is Vishal a Sindhi? Not that it matters, but I find it somewhat funny that majority of the sindhi surnames end with 'ani'.

Shekhar is a Kucchi, it is some sort of a ethnic group like a mix between Gujju and Sindhi. Apparently they're from Gujurat but speak Sindhi

and yes Sindhi is a whole new language as well.

Neither Kutchhi nor Sindhi are full-fledged languages. They are both dialects. Kutchhi's use the Gujarati script, and Sindhi's use the Punjabi (Gurmukhi) script. While there are some similarities between the two, it's only superficial. The 2 regions - Sindh and Kutch are geographic neighbors and hence the similarities in the two dialects.
