Sahana you are the mentor you would know better. As an audience I can say I would prefer to hear a variation of melody...any sad song with plenty of pathos, or an item number or something different.even in golden times there are songs like mera naam chin chin choo...now thats is sweet and yet it sounds different right?

Raju of your gharana has been selecting songs of different types, and it sounds nice to see his versatile range.

Sarita also sings fabulously , but we all know that she is good in these type of songs, so nothing new offered here. In round slike this when there is a broader scope, there are many options available too....

as an audience its my opinion. You may agree or you may not. Finally what matters is not what I think , but what the judges think. Its their decision to call the shots..😆 So debating with me here wont help much. Its an opinion from public, take it or leave it...debate karke koi faida nahi....

It may have raag Yaman surs but to make a song classical thoda alaap, tana & harkats bhi jaruri hain na. Ok ok, sorry, I am not going to debate anymore 😛

Adi, wait for future rounds. You will get to listen to different kinds(genre) of songs from everyone then. Ab tak with the broader themes anyone would pick song that they are comfortable with, isn't it..😳

I am very disappointed with this round. I was hoping someone will sing "Jhumma Chumma De De". 😆 😆

You are not getting my point. I am not at all insisting that Sarita is the best singer around. She is not. But, in my opinion, even with her limitations she has attempted more variety of songs than many others with better voices. Of course, don't I know that judges are going to make the final decision? But, it's my habit to try and make sense of what people say, so what if they are not decision-makers. There has to be a foundation of sense below everything.

Now if you had said, Sarita should attempt to sing classical, you would have made sense to me, because that's the only type she has not attempted.

Otherwise, if I list out her songs, they are all very different. It's a different matter whether she did full justice to the songs :
1)Jahan mein aisa kaun hain - melody/soft/soothing
2)Jeeya dhadak dhadak - robust, deep throated folk
3)Meethi meethi baaton - Song with singing and talking
4)Gorey gorey o baanke chhore - Song in two different voices
5)Yeh ladka, haai allah - racy (maybe same genre as mera naam chin chin choo)
6)Doni saagali - soft melody
7)Le chala yeh dil jidhar - slow number
8)Main to bhool chali babul ka des - garba style folk

Obviously, since there are no beats allowed, melody will be more prominent.

OK, I think I said what I wanted to say. I don't regard discussions like these to be detrimental to the spirit of the contest. They should be encouraged, instead of being dismissed with "take it or leave it". We all need to learn to analyse.

Sahana,

How about you giving feedback for others? they will gain a lot from that.

On Sarita issue, I wont say anything more. Its not a topic for debate.it was an observation. It can be very demoralising for the participants and also it can influnece some others viewpoints too.

If she wants to try something different, fine very good, if she doesn't still fine...😊.This thread is meant for publics feedback and that is what this public feels.

But let me tell you, she sang very well no doubt about that. Its just that nature of songs are getting rather predictable...you wont believe but i knew for sure this one would probably be one of the songs that she would sing...and it seemed I was bang on...😎😆

You can blame the predictability on the fact that there are very few Laxmikant Pyarelal and Kalyanji Anandji songs that I like! 😃 So there's just a handful of movies to choose from. If you have noticed, other participants have also chosen songs from the same movie. Learn to analyse, my boy.

Aha, I notice that you are giving your views and saying "this is what the public feels" 😆
