and soft song, and i like it the more i hear it. i noticed in the video today that aditya said something to him about singing something that he wrote when he introduced him, but i think i misheard and he must have meant to recite some poetry that he wrote. then i saw that the song was originally sung by amanat ali khan sahab. so i looked that up and found an old black and white video on youtube for this song (the singer was just too incredibly good), so it's definitely a much older song than amanat and he couldn't have written it. so, all that being said, is amanat somehow related to the original singer of the song? i'm just curious since their names are so similar.

sorry, i don't know much about pakistani singers (other than mehdi hassan, noor jehan, ghulam ali, nusrat fateh ali khan, reshma, and such who have had big exposure in india) so i hope you all will forgive my ignorance. i also searched older posts to make sure that someone didn't already ask, but i didn't find anything - so hope i didn't miss something and hope that i'm not repeating something.

thanks!

hi adi,

thanks for posting a reply. i already have downloaded the song. i just want to know if amanat ali is somehow related to the amanat ali khan sahab who originally sang the song in pakistan. i saw in an article that he comes from a musical family, so i just got curious . . .

does anyone know? perhaps someone in pakistan is more familiar with his background?

hi.

again, thanks for the reply and the reference for the article - i really do appreciate it. i did see the article you mentioned before posting my note, and that's where i got that he's from a musical background/family. but all of these articles are newer ones after amanat came to sa re ga ma pa, and they don't give much detail about his background and family - just superficial information.

i'm hoping someone from pakistan or dubai might know more about him and his relationship (or lack of relationship) to amanat ali khan sahab, the original classic singer of the song ae watan.

thanks.
