On yet another channel, when he was asked to explain what he had meant by a certain quote 'In life you must always go straight and then turn right', he turned around and jeeringly asked the anchor, whether he was actually the editor of the channel. Instead of editing the portion, the channel has foolishly shown the same making their editor look like an idiot. But why blame the stars; it looks like some of our eminent editors seem to be a wee bit star struck. Take Seedhi Baat for instance. This show, which stood out for its incisive interviews courtesy the host, editor, Prabhu Chawla, seems to feature Bollywood personalities often these days. It could perhaps have to do with the economics of TRPs — stars do sell more — but do these hosts have to appear syrupy every time they interview a film personality? Chawla, who otherwise makes a hard-nosed interviewer, was unusually soft on Khan. This is probably the only interview where Salman was at his best behaviour, addressing Chawla as 'Sir'. Khan has not yet been acquitted in the Black Buck case, which will be up for hearing soon and needs all the print media support. Another host, the respectable Shekhar Gupta interviewed Karan Johar on Walk the Talk this week, It was disappointing to watch Gupta's diffident approach which made the whole interview 'ekdum thanda'. There was nothing new Johar had to say and the director, who appears in every Page three newspaper, had the gall to dismiss the same. And Mr Gupta, quickly absolves his newspaper by pointing out, "We don't do it." Tch! Tch! Not becoming Mr Gupta! We expect you to stand up for your tribe and not let us down in favour of our more glamorous cousin. |
